Decent accommodation with comfortable rooms. We are in a lower priced room without a balcony or sea/courtyard view. It is clean, practical and spacious with everything we need for a week here. Staff have been friendly and efficient. I have no knowledge of the more expensive rooms (with balconies and better views), but would happily recommend for a very cost effective holiday.

We are really enjoying our stay overall. The room is excellent, and the services have been great. However, there is one major issue that affected our comfort: the very strong perfume used in the bedrooms. It seems to be coming from the central air-conditioning system. The smell is extremely intense and has made us feel unwell, even causing a burning sensation in our throats. Unfortunately, we can also notice the same strong scent in the restaurant.
Aside from this, everything else has been very good, but we hope the hotel considers adjusting or removing the fragrance from the central AC, as it can be overwhelming for guests who are sensitive to strong smells.

Pros:
The hotel is in a fantastic location with easy access to public transport. Rooms are clean, and the 16+ rooftop pool offers a peaceful environment. Rooftop staff were friendly and attentive. The steam room and sauna at the spa were relaxing and well-maintained.
Cons:
Some reception staff would benefit from being more approachable, as interactions came across as abrupt or unfriendly. I noticed another reviewer raised a similar concern, and while it was suggested that this might be due to the team’s diverse cultural backgrounds, in my view this should not affect the standard of guest service. Regardless of background, staff should be aware of their clientele and know how to interact with them. Note that this is not targeted to all reception staff as some were extremely welcoming and helpful!
The massage did not reflect the price charged. The room was uncomfortably cool due to the air conditioning and lacked the calming atmosphere typically expected in a spa, such as aromatherapy or a more soothing ambiance. For a 75-minute full-body session, the technique felt somewhat repetitive and uneven, with some areas rushed or missed. I’ve had far better experiences at a much lower cost elsewhere in Europe.

We have now returned to a very cold England, had a wonderful week at hotel with many thanks to Libby the guest relationship manager for ensuring that we had an accessible shower/bath in the room as my wife has trouble accessing some of the showers. Libby ensured that we had a room in the Annexe so that the entrance was step free adjacent to Coffee shop. We couldn't fault the room for facilities and cleansingness, which was kept up by the cleaning staff.
The hotel is very accessible as it is on the main route to the Gozo ferry with all the ferry buses passing close by.
We havbeen coming to Malta for many years & prefer to stay at the Maritim, we hope to be coming for a few more years as we enjoy the setting.

Let’s start with the positives, the rooms are well sized with good aircon, breakfast is plentiful and decent (ours was included but didn’t seem particularly expensive if you’re paying). The hotel is also very close to a few very good restaurants, just down the road. The beach is a good walk, or a few euro taxi away. If you’re just using this as a place to sleep and eat, all good there.
There’s good bus routes available from just outside the hotel if you’re using public transport.
However, I can’t particularly recommend this hotel if you’re travelling as a family with u16s and want to use the amenities. The roof pool & loungers which get sun all day are completely blocked for any u16s. You may think, well - there are two other pool areas, right? Well, in October the outdoor pool only gets a couple of hours of direct sunshine per day, during mid-afternoon. There’s a big building beside the pool which is entirely cropped out of all publicity photos, which means the pool is very cold and it still feels cold when you get out if not in the short sun window. The indoor pool only has a small number of loungers (10) around the small pool, and to top things off was often having the floor scrubbed with chemicals during the morning, which can make it much less a pleasant place to be. Some thought would have at least put this at the time when outside was usable, if not when the indoor pool is closed.
Because of the local landscaping, we also suffered a number of mosquito bites when trying to make use of the outdoor pool areas.
Also be aware that this hotel has expanded to also use the building over the road. This means you may well end up with a room that has no view of the church etc. The hotel does helpfully have an indoor way of crossing between the two, but does involve a lift down from reception, then passing through the tunnel before getting a lift back up the other side.
our balcony was barely big enough to get around the two chairs and bistro set, definitely couldn’t get a child also seated on the balcony even though the room is setup for 2+2.
We also suffered some early morning noise in our room from adjacent building work hammering on the walls.
