SYMONE ROSE
I arrived on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025, for a 7-night solo holiday, and have been extremely disappointed with the service, conditions, and treatment I’ve experienced at this hotel so far.
1. Misleading Hotel Description
The hotel does not reflect the listing on your website. The pool is very small, and amenities such as a cabana (as advertised) do not exist. This misrepresentation has impacted my holiday expectations and experience.
2. Room 303 – Unacceptable Conditions
Upon check-in, I was allocated Room 303, which I strongly believe is a former or current staff quarters room:
Heavy smell of mould, dirty, stained carpets and bedsheets.
Outdoor table and chairs were filthy, with dead flies and stained cushions.
Broken window and unsafe location with the only access being from the pool area.
Located next to staff rooms, contributing to an unsafe and unwelcoming atmosphere — especially distressing as a solo female traveller.
I raised this immediately and was told I could change rooms the next day, which I agreed to.
3. Inappropriate Threats by the Hotel Manager
On the morning of Wednesday 24th, I was confronted by the hotel manager, Pablo, in an aggressive and threatening manner. He accused me of having guests stay over and demanded €120 in cash, or I would be evicted from the hotel and I should contact the airline. This was extremely distressing and humiliating.
At no point were guests staying overnight — my cousin and his friend briefly escorted me back to the hotel and left shortly after.
There was no signage or policy provided about visitors, nor was this on the website.
I apologised and made it clear it would not happen again, yet he continued to threaten eviction.
I ultimately felt so unsafe and shaken that I handed over €70 in cash, as this was all I had, just to avoid being thrown out alone in a foreign country.
I strongly suspect this was a scam to extort cash, as they refused to accept card payment. This interaction left me in tears, feeling intimidated, isolated, and deeply uncomfortable.
4. Poor Facilities & Cleanliness
Breakfast was inadequate and of low quality (only croissants, rolls, ham, and cheese).
Dining area was unclean with dead flies visible on window sills.
The fridge in my room does not work, meaning I cannot store drinks or water.
Wi-Fi does not work in my room (Room 206), which I reported.
I had to clean and sanitise the room myself using my own products after asking the chambermaid to vacuum it.
5. Inadequate Staffing
There appears to be one staff member, Lary, managing the reception, bar, pool, complaints, and more — which is highly unprofessional for a hotel of this cost and standard.
Summary:
I paid nearly £1,300 for a relaxing, comfortable solo getaway. Instead, I have been:
Intimidated and threatened by the manager
Moved between unsuitable and unclean rooms
Left to feel unsafe, isolated, and emotionally distressed.
This was meant to be a 7 day chilled holiday but the hotel staff made me feel uncomfortable. Considering the hotel was a ghost town.
Lary was tbe best staff member who was able to help with my complaint..

My husband and I had a great time at this boutique hotel. We would like to thank Nina, Maria and Lary who were amazing and helpful to us.
Great location about 15 minutes away from the strip and the beach or you can hop on a Tourist Train to the strip or the beach and really cheap.
We had a great breakfast which was continental and just what we wanted.
The bed was comfortable and away from the noise of the strip. Clean and tidy hotel. Swimming pool was lovely and well kept.

Really enjoyed my stay here fantastic location and a nice pool area. I stayed in Room 205 and I was very happy with this due to the balcony view and the size of the room. The beds were comfy and the shower was fantastic. The balcony was also spacious and excellent for relaxing on with a drink. Pool was small but was at the same time was a very good pool due to its nice temperature. Also really liked the laid back atmosphere of the hotel/Pool area. Neina (Nina) and Lary were very friendly and accommodating. A number of shops cafes/bars along with the new town strip and the old town within a walkable distance from the hotel make it the perfect location. I plan to return to Albufeira at some point in the future and would definitely consider staying at KR Hotels again. All in all it’s a really good hotel would recommend staying here if you’re looking for a relaxed laid back vibe.

Where do I start? After reading some of the poor reviews on Google we were genuinely concerned about our holiday. How wrong could we be..? I don't know what the people who were unhappy with the hotel expect? 5 star luxury? If that's what you want then go to a posh Luxury hotel. If you want a clean and tidy well cared for place to stay with amazing friendly staff who can't do enough for you, then you'll have a great time, the pool is clean if a tad small, but again for the size of the hotel it's fine. The breakfast is continental, and croissants are fresh as is the bread, if you really want a full English it's available but at an extra cost, or visit one of the many food establishments that served It. It's a relatively short walk to the beach and the view is absolutely to die for, we went almost every evening just to soak up the vibe and view. The hotel is about halfway between the new and old town, but far away enough not to be bothered with noise. I honestly can't think of anything negative about it.

One of the Worst Hotel Experiences – Ruined Our Honeymoon
My wife and I stayed at KR Hotel in Albufeira from April 10th to 13th, 2025, and it was, without exaggeration, one of the most disappointing and traumatic experiences we’ve ever had — especially considering it was our honeymoon.
Let’s start with the room: it was dull, gloomy, and severely cramped. There was barely enough space to move around, and the bed was so uncomfortable it gave both of us backaches. Definitely not what you expect from a place that supposedly had decent reviews online (which we now feel were misleading at best).
The bathroom was even worse. The sink wouldn’t drain, taking about 20 minutes each time to clear after use — a nightmare for anyone, but particularly bad as my wife has bladder issues. The shower water irritated both our skin, causing lumps on our faces. Totally unacceptable.
Now here’s where it gets truly alarming: our room door was forcefully tampered with three separate times. Once on the second morning, again later that same evening, and the third time — the most terrifying — was on the third night at 9:47 PM. I was in the bathroom, and my wife was changing when someone aggressively tried to get into our room, yanking the door handle and only backing off after she screamed. She was terrified, and from that moment on, neither of us could sleep properly. This totally destroyed any feeling of safety or peace. How can a hotel operate with such poor security?
As if all of this wasn’t enough, we asked for an iron and were told we couldn’t have one in the room. Instead, we had to bring clothes down to be ironed by staff. We gave them my wife’s £250 dress, which a staff member (a young dark-skinned lady) completely ruined while ironing. The dress is now unwearable and has to be thrown away. Not even an apology was offered.
Thanks to KR Hotel, what should have been one of the happiest trips of our lives turned into a stressful, scary, and deeply disappointing experience. We were left with trauma, poor sleep, ruined plans, and a damaged dress worth £250.
We’re currently demanding a full refund and reimbursement, and we strongly urge others to avoid this hotel — especially if you value comfort, safety, and basic human decency.
