My husband paid for 2 nights and they have told my husband that he cannot stay in the room during the day and has to check out at 12pm and then go back later. I am appalled as he has nowhere to go and we have PAID for the apartment for 48 hours. They told him if he wants to stay in the room during the day he needs to pay €25 euros. THIS WAS NOT MENTIONED DURING BOOKING AND IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. I have paid for a service I have not received and I am now very stressed and upset. I am disgusted, never in my life have I heard of this nonsense.

Wouldn't go back, rooms clean but furniture dates back to 70s 80s. Couldn't use the draws in the bedroom because the door of the wardrobe that housed them only opened so far. Went self catering, no kettle, toaster or microwave, only 2 hobs and an old fashion coffee machine, don't drink coffee. Cutlery and cooking utensils very poor, ended up buying our own. Pool bar open till 6pm but the indoor bar didn't open at all so couldn't have a drink in the evening, had to go out. Loved the location, so many bars and restaurants and supermarkets all within walking distance. Hotel totally let it down, so basic. Some of the reception staff were quite rude. Would definitely return to the area just not the hotel.

Old hotel but very cozy with comfortable decor. The rooms are so unusual that they are just as great as they are. The employees are nice and especially caring. The food was always very good. The location is perfect to get back to the hotel quickly after the party. The beach is also not far away and can be easily reached on foot. Looking forward to my next vacation in November.

Our original room was diabolical (like stepping into the 70s, awful outdated decor), ac didn’t work in both rooms, the beds were uncomfortable (it was like laying on concrete) and it was incredibly outdated. We upgraded the room to a nicer one however the ac didn’t work and it was rather hot at night, considering it was newly renovated it was still not the greatest, very noisy in the morning with hardly any insulation from other guests. As well as the drilling at 9am in other rooms not too sure how you can put guests next to construction work? Don’t get me started on the food, we paid for half board and what a waste of money that was. I’ve never seen such a poor evening meal, the food was cold and there was mouldy fruit and flies. The only good part was the tea and the cocktail bar at the pool. My only positive was the receptionist who we spoke to numerous times to help us with our stay. As well as the daily cleaning although the towels could do with a good bleaching as some of them seemed dirty still. Guess the pool made up for everything else. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this particular hotel ever again unless it gets demolished and a new one is built in its place.

(Jan. 2023) We returned at Rey Carlos after the covid pandemic, we found the swimming pool and the area around it all renovated which was quite nice. We staid again in a not upgraded room which was ok and fairly clean. We also find the reception staff kind and friendly which was nice because the pasts years it wasn’t. The restaurant staff of course was excellent but during our stay there were less of them working and many time they couldn’t cope with the amount of the tasks however they did their best and they were always smiling and super kind. The breakfast and the dinner had a big decline in quality.
