We just returned from our 10 days stay at Helea hotel. Overall we had a great vacation but can’t give 5 stars. Despite a very friendly staff, it definitely misses some details in order to qualify for a 5* hotel, especially for the price we paid for.
We started our stay on the wrong foot as we had booked a junior suite with sea view to realize that the “sea” was actually the roof of the building in front of ours. Luckily the hotel reacted fast and we got another room the day after.
It also misses a few things for a high standard hotel such as:
- housekeeping was usually done between 4pm and 5pm in our room. It’s too late.
- we often had to ask for additional towels as the dirty ones would be removed but not replaced.
- there is no hair conditioner or body lotion provided.
- on our way from our room to the pool we had to walk next to the hot stinky air coming out of the kitchen.
- buffet food is very repetitive, often rather cold and not very qualitative.
- the pool side is very slippery, quite dangerous with children.
Having said that, the good weather, nice staff and variety of activities offered allowed us to have a nice stay!

I had a great all-inclusive stay at Helea Resort in Rhodes.
The room was spacious and comfortable, with sea view.
The private beach is the highlight, quiet and a short walk distance from the main areas. The bar service was great, with a wide variety of drinks and delicious cocktails.
The resort is totally family oriented - aquatic park, cinema areas, activities.
Great choice for families.

Amazing hotel right in front of the beach. Our room was a sea view.
Food was good with great choice in the buffet but it was hard to book the other restaurants for the included experiences since they were often fully book several days in advance.
This is great for families. Has great facilities for kids and entertainment all day and night.
The staff is super friendly and kind and it does have a great selection of cocktails done with quality drinks that we enjoyed every evening ( included in the all inclusive experience)
Its a 15 min drive to town if you want to check the city and the b each area is lovely.
We will be coming back next season for sure.

We stayed at the Helea resort for 10 days earlier this month for our honeymoon and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. We were left actively annoyed throughout the whole holiday and we had wished we'd booked in a different hotel.
Staff
From the moment we got to the hotel, the staff were rude, dismissive and unhelpful, especially the reception staff. When we arrived, we weren't treated with a smile or congratulations on your wedding, which we were disappointed with. A few days in, our mini bar hadn't been refilled for 2 days and I went to reception to ask for a few cans of Fanta. We were met with an absolute no, no alternative and no apology for not having any drinks in the room.
Whilst we were queueing at the snack bar for a drink, we witnessed a staff member saying to the woman in front of us that "sex was better in his bedroom" when she asked for a sex on the beach and then insulted her friend by asking if she was her Mum (she was clearly in her early 20s). We were genuinely appalled and so disappointed by this behaviour. I went to the poolside bar at 5.50 to get a drink and the lady said they had closed and closed the shutters in our face.
We booked to use the escape room on 2 occasions and both times no one was at the escape rooms to let us use them. By this point, we did not want to discuss this with reception as we had been treated so badly.
Overall, we felt like we were an inconvenience to the hotel.
Room
The room was small and the decor very basic. There was marks on the pillow cases and I asked for replacement pillow cases to be brought to the room but these were never delivered. There was writing on the wardrobe and the curtains had brown stains on them. The view was amazing, however the balcony was very small.
The bathroom was very small and you couldn't have 2 people in there at the same time. The shower was really awful, you had to pull a lever out to keep the overhead shower on and this did not stay out by itself, so we had to put a piece of cardboard behind it to shower.
It was not a room I would expect in a 5 star hotel.
Cleanliness
Overall, the cleanliness was amazing and the cleaners were all super friendly. We were confused as towards the end of our stay, our body wash dispenser was refilled with just water to thin out the remaining soap, rather than actually refilled with soap.
Food
The buffet food was always hot however it quickly got repetitive, as it was mainly stew based. This wasn't overly an issue, they had a great salad bar and dessert buffet. The chocolate based desserts were absolutely amazing!
There were 3 a la carte restaurants and we were able to try all 3. The beach side one was disappointing and we had booked to go there one evening. When we got there, we were told there were only outside tables left and it was incredibly windy and we had to sit in this whilst we are dinner. We wouldn't of had a table if we'd of wanted to sit inside, which upset us.
The other 2 restaurants under the hotel were amazing and the tacos were to die for. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals here and the staff were very attentive at these restaurants.
Honeymoon destination
Although we didn't expect any special treatment for our honeymoon, it would have been nice. We did have a bottle of prosecco in our room, however I don't drink so this was sort of redundant to us. We would of much preferred a congratulations when we arrived over this.
We wouldn't recommend this as a honeymoon destination and it is very much aimed towards families. We didn't feel special whilst being here.
Overall, we were disappointed. The whole experience left us feeling deflated and wanting to get back home. The final thing that really put us off the hotel, was on the final day, my husband got food poisoning as we were leaving the hotel and was incredibly ill. We had not eaten anywhere but at the hotel for 7 days by this point. We won't be returning to this hotel.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Halea resort, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the crew made us feel right at home. Their warmth and professionalism were evident in every interaction.
The hotel’s facilities are truly impressive: the expansive pool is perfect for both relaxation and fun, and the beachfront area is absolutely stunning. The variety of facilities, including the serene spa, well-equipped gym, and delightful dining options, all exceeded our expectations.
The food was fantastic, with a diverse menu that catered to every palate. What truly stood out, however, was how the entire team made us feel welcome and comfortable with our baby. From the front desk to the restaurant staff and room service, everyone went above and beyond, making us feel like part of a big family.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire Halea team for making our stay so special. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
