We had a decent stay at this hotel, especially considering the price we paid.
The rooms were clean and comfortable enough, but they were quite noisy. You can hear people stomping around in the rooms above, guests and staff running and talking loudly in the hallways, and occasionally even shouting. There’s a nightlife street right next to the hotel, which you can hear pretty well, but luckily it quiets down relatively early.
We booked half-board, and the food was okay for what you pay. Breakfast was fine, and dinner was tasty for one night. However, if the hotel varied the dinner menu more, I think they could easily get higher ratings. They could also improve by switching from the paper receipt system to a digital one — it would be better for the environment, more convenient for both guests and staff, and even things like the wristbands could be made more sustainable.
The pools were nice. One was heated and the other wasn’t, which gave a good option depending on your preference.
Overall, we had a good stay — we just expected a bit less noise.

Honest Review – Barcelo Fuerteventura Mar (1-Week Stay April)
We recently spent a week at the Barcelo Fuerteventura Mar and overall had a really good experience. Here’s a breakdown of our stay:
Check-In Process:
The check-in was smooth and efficient, largely thanks to the helpful and friendly staff. We had completed the online check-in before arriving, which made the process even quicker and hassle-free.
Facilities:
The hotel is well laid out and thoughtfully designed. We appreciated that the tables in the bars and restaurants weren’t crammed together, creating a more relaxed and spacious atmosphere. Everything felt clean and well maintained.
Room:
The room was clean, tidy, and well presented. However, since there were three of us sharing, it did feel a little on the small side. It was fine for the week, but a bit of extra space would’ve made it more comfortable.
Pool:
The main pool was heated, which was a big plus and the snack bar was amazing. However, we did notice several sun loungers were broken and in need of repair—something that should definitely be addressed.
Restaurants & Food:
The food was of reasonable quality with plenty of variety, and we found the options to be quite healthy overall. There was something for everyone, and we never felt bored with the selection. A pleasant surprise was that the alcohol served included branded drinks, which was a nice touch and added to the overall value.
Suggestions for Improvement:
Towel Policy: While the €10 deposit for pool towels is standard, the €2 charge for each towel change felt excessive for a hotel of this level. It would be more reasonable to include at least one towel change during a stay.
Pool Bar Staffing: The pool bar consistently had long queues. Adding extra staff during peak times would really help speed things up and improve the guest experience.
Restaurant System: The paper-based tally system used for ordering drinks or extras in the restaurant felt outdated. It would be much more convenient if guests could simply use their room wristbands to pay for additional items.
Final Thoughts:
This was our first time staying at a Barcelo-branded hotel, and based on this experience, we would definitely consider using them again in the future. The hotel has a lot going for it—great layout, friendly staff, and good food. With a few small improvements, it could really elevate the guest experience to the next level.
And hey—don’t worry, I’m not one of those reviewers blaming the hotel for the weather. A few clouds don’t ruin a great stay!

Look, as a hotel it is fine. Close to beaches etc and great staff. HOWEVER, if you have an allergy or are vegetarian avoid at all costs. Food is incorrectly labelled, food is put in the wrong sections (meat dishes in the vegan section), cross contamination by the chefs when handling the food. Before you ask complains are brushed off as mistakes with apologies that happened every day. I would not recommend. Truly terrifying when you are Veggie.
Furthermore, be careful when booking an all inclusive, the spa isn't accessible to under 16's.

The hotel and staff are lovely. It's very clean and relaxing. The food was pretty good, although not having tea or coffee included at lunch or evening meal is a bit strange. We also booked for the Brazilian restaurant, which we thought was terrible. We did express our thoughts to the staff and this was dealt with very well. The entertainment in the hotel in the evenings was very good. We would definitely stay again.
