I am staying in the the algarve on holiday and decided to treat myself at a five star hotel. I paid the 20 euro day pass fee and got a towel to use in gym and pool. I went to the bar at the swimming pool and ordered some food and a drink. I was so excited to eat at a five star hotel. I was shocked at the food that was presented to me. It was literally watery tomato sauce thrown on cheap spaghetti. It was awful. I was planning to order more food but I am glad I didn't order anything much more expensive because my heart sank while I was eating my cold watery pasta. They have lovely gardens and the pool is nice but the food left me disappointed.

The hotel is beautiful from the outside but from the inside horrible. The rooms are way too outdated. The staff is really rude, and says they’re not available until we give them a tip.The cleaning lady is very impolite, she ignores everyone for no reason and doesn’t look at anybody and I do not recommend this hotel at all do not come !!!!!

Very nice apartments but ants are a bit of a problem. Great pool and friendly staff. Not a lot of entertainment though. So, probably 3.5 stars

You arrive to a beautiful entrance and grounds, immaculately maintained. Excellent helpful and friendly staff on reception.
We had booked a one bedroom apartment in the Serecena block which was well placed to catch the sun on the patio from morning to evening. The apartment was well furnished and had good quality comfortable furniture and the lounge, dining and patio areas can comfortably sit 6 persons. The TV has the main UK channels and a JBL soundbar that you can connect to via Bluetooth to play music from your phone.
The bed mattress is firm, which won’t suit all, but I found it comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with large fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and everything you might need for cooking. Even a blender, juicing machine and Nespresso. There was hot/cold air conditioning units in the lounge and bedroom.
The resort offer an excellent water and energy reducing option to opt out of daily cleaning, towel and bed linen changes. For each day you opt out you are given a €5 voucher to spend in the bar or restaurant (beer vouchers!).
We used the gym and indoor pool, which were both good, but one of the running machines was out of order for all 10 days of our stay. The ladder to exit the pool was also wrapped in hazard tape, which detracted from the overall impression.
You can walk to the nearest supermarket at a nearby golf resort in 20 mins but realistically you need a hire car if you stay here self catering or to explore the area.
There were a few minor issues with the apartment that detracted from an overall excellent experience. The chairs on the patio were frayed, the dishwasher trays rusting, and rust also on the heated towel radiator. We found the gardening and maintenance staff took a shortcut past our patio, across the pedestrian walkway and through the car parking spaces, rather than using the service road, which did detracted from sitting out.
Overall we found the resort excellent and it is highly recommended.

We have been coming to Carvoeiro for over 20 years. This was our first stay at VdO. The level of service and friendliness of the staff at VdO was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay and look forward to coming back very shortly. The staff at the restaurant and pool were brilliant and welcoming, especially Marcio.
