A Lovely Stay, Though Slightly Below Usual Anantara Standards
We recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a lovely experience. The property is beautifully maintained, and our suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable. As suite guests, we had complimentary access to the indoor pool, which was a great addition. However, it’s worth noting that for guests not staying in suites, use of the indoor pool comes at an extra charge of €25 per person, per visit — something that felt a little surprising for a 5-star resort, particularly when compared to other Anantara properties we’ve stayed at in the past.
The hotel has a calm and professional atmosphere, though the overall ambiance felt more business-oriented than leisure-focused. Breakfast was nicely presented and of good quality, though the selection remained the same each morning.
The location is peaceful, but do keep in mind it’s about a 10-minute drive from the marina if you’re looking for a wider variety of restaurants and evening options. Free parking is available at the hotel, and I would highly recommend hiring a car for flexibility and convenience during your stay.
While the hotel itself is lovely, we found it lacked just a little of the warmth and charm we’ve come to expect from the Anantara brand. For that reason, I wouldn’t quite rate it a 5 — but it’s a solid and very good 4.5-star experience.

The ONLY hotel worth staying in when in villamoura. I was worried before my arrival as they have recently changed ownership and I wondered how this would affect the quality but my worries were baseless. I’ve had a 10/10 experience here and can’t wait to come back. The entire property is 5* condition. Right from entering you are welcomed warmly by kind and knowledgeable staff. The rooms and suites and spacious and beautifully designed with regular cleaning (twice a day!) the breakfast buffet is one of the most impressive I’ve ever had. You must try their fresh juice too. Their spa facilities are really great and they have a full menu of treatments, massages and procedures. I have to compliment their staff once again, the art of customer service is being lost across service industries but this is one place that has got it spot on. I cannot recommend the Anantara enough.

During my recent stay at the Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort, I found the experience to be a mix of positives and areas needing improvement.
Rooms: The accommodations were spacious and well-appointed, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration.
Breakfast: The breakfast offerings were satisfactory, though I anticipated a broader selection befitting a five-star establishment.
Spa Experience: A notable concern arose with the spa services. The advertised rate was €15 per person per hour; however, I was charged €25. This discrepancy posed challenges, especially when using prepaid travel cards, leading to unexpected expenses and potential currency conversion fees. Upon addressing this at checkout, the staff acknowledged the issue but could not process a refund, offering instead complimentary spa access shortly before my departure—a solution that was impractical given the timing. While an apology was extended, a more accommodating gesture, such as a complimentary drink during my wait, would have been appreciated.
Overall Impression: While the resort boasts commendable amenities and a serene ambiance, attention to detail in guest relations and clarity in service charges are areas for enhancement. Future guests, particularly those utilizing travel cards, should remain vigilant about potential discrepancies and seek confirmation on service pricing to avoid unforeseen charges.

This is a nice, well run and comfortable hotel with good rooms. Although we were “upgraded” so I can only comment on the more expensive bedrooms.
Despite a rather bland lobby and hallway design the actual bedrooms are comfortable and well designed.
I found the service here also to be overall very good and helpful.
The gym has some decent kit and there are a number of good pools.
My visit was during low season (December) so it might well be a different story during high-season but my experience was certainly favourable.
They do a good breakfast!

This resort is stunning. The rooms are beautiful and comfy and the service is amazing. It’s a little far from Lagos and faro at about an hour each but it was perfect for my trip.
