Second time visiting this hotel and as before we had a great time. Again a few niggles but that's all they are.
I think the check-in time takes too long. I don't understand why they can't get all the information required from the travel partner beforehand so, all we as the customer needs to do is sign the form and get our keys. This would save everyone a lot of time!
It's also worth noting you have to pay a 50Euro deposit for the room which we weren't told about.
The towels in the room are not great. Either take your own or be prepared to wonder around the room with a towel that doesn't wrap around you fully.
There are cats that have been adopted by the hotel. Whilst not wild, they do have free roam of the place including the food halls so if you have cat allergies, maybe avoid!
The food was fantastic, breakfast lunch and dinner all had a great variety every day. The food hall runs a great system of table either being open (take a seat) or closed (someone has gone for food) Only once did someone ignore our closed sign and take our table.
Pool areas were clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds available at all times of the day.
The entertainment team are great. Plenty going on around the pool areas encouraging you to get involved in the games but, will leave you alone if you say no thanks.
All together, we had a great time and if we were to visit GC again, this hotel would certainly get our vote.

4/5 – Family stay, Summer 2024
If you are planning a stay at Abora Buenaventura by Lopesan Hotels, here is an important note regarding the pool area. The biggest downside we experienced was the situation with the sunbeds. Every morning, many guests placed towels on sunbeds as early as 7–8 AM and left for hours, sometimes returning only after lunch.
My suggestion to the hotel: As a guest, I would recommend introducing a refundable towel-deposit system. Guests would “rent” towels and return them at checkout to get their deposit back. This would prevent towels from being left on sunbeds all day and ensure that everyone can enjoy the pool fairly. Implementing such a system could greatly improve the poolside experience and make the hotel even more enjoyable.
Aside from this issue, we had a wonderful family holiday. The hotel is family-friendly, with plenty of activities for children. The all-inclusive food was excellent, with a wide variety of dishes. The staff were kind and helpful, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Our room was cleaned daily, always spotless, and well maintained.
The evening entertainment was a highlight of our stay. We especially loved the Freddie Mercury/Queen tribute performance — absolutely fantastic! We have many videos and unforgettable memories from that show.
The hotel is about a 10–15 minute walk to the beach, even with a stroller, which was perfectly manageable. The hotel itself is a bit older, but well maintained and comfortable.
A minor note about drinks: many cocktails were pre-mixed and not very impressive, and the coffee included in the all-inclusive was average. However, you could purchase high-quality coffee or other drinks at the bar for a small extra fee.
Despite the sunbed issue, we had a truly enjoyable family holiday. The combination of excellent food, fun activities for children, entertainment, and a clean, welcoming environment made our stay memorable. We would recommend this hotel to families looking for a relaxing and fun holiday. With a better sunbed system, it could easily achieve an even higher rating.

We went for a long weekend. Great experience, clean fresh room ample for long weekend for 2 adults and 2 teenage children. Variety of food available through out the day and night.
Honestly can't see what people have to moan about!
Loads of sunbeds to choose from, probably a different story in peak summer time but absolutely no need to get up early in Winter.
Perfect stay from a hotel that tries really hard to keep guests happy!
If you have a food allergen, pick up a card in reception and the kitchen will assist as the labelling isn't the best but our daughter has a milk allergy and found lots of choice.

We got given a different room to what was advertised. The beds are single beds that are on wheels so the beds move about, it was our first couple holiday and we had to sleep in seperate beds for 10 days lol. We paid for all inclusive and only ever ate breakfast there as the food choices were terrible. The buffet food consists of everything left over from breakfast, even under the hot heaters come 4pm, at one point there was 5 trays of croissants in the “buffet” (there is proof in the pictures below, you only see 4 trays in the picture but there WAS 5, SHOOKETH TO THE CORETH I WAS) I wouldn’t mind but the croissants wasnt even nice 🥲 they were borderline soggy. Even the burnt ones, how can a burnt croissant be soggy?! How😭 Please, see for yourself in the pictures. Every day is the same food. They have 2 hot counters but both sides serve the exact same food, they have a tonne of sliced cheeses though ! I only really got pictures of breakfast and the buffet as we ate out every single evening because the food choices were just terrible and I was so underwhelmed I just felt sad every time I was at the hotel lol. The drinks all came from a machine that was free, if you wanted fresh cocktails or fresh coffee you had to pay extra. They provide you with a safe but you have to pay extra to use it ?! And claim that if anything goes missing in your room that isn’t in the safe that it’s not their responsibility. You have to pay a £20 deposit for towel hire and then pay a Euro for each towel you hire. I don’t know, some people might love it but as a first couples holiday and someone looking to try a variety of FRESH food then I wouldn’t bother with this one!

Just back from a week with teenagers. Checked in ok and was asked for a 50 euro deposit. No idea why they request one. They don't check the room at check out etc. Didn't receive any information at check in regards to restaurant opening times or anything. Which we obviously found out ourselves. But no information regards to pool towel hire etc. Room was ok. We were on the 2nd floor facing the quieter pool. Rooms are geared for young children which is great but when you have teenagers they should amend the room contents and take out the play tent, abacus etc etc. There's a safe in the room and mini fridge.
Corridors do need updating as look run down in places but otherwise the areas were clean and tidy etc. We were All inclusive which included meals and snack bar. Please note it doesn't include ice creams or smoothies. I appreciate most All inclusive make you pay for certain Alcoholic drinks but we did expect Ice Cream to be included in the All Inclusive but hey ho. We just had them in the restaurant with the meals.
We ate out more than we normally do when all inclusive as although there was plenty of food. It was very repetitive and simple. The food was hot and replenished all the time.
Two pool areas which are very busy and you need to be up early to put your towels around. One is noisier with entertainment on sometimes during the day but had a bar area with plenty of seating.
Snack bar in our opinion was pretty dire. Only one day we saw a staff member in there cleaning and checking on food etc. Burgers looked raw or overcooked. Staff member went round putting the tongues inside the cabinets so when you used them you almost burnt your hands. They should be hooked on the doors. Oh the doors, u need 3 hands to get a snack lol. As the doors don't stay up.
Watch out for the cats, lots around the pool areas and also in the snack bars.
Little supermarket on site was handy, also a gift shop. 2 games rooms but these got so hot.
Ok hotel but not somewhere we would return back to.
