From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive to every detail. The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had an amazing view. The bed was super comfortable, and we appreciated the high-quality linens and amenities provided.

The food and staff steal the show. Beachfront with nice rooms. It’s ideal for families and couples as it is so spacious that never feels crowded

Overall great.. We had a great week with the weather really making it (mid to high 20’s).
Food - I’m a picky eater and there was always a selection of ‘basic’ food like spaghetti, chicken nuggets, fries etc. As for my boyfriend who likes anything, there was always lots of different and new foods to try every meal time. Large selection of desserts and ice cream with toppings at every meal time (even breakfast).
Staff - The staff at the hotel are really polite and welcoming, the bar staff are very chatty when it’s quieter and the on-site shop owner/worker is very helpful.
Entertainment - HUGE shout out to Fredricho who’s new to the entertainment team, he’s absolutely hilarious and really made the week. He comes round multiple times a day to get you involved in games and always asks how you are. Also Matilda who is head of the entertainment team did an amazing job hosting the ‘variety show’ on our last night, she’s an amazing dancer and again, so kind and polite. The rest of the entertainment team were also great including the DJ and light technician whose name I didn’t catch.
Room - I thought I would leave this until last as this was the factor that knocked the review down a star unfortunately. When we first arrived, we were taken to our room by a guy in a little golf buggy who carried our bags for us which was really kind. When we got in the room, we immediately noticed it was ridden with gnats and some sort of little flies which I can’t really fault the hotel for as it is just one of those islands, but then there was also loads of wood lice and ants all over the floor which was abit disgusting to be honest so we headed back to the reception to ask for a different room, as I read some reviews saying people had to do the same thing and the issue was fixed for them, but we were told that there was nothing they could do as they had no other rooms ready. We went back to the room and went on a killing spree of all the bugs in there and after that it was okay. The only other issue was that the air con didn’t work for half the week then just suddenly kicked in a couple days before we left.
Overall - We really enjoyed our stay. The two pools being a couple minutes away from each other meant you felt like you were in two different settings so it was nice to switch it up each day, there was three different bars and all were easily accessible right by the pools, the on-site shop was really cheap which was surprising so that was great for any forgotten bits and water bottles for in the hotel rooms ( where there is also a mini fridge) and Kos town is 1000% worth a visit even with the expense of travelling there.

It's a bit out of the way from Kos Town.
Our rooms clothes line for drying clothes outside was broken. Our TV satellite was broken... No fix provided for this.
About 30 minutes on a bus and the bus timetable is a bit sporadic.
Queuing for the buffet food was a first for me.
Beer is decent. Cocktails decent. Staff friendly.

I never write reviews but I had to on this occasion. I have just had 10 nights at SMY hotel 13-23 may 2025 and I can honestly say it was the worst holiday I have ever had in my life.
From the minute it started when we arrived at 10pm at night having not eaten, but as we had not paid for one of the more expensive rooms we was not provided with a food hamper like others were.
We were then shown to our room and it’s been a long time since I slept in a single bed but that was what we had. As we was shattered, the plan was to just chill in the room. So popping the TV on we was met with no service. So we decided to just go to sleep, so checking all doors we noticed the balcony door was unlocked and the lock was broken. We called reception who said we had to wait till morning, which I refused as I didn’t feel safe having the door open all night. A man came hit it with a hammer and we had the option of locked all the time or open all the time.
2am I was rudely woken by screaming and shouting from another room as two people where fighting, then started playing the greatest showman (on repeat). This happened 4 nights in a row and I had to keep asking and asking and getting my rep involved to request to be moved. As reception and management just lied saying police had been involved, then they had left, that they would give me another room (none of this happened and we was not moved until I told my rep to move us to another hotel).
Then once we got up we had no hot water, we had cold showers for 3 days as no one fixed this after we reported it, but we changed rooms and it was a better shower.
We then had a power cut, reception said it was the whole island but this was another lie as we had made friends with some local people, who confirmed they had power. So lunch was just crazy as not that they informed anyone but only the snack bar was serving lunch that day so hot dogs all round as staff laughed at the cues thinking it was all very funny.
There was no real entertainment and when they did do something they started at 21:30hrs and it was just complete rubbish and not worth staying up for.
The food was hit and miss, by far breakfast was the best meal of the day, it just went down hill from there and if you have any sort of food allergies don’t trust the food cards, as I think they just put food where they liked and half the time it was not even the correct food under the labels. Plus since when has pasta milk and sugar mixed together been porridge?
We both had a day of an upset stomach too after eating a curry they had served one evening.
The grounds are not maintained and the weeds have taken oven and shrubs are over grown, the hotel in general is looking tired and in need of doing up and a good clean and face lift.
As for the splash side of this hotel, don’t expect slides and all that as it’s an area for toddlers to play in with some things that spray water out and you can run under the water which I’m not in a pool. So no splash unless someone does a cannonball in the pool near where your laying.
We also had an earthquake but that is not the hotels fault.
Location is in the middle of nowhere with either a bus, taxi or hired vehicle as your only escape from the hotel from hell.
So to conclude if your after long nights of no sleep, celibacy, open doors, more punch ups than Jerry springer. Over work staff due to shortages, management not caring about what you have to say. More ants than bugs life, food that makes you skinny as you either won’t eat it or you get the poops, no entertainment and a hotel which looks like the 60 minute make over put it up and decorated it then this is the place for you. Other wise I honestly recommend not going here and finding a hotel in one of the local small towns instead. It really is horrible and I’m gutted as this was my first holiday in a while and I was just left stressed, upset and tired and wanting to come home.
