Nice Hotel, With a Brilliant view, nice and cosy room with a brilliant balcony with a superb view however the fridge did not work, outstanding breakfast buffet with a plethora of options that are bound to suit all. Has a roof top bar along with roof top pool in addition to an indoor pool and outdoor pool. Perfect location as it's roughly a 20 minute walk from the beach and got various shops and restaurants within close proximity of the hotel.

STIFLING HOT
It’s difficult to provide an accurate review of the rooms, as they were generally nice; however, my stay was significantly impacted by the lack of air conditioning. I was initially placed in an interior room with no outdoor window and no A/C, resulting in uncomfortable nighttime temperatures of around 26–27°C. The hotel staff were unable or unwilling to move me to a more suitable room within the same category, prioritizing booking classifications over guest comfort. Decision-making appeared to be heavily centralized, leading to long wait times, especially over a holiday weekend when management was not readily available.
I was eventually moved to a second room that was heavily scented with perfume, making it equally unpleasant. On my third night, I was transferred to a better room with an outdoor window, but still without air conditioning, where it remained 23°C even at 5 AM. I spent the first two days of my trip dealing with room changes instead of enjoying my time with friends.
When I requested a refund for the first two nights, I was told to contact Orbitz. Although Orbitz intervened, the hotel only agreed to refund €55 as a gesture. I have video evidence of a staff member confirming that the air conditioning had been out for some time.
During my stay, temperatures ranged from 20 to 24°C. The hotel failed to disclose that the building lacks air conditioning, leaving guests without a choice. An interior, windowless room quickly becomes stifling, but it seems guest comfort takes a backseat to their bottom line.
The photo I have provided is from a video I took. This is the temperature at 5 AM in a room that has a window to the outdoors. The balcony door was not open as was indicated on the display.
On a positive note, most of the staff were kind and friendly, aside from one individual who checked me in during the evening shift.

I liked the service. Food is Ok. The rooms are modern, specially the electrical system, it's fantastic.
The bus stop is right there. The beach is not far.
I just didn't like to be placed in a building separated from the main hotel block. I felt like I was in a rented apartment, not in a hotel. However, I enjoyed my stay.

A well-equipped hotel let down by confusing rules and poor management
We stayed at the Maritim Hotel as a family of four with two small children (ages 7 and 1) from April 19 to 23. Overall, our experience was pleasant, but several odd and unnecessarily strict rules made the stay more restrictive than it needed to be.
What we loved
• Beautiful garden and outdoor space: The hotel’s garden is lovely—lush, green, and full of friendly cats, which our kids adored. The outdoor pool area is also well-maintained and a highlight of the property.
• Delicious and nutritious breakfast: A solid spread each morning with plenty of healthy and tasty options.
• Nice indoor pool and jacuzzi: Clean, spacious, and relaxing for adults.
• Modern, clean rooms: The rooms are fresh, well-kept, and comfortable. Everything worked as expected.
What needs improvement
• Overly restrictive pool policies:
• The rooftop pool, which offers a stunning view, is closed to families with children under 16. This rule feels excessive and puzzling. With proper supervision, there’s no reason why kids couldn’t be allowed there—especially since it’s not a rowdy bar environment.
• The indoor pool only allows children from 12:00 to 16:00, a strange limitation that’s not consistently enforced. On one day, kids are welcome; the next, they’re turned away. When the rooftop pool is off-limits and indoor hours for kids are so short, families are left with little flexibility.
• Needlessly complicated towel procedure: Getting towels for the pool requires picking up a special paper slip at the reception, then going to the -1 floor to exchange it. Even at the rooftop pool on the 9th floor, you’re expected to follow this awkward process. It’s time-consuming and inefficient—why not just offer towel cards like most hotels?
• Limited and unclear bar/café hours:
• The rooftop bar opens at 11 and closes by 17—even though it’s still light outside until 20:00. It feels like a missed opportunity for guests to enjoy the view with a drink in the evening.
• The bar in the reception area also doesn’t serve coffee, opens very late and has no posted schedule. This adds to the sense of disorganization.
• Spa service lacking warmth: While the spa facilities are okay, the reception staff didn’t feel as welcoming or attentive compared to other spas we’ve visited in Malta, such as Carisma Spa or the Hilton spa.
Final thoughts
The Maritim has all the ingredients of a great family hotel—good food, nice pools, clean rooms, and lovely grounds—but it’s held back by oddly strict and poorly communicated policies that reduce guest enjoyment. With more thoughtful management and a focus on guest experience, it could easily become a top choice for families visiting the area.

We spent 1 week on honeymoon in the hotel, we were greeted with a room upgrade, also rose pettles and red heart balloons on the bed.
The hotel staff were so friendly and really helpful with our questions through out our stay.
Lovely modern hotel, finished to a high standard...bed was fantastic, best sleep ever.
