great hotel for families with children, we just returned home from it a week ago and I can say that we were very satisfied. Part of the hotel is undergoing renovation, which we didn't mind at all. The cleanliness of the rooms was great, as was the surroundings and the hotel grounds. The best thing about it all was the food. And the girls at the pool bar who made great coffee. Thank you girls 👌🏻. children's program is great as well as the kids club.

Absolutely love this hotel, rooms are spacious and spotless, very comfortable. Cleaning staff are amazing and always ready to help you. Entertainment is great, the animation team this year are amazing ! Especially Sandra, my kids and I love her, she’s always around the pool getting them dancing and playing water games. She’s so much fun and full of energy and gets the whole pool enjoying the games. We are loving our stay so much and can’t wait to come back again. This hotel just gets better and better!

We’ve just returned from an unforgettable 10-day stay at Castillo Tagoro and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the friendliness of the staff – every single person we encountered went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.
Our room was spacious, comfortable and always spotless. The hotel itself is beautifully kept, and we absolutely loved the pools and the facilities, which are perfect for families with young children.
A special mention has to go to the amazing entertainment team – the whole crew were just brilliant. Our kids were completely captivated by the evening shows, kids disco and the kids’ club. The Broadway Show on our final night was the icing on the cake – spectacular from start to finish!
Thank you to all at Castillo Tagoro for giving our family such a memorable holiday. We’ll definitely be back!

We only had a short stay, but it was an amazing time! Our 5yr old LOVED the kids clubs and all the staff that were there! She loved all the girls especially Valentina & Sandra. The animation team went way above and beyond and made all the kiddies feel so special, day and night, amazing! 🩷 thanks animation team for a memorable stay 🥰
The cleaning staff were so amazing also and even arranging my daughter’s teddies on the bed and making her blanket into a bow! She was delighted!

A Fantastic Stay – Perfect for Families and Relaxation
We had a wonderful time at this hotel, which is ideally located just a short walk from Playa Blanca. The staff were outstanding—always friendly, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile to make our stay special.
Location
The hotel is tucked away in a relatively quiet area, perfect for a peaceful getaway. If you're looking for a bit more buzz, a scenic 30-minute walk along the beautiful coastal path will take you into the heart of Playa Blanca. Alternatively, a taxi costs around £5.
One of the best things about the location is its proximity to the stunning Papagayo beaches. Even with a young child, we found the walk manageable and well worth it for the serene, unspoiled sands.
Rooms
Our room was spacious, well laid out, and very comfortable. The beds were great, and the housekeeping team kept everything spotless with daily cleaning to a high standard.
Pools
There’s a great variety of pools, each with its own vibe. Whether you want something lively or more relaxed, there’s something for everyone. The pools were clean and well-maintained, and we appreciated the sensible rules around large inflatables.
Kids’ Activities
This hotel truly shines when it comes to family fun. There’s so much for kids to do, and the staff—from restaurant servers to cleaners to the dedicated kids’ team—were all amazing with them. Highlights included the bubble party in the kids’ pool and the evening entertainment. The kids’ team were absolutely incredible—full of energy and genuinely caring.
A Quirky Downside
If there’s one minor downside, it’s the layout—it’s a bit of a maze! That said, it adds to the charm. There are some hidden gems (like the castle-top viewpoint), but they can be tricky to find. We recommend spending your first day exploring and getting your bearings. Honestly, we were still discovering new corners well into our second week!
Food
There was plenty of options for food, with the menu changing daily. Staying for 2 weeks we did see some repetition of meals but very little. The food on the whole was very good quality, better than you might expect from an all inclusive buffet style.
Suggestions for Improvement
While we loved our stay, here are a few ideas that could make it even better:
Pool Bar – The current pool bar is quite small and multi-purpose, which leads to long queues. It looked like improvements were underway when we left, so hopefully this will be resolved soon. A larger, dedicated pool bar would be a big plus.
Sports Bar Hours – The sports bar only opens in the evening, but the balcony is such a lovely spot. Opening it after lunch would give guests a great alternative to the pool area for relaxing, playing cards, or enjoying a drink.
Sunbed Reservations – Like many resorts, early-morning sunbed reservations are an issue. It would be great if the hotel could monitor and manage this better. We often saw beds reserved at 7 AM and left unused until mid-afternoon, which made it hard to find a spot later in the day.
Drinks - Introduce a few more drink options at the restaurant, a simple Rum + coke or Gin + Tonic even if you made some of this "self service" by installing soft drink machines next to the coffee stations. I found i was drinking cocktails by the pool, then having to swap to beer or just soft drinks whilst eating, but then going back to cocktails.
Final Thoughts
We can’t recommend this hotel enough. It’s a fantastic place for families, couples, or anyone looking to unwind in a beautiful setting. We had a lovely time and are already looking forward to our next visit!
Thank you!
