I stayed at Ona Alborada in Las Galletas for 8 nights as a solo traveller, and overall I was really impressed. The room felt freshly decorated and was comfortable throughout my stay.
The hotel itself is in a fantastic location – right by the sea and only a short walk to a small, quiet, traditional town with some amazing restaurants nearby. Honestly, I don’t understand how this hotel only has 3 stars.
One small frustration was with towels. I was only provided with one bath towel for the whole 8 nights. Housekeeping did give me a fresh one when they cleaned on Monday, but otherwise I only had the single towel, unless I wanted to go to reception and pay a €10 deposit for another.
The pool area and surroundings are lovely, and the staff were friendly whenever I needed anything. Overall, great value for money and a place I’d be happy to return to.

Great value for money and an amazing pool.
Spacious, modern and clean apartment with comfy beds and memory foam pillows. Unfortunately no Air Con - just a ceiling fan in the bedroom which makes it hot even with blackout curtains pulled to keep sunlight out.
Amazing sea water pool - fantastic when the waves crash over. Seaweed does get in the pool - it is fresh sea water after all but it’s completely emptied, cleaned and re-filled every 3 days. The pool was a real high light for us.
Slight disappointment when checking in - arrived early at 1330 and told check in at 1600. Went for some lunch came back at 1540, politely enquired if room was ready and the response was “well it’s not 4o’clock yet is it?” At 1600 queued up with several others and keys were handed out. Can’t believe they weren’t ready slightly earlier - just made to wait unnecessarily.
Would we visit again - yes, definitely.

Ona Alborada is one of the nicer hotels in the Las Galletas area. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, so expect some construction noise during the day. While the rooms are comfortable and recently renovated, the exterior of the hotel looks rather shabby.
The hotel staff are very kind and helpful. It’s clear that many of the issues are due to infrastructure problems, which are beyond their control. One such issue was the presence of cockroaches. On our second evening, we discovered a large cockroach on the kitchen counter. Moments later, when we lifted the toaster, six more—two large and four medium-sized—scurried out from underneath. We managed to kill one and immediately reported the incident to the receptionist. His initial response—laughter, a reference to the song "La Cucaracha," a shrug, and a can of bug spray—was disappointing, as no room change or real assistance was offered at the time. However, the following morning, we requested a room change again and were thankfully given a new room. As a kind gesture, we also received a bottle of wine, which we really appreciated. Fortunately, aside from one cockroach in the bathroom, the rest of our stay was peaceful. We bought cockroach killing bait in order to be safe. We were bitten by bedbugs a couple nights, so keep that in mind.
It’s worth noting that cockroaches are a common insect on the island, so occasional sightings may be unavoidable.
The rooms are clean and modern, though the bathroom’s air-drying system doesn’t work—leaving the door open helps prevent mold. The pool area is cozy and a good place to relax. However, the water was quite dirty despite the staff’s ongoing efforts to clean it. Many locals seem to use the pool as well, making it feel more like a public facility than a private amenity for hotel guests. The pool is only open from 10:00 to 18:00. We were told this is not a hotel-specific rule but rather an island-wide regulation, which seems to be standard practice in this region.
The spa area next to the pool is currently a large construction site, which affects the overall atmosphere. Additionally, there is no free luggage storage available—you must pay if you want to leave your bags after checkout. Cleaning service is only offered once per week, and not at all if your stay is shorter than seven days. You can only check in at 16:00 and must leave before 10.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad stay. 5/10.

Alborada exceeded our expectations! Super friendly staff, spacious and well equipped rooms along with the salt water pool made our stay very pleasant. I loved the open hallway concept. The only downside would be having to pay for additional towels. Reading up on the hotel history along with the forseen renovations, we're looking forward to visiting again :)

Don’t judge a book by its cover
First impressions can be deceiving. As we disembarked from the bus, my initial thought was, "I hope that's not our hotel." There's an English saying, "fur coat and no knickers," but this hotel was more like a duffel coat and Marks and Spencer undies. While the exterior may look unassuming, the interior tells a different story.
The hotel has recently been renovated, featuring new kitchenettes, bathrooms, and furniture in the rooms. It's a classic case of not judging a book by its cover.
One of the highlights was the massive saltwater swimming pool. Although the water was cool, it was perfect for swimming enthusiasts. To give you an idea of its size, five circuits of the pool amount to approximately 1 km.
there is some building work ongoing near the pool due to the refurbishment and the numatic drill can be noisy but as the saying goes you can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.
We had an enjoyable stay here and used it as a base to explore the area. We ventured into Los Cristianos, and to be honest, we couldn’t get back to the hotel quickly enough.
Once the refurbishment has been completed I would give it 4 stars.
