Expensive for what it is. I’ve stayed in nicer hotels in the U.S. for less. It’s all inclusive and the photos make it look nice but it isn’t really isn’t as nice in person. The courtyard is nice, the check in area is impressive. But the room was not very clean, had a smell and was a little bit falling apart. Not part of the hotel, but the ride to the hotel is a bit scary. Police everywhere with semiautomatic weapons patrolling the roads, and it reminds you that you are in a dangerous place. The resort itself is quite safe though, and in all honesty it was fine… I just felt like I paid more than it was worth.

We would just like to say how impressed we were with the food. So delicious and well presented. Just wanted to point out the superior service we recieved from Ivan one of our servers. His way with customers is exemplary. I really hope his managers appreciate the gem that he is. This young man has a real future in food service! Do not overlook his talents! Our waiter Angel was very attentive and caring. These two men made for a perfect evening!

Delicious food and great service. Sandro and Pedro were excellent hosts Alfredo at the grill was also an excellent host. We really enjoyed both our meals there. Special thanks to Ivan who also works there. He made the vacation special. He remembered us and was so very kind and hospitable.

Come here if you like food poisoning! 3/4 people in our group were sick during the week. We each lost 2 days. Constant construction as well, loud every morning. Sewage smell outside our room, so you cant use the balcony. They are also pushy with their timeshares, stay away from any presentation about their "exclusive club," not worth it. Steak Grill restaurant was good. Also worth noting, it's not a 24 hour all inclusive. You have to go to the disco at the resort next door for a drink past 11pm, they stop at 1am. Then reopen for alcohol 11am the next day. Snack buffet closes at 2am. There are better resorts for sure, save your money.

During our stay at the resort, everything was pleasant and very well organized by the butlers and their assistants. They were always aware and willing to help and coordinate our activities so that they were always as we wanted. The restaurants we visited were full of good dishes and lots of attention. We are very grateful to the organizers and waiters who made our Romantic Dinner and Birthday night possible. Kudos to Cristopher, Ivan, Valeria, Rogelio, and the guys at B Loved (especially our waiter Antonio). We hope to see you all on a future visit.

This was my first stay at an all inclusive resort in Mexico and it was an overall lackluster experience. While the overall service was mediocre, there were a couple of standout staff members who were wonderful from day one to the end of our trip. The facilities were in poor condition. As many other have said, there was an inescapable mildew scent in our room and we kept the AC running the entire time to mitigate the smell and humidity in the room. It was a decently clean resort, but there were definitely areas of disrepair with holes in the ceilings from water damage (in one instance there was a hole with water actively dripping). The food was mostly disappointing, although there were some decent options at a few of the restaurants. The buffet was very disappointing. The resort photographs beautifully, but in person it is apparent that it has not been well maintained. Fortunately, we were upgraded to preferred status so had access to everything. But if this had not been the case, we would have been much more limited to areas in the resort including access to restaurants and the preferred pool (important for those days when the other pool was fully occupied). Overall, would not recommend this particular resort. For the price, I expected better.

The resort was much smaller than I anticipated. My room 237 smelled like a sewer 3 of the 5 days we were there. Not to mention our T.V. did not work for the majority of the 1st day. While maintenance would pour a bleach solution down the drains daily, it was not until my 3rd complaint about the smell in the room that we were offered a different room (the night before we checked out). Overall, the resort staff were friendly, professional and accommodating (especially the wait staff). I felt that the food was decent for an all inclusive resort. The Sushi restaurant a Steak House served delicious food and the Mexican grill on the beach did not disappoint. I will say that while the beach area was somewhat small, the water was clean and water sports such as paddleboarding and kayaking were readily available for guest to enjoy.

Had a great time at this resort. Kid friendly, good location in a gated community, staff and service were great. Check in process was smooth. The buffet was mediocre, quality and selection of food not the best. But the a la carte restaurants were delicious and the service was good. Minor issues would be room cleaning schedules were inconvenient, some days they would clean as early as 8am or as late as 8pm. Sometimes not at all. Also be careful if you have food allergies, a few times we mentioned peanut allergies and they would serve dishes with peanuts or get them confused with other nuts. Overall, great resort if you’re looking for a smaller, family friendly resort in a safe community.

From the second we walked into the hotel we were welcomed with warm smiles from all the friendly staff. The staff did an amazing job at making us feel at home. The first night I accidentally missed a step and sprang both of my ankles. They saw I was having trouble and immediately helped me and from then on they continued to check on me to make sure I was comfortable. Everyone was so helpful throughout our whole stay. From helping us find activities to do, to renting golf carts and just simply having good conversations. During our stay we experienced hurricane beryl and I will say they did an astronomical job at keeping their guests safe. They also were very quick at cleaning up after the storm so guests could get back to enjoying the pools and the hotel grounds. The hotel also had different activities going on through the stay so there is plenty of things to do. I recommend renting a golf cart to drive around the community. Room service was amazing and pretty quick every single time. There are different restaurants and places to eat in the hotel and around the property. Dolphin experience was a must do! Overall I would be happy to come back at stay!! It was such a positive experience! Thank you Dreams for making this a vacation we will always remember.

Was here for 4 nights for a destination wedding. Let me say the place photographs exceptionally well and all the public social spaces are well kept: the entry is beautiful with a circular drive and free valet. My mother was booked in the Catalonia next door and they wouldn’t even let her walk up the steps without paying a $110 fee per day just to walk the grounds. They even told her that on the wedding day they would grant her free access since she was attending the wedding, but they charged her anyway. Other than that the staff was nice. The layout was interesting and very pretty. We did not book thru the wedding reservation booking because in order to get a mediocre discount we would have to attend a 3 hour timeshare presentation immediately after checkin. We booked thru Expedia and saved $700 as well as the 3 hours for not attending the timeshare presentation. The room photographs beautifully. We got a “private swim out room”. The room has a patio door with a small pool that’s advertised as private… it’s not. It connects to the rooms next to you, and past that, is the main grounds for the pool area… not private at all. The a/c worked well, and it was nice and breezy throughout the areas. The part you miss from the photos is in the details. The exhaust fan in my bathroom doesn’t work.. the switch is there, but it doesn’t move and it’s badly installed. All the vents are rusty. The bedding was fine. Not heavy. The shower was huge but the shower head hung at 5’7” and I’m 5’11” so I had to crouch to shower. There were tons of shoddy repairs in the room, which smelled like mildew and mold. The blackout curtains were great. The sconces down the main hallways have exposed wires hanging out. The phone in my room didn’t even have a cord…There was a huge wet hole in the ceiling right in front of the bridal suite… surprised they put a wedding party in a room where there was a huge hole in the ceiling by the door. They have a main pool area and then if you’re in the preferred club (we were) you have access to the preferred restaurants and pool. There’s a decent beach as well tons of lounge chairs. It wasn’t very crowded at all. Menus at the restaurants have maybe 8-10 options each. Most of the food was good. They say the water in the kitchens is purified but don’t drink the water in your rooms from the tap. They provide drinks in your fridge daily so you always have plenty of water and they’ll bring you more if you need it. Oh, and you can’t flush toilet paper, there’s a little waste basket next to the toilet—I know it’s just the way things are in certain areas but I found that disgusting. If you want Instagram photos to brag about, you’ll be fine… the place photographs beautifully, but I feel it’s overpriced, even for an all inclusive resort. the devil is in the details, and idk maybe I’ve just got too much hotel experience. I didn’t feel it was very clean, there were lots of bad repair work everywhere. This is a Hyatt property and so I thought I was in good hands. I would never stay here again.

As it seems hard to come across an accurate review of the Barceló Maya Caribe, here's my take: The good: - The beach is amazing; one of the best we've ever been to; - The staff, overall, was pretty nice and polite - especially Feliciano (the guy painting ceramics by the beach); - The cleaning is very good - our room was always spotless; - There's a great variety of things to do at the resort - Yoga, Dance Classes, Loteria, free snorkeling material...; - The room is very spacious and the bed is very comfortable; - There's a 24h open bar, in case you get hungry, which is great! - You also get to use the amenities from some of the other resorts part of the same chain which is an interesting concept. The bad: - The noise! Soundproofing is non existent, so you can hear everything from the rooms next to you. Also, there's a lot of partying at the hotel - we were woken up most nights by drunk guests speaking and singing loudly in the corridors with no respect for others. We had to call security once. It'd be great if the hotel could warn guests about not making noise and disturbing others - maybe putting up some signs; - Most reviews you see here are complementing random staff members from the restaurants. Why? Because they'll push a dishonest review out of you. It happened to us and it was very uncomfortable. They'll get up to you with a QR code and their name on a piece of paper and won't leave you alone until you make a 5 star review of the hotel - therefore its rating here; It happened at Tokyo (their "Japanese" restaurant); - Food is average at best. You may get some nice meals but, overall, it lacks quality - the Spanish restaurant was the best one and still not great (great service from the staff there, though); Overall an okay experience, specially considering the amazing beach they have. Nevertheless, it's quite disappointing to notice all staff waiting for tips for the most simple things - guess it's because they receive a lot of Americans/Canadians.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tokyo restaurant, and I must say, the service provided by Cristina and Lucia was outstanding. From the moment we sat down, both waiters were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was perfect. Cristina was quick to offer helpful suggestions from the menu and made us feel like valued guests. Lucia's attention to detail was remarkable—she ensured every aspect of our meal was exactly as we wanted, checking in regularly but never being intrusive. Together, Cristina and Lucia created a seamless dining experience. Their professionalism, coupled with their friendly demeanor, made our visit truly special. I can't recommend this restaurant enough, thanks to their exceptional service!

my husband and I had a dinner reservation at La Fuente; and our whole experience from service, food and atmosphere was terrific. Our waitress Lizbeth, was super attentive and open to giving suggestions to various foods which were spot on! Each one of the 4 courses were delicious. Thankful for this experience, and to our waitress for making our night a smooth and pleasant one.

Restaurant Tokyo Karla Nanci was our server and was so attentive and sweet. Always made sure we had what we needed in a very timely manner. Chef Jose was fun and made our experience enjoyable. Great food, wonderful staff, we all had a great time!

We went last night as a large family. They were able to accommodate everything. The chef did a great job! Very impressive. Our waitresses Lucia and Virginia were fantastic and very attentive. They had several tables to serve and kept up with everything with wonderful cheerful demeanor! Great place!!!

For Mexico LINDO restaurant : Abel Vazquez and Marcus Borges gave excellent service at this restaurant. Very friendly and let us practice our Spanish. Came back a few times to ask us if everything was well and refill our drinks. My friend gr and I had a great time! Thank you Resort : Rooms are nice. Nice view. Many amenities Great beach No birds on the beach

We just got back from our tip at Maya beach (Nov 2-9) I found the hotel to be lovely and clean. The rooms were quite small for a family of 4 but that was our only issue while staying here. Selena and Faustina at the beach buffet were amazing and always took care of us during our meal times. The food selection was mediocre. It would have been nice to have more authentic Mexican cuisine. The beach was incredible, always clean and free of seaweed. We really enjoyed swimming with the dolphins in the dolphinarium! All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we will definitely be visiting again!

The hotel is beautiful, the beach is the best of 3 hotels I have been to along the coast. The buffets have a great variety! Service is amazing. I had the best dinner at the Mexico Lindo restaurant with service from Josue Lopez and Miguel Lopez. The Mariachi Band during dinner was a special touch!

I would express how wonderful, friendly, professional the staff are. Specially at the buffet beach. Tomas, Guillermo, Selena and many more. All the way to maintain staff also the cleaning crew who are seldom mentioned. This experience has been wonderful because if these amazing individuals. Now, some of the rooms need some fixing and paid attention too. One of my family's room was very heavy smell and the ceiling had what it seemed to be mold. Also due to the rain...thought no one can control the weather. Two single mom's with children had to move rooms do to leaks in the late evening and not a gesture of a small compensation was given even when asked about it.

We have a group of 30 people staying at this resort for a friend’s wedding. During the wedding we talked about the rate we paid for the room. My friends all paid $200 to $250 per night while I paid $400 per night. We all booked the same room during the same period of time. They even stayed for the weekend but I only stayed during the week. I tried to ask the manager politely if he can offer a little discount because I don’t understand why I’m paying so much more than my friends. The manager was very very rude to me from the beginning. He didn’t bother to check my friend’s or mine reservation. He said it loudly “EVERYBODY HAS TO PAID FOR THEIR STAY”. I was like “WHAT?” I didn’t ask you to waive the fee completely. I only asked for a 5 % or 10% discount. I asked him why I’m paying $400 a night and my friend is paying $250 a night. He refused to answer. He keeps saying that it’s because some of my friends got a 10% discount code. I said, “10% will make a different of $20 per day but not $150 per day.” Then he said, “there is nothing I can do for you. How would you like to pay? Credit card or debit card?” I have never encounter such a rude staff in hotel industry. This “manager” didn’t even bother to listen and understand my questions and my needs. He had to act like I was asking not to pay a dime for my stay which was totally not true. Please take your hard earned money somewhere else. The attitude I got from this manager made me decided that I’m never coming back to this place.
