We stayed at Barcelo Playa Blanca for our honeymoon and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. We booked the swim-up room and it was absolutely worth it. Waking up and stepping straight into the pool felt like pure luxury. The room itself was so modern and beautifully designed. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, with so many pillows that I wanted to take them all home. I loved the open-style bathroom, and the separate toilet was such a smart touch for privacy.
The staff were always friendly and welcoming, and the all-inclusive restaurant… wow. I’m still dreaming about that buffet. Every meal felt like a treat.
We also really enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings. The only thing I’d improve is the app... the layout could be clearer. I had to ask staff to find the theatre and ended up Googling the act to know what it was about. A bit more info directly in the app would make things easier.
Overall, it was the perfect place for a honeymoon, especially with the room we had. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Barceló Playa Blanca is a wonderful hotel with a beautiful view and a great location. The surroundings are lovely and very convenient for getting around. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. The hotel is very clean, and the pool area is well maintained, spacious, and relaxing. Overall, a very pleasant stay and a place I would happily recommend.

⭐ Honest Review of Our Stay
The hotel is new, beautiful, and very spacious, with a fantastic seafront location and great views. The rooms are nice as well, although the open‑style bathroom inside the room is not ideal — I would personally prefer it to be separate. Be prepared for long walking distances throughout the property.
👶 Kids Club & Pools
The kids club is pleasant, but it lacks toys. Instead, there are mostly books, and there is no babysitting service.
The pools are heated, but the water still feels quite cold, especially with the strong wind we had every day.
🧖 Spa
The spa was one of the highlights: warm pool and amazing views. However, it comes at an extra cost of 20€ per person, even for guests with an all‑inclusive package, which is disappointing.
🍽 Food & Service
The food was tasty, with a large selection and generally good service. Unfortunately, one older cook reacted inappropriately when I asked about the freshness of a dish — instead of addressing the question, he asked where I come from, which felt unprofessional.
🛎 Reception Experience
Our biggest disappointment was the reception. We experienced rudeness, lack of attention, and unnecessary complications. When we spoke to the manager, the response was simply that it was “probably a misunderstanding,” which didn’t feel helpful — especially considering we had booked an additional four nights before our main stay.
🛏 Room Issues
Some issues (telephone and safe) were fixed immediately, but the creaking bed took three days and repeated reminders before it was repaired. There were other small issues as well, not worth listing individually.
💬 Overall
When you’re paying 350€ per night — and 500€ during Christmas — for two adults and a baby, you expect everything to run smoothly and pleasantly. The hotel has potential, but there is a lot to improve.
I’m not sure I would choose this hotel chain again.

Excellent hotel. Huge, impressive setup including a massive pool and landscaped grounds. Room layout is a little odd with the sink outside of the toilet in the main room, though it still functions. Hotel is clean throughout and our room was cleaned spotlessly everyday. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Food is good though not amazing, though there is plenty of choice. We really liked the Mediterranean restaurant on the right when entering, for some reason it is always quieter than the other buffet restaurant, and the decor is beautiful. The evening entertainment is good fun, including the kids mini disco. Gym is well equipped with great open air views. Overall it’s a great hotel which I would definitely return to.

We spent our nine-night holiday in November at the Barceló, as we had had good experiences with other Barceló hotels in the past and because we wanted to support a Spanish hotel chain. The reception and check-in went smoothly, including a welcome drink of nice Cava. However, it quickly became apparent how inefficient and incompetent things were in many areas. Our rooms (Superior Seafront) were only cleaned very poor —repeated complaints to the staff and at reception made no difference. Right next there is a shaft with sewage from the hotels on a vacant plot of land: every day it smelled of feces, and the sea breeze carried the stench into the room....
Unfortunately, my husband developed a bowel infection and was only able to drink tea at dinner; the staff in the main restaurant were unable to provide tea, saying that tea was only available at breakfast.... (!) When I complained to the chef de service and at reception, I was met with indifference. In the end, we made the tea in our room and brought it to the restaurant ourselves (unbelievable!!). Very poor service from the hotel even when somebody is feeling sick!!
The same sad situation occurred at the bar in the evening (there is only one small, uninspiring main bar—far too bright light and uncomfortable, with an atmosphere like a waiting hall). From a distance I saw Amaretto liqueur at the bar, so I ordered an Amaretto Sour—guess what the bartender’s response was? “We don’t make Amaretto Sours.” I walked away disappointed and could hardly believe it.
All of these experiences are extremely disappointing for a hotel in the Barceló chain, and we will certainly not return. For an average English all-inclusive guest (the hotel is very much geared towards British guests), the hotel may be good, but for a quality-conscious Swiss guest, this hotel is definitely not suitable.
I fear that my feedback does not interest the hotel at all, as guests will come anyway and nothing will change. The hotel is simply built far too large, and it is impossible to provide the level of service one would like to and/or promises. The staff know this and therefore appear demotivated and uninterested. There are much better alternatives in Playa Blanca, such as H10 or Hipotels.
