This is our first trip down here. Very pleased with the property and amenities so far. Staff friendly and always greeting us. Very well maintained property. Wife and I first day here we took a
dvantage of the spa and massage. Went to the Steakhouse grill called Steakville..Estela was our server. Very kind, patient and helpful with menu choices as my wife has a gluten allergy and we didn't need her getting sick on our first day here. What a pleasant person she is. The atmosphere is really nice too.
Went to Burgers this evening. Osiel was our waiter. He checked in on us often, refills on drinks, Burgers cooked ok and offered deserts. Pleasant guy and always on the move.

Service for the most part is good. The workers there are great. Of them all Pedro was the best.... His latte's were life savers in the morning. And his margaritas at night were delicious poison. He and the others seem to be there at least 15 hrs a day. Ernesto and the rest in steakville were great. The staff at Ayama were great. As for the other restaurants there I can't say bc I was never able to get a table bc of the "nueva systema".
This system they're running is pretty annoying bc you can walk up to a restaurant where it's half empty or more and they'll refuse to seat you ..... I know it's the corporate Overlord's that make the rules but it's hard to be cordial with the host when you see that. Especially if you've tried waking up extra early, or tried the night before or tried to call to make a reservation and get nowhere.
The check in process really needs improvement. They make you wait until 3pm and once it hits 3 that lobby is a madhouse. Then they'll stick you in whatever room they please. Even if you "reserved" a certain room, which seems to be a theme here. To switch rooms they expect you to check out at 11 am the next day and wait until 3 pm to switch rooms.
In both rooms the shower doors didn't close properly and would leak water all over the bathroom floor. I resorted to putting a rolled up towel inside the shower in front of the door to minimize the biblical flood every time I took a shower. There's also gaps around both room doors that I had to "fix". The bottom of both doors had a 3/4" gap in the bottom that I again used a towel to cover when we went to sleep. Although there aren't very many signs of pests I rather be safe than sorry.
The buffet places were decent and staffed with busy bees zipping back and forth cleaning, serving and restocking.
All in all for an all inclusive resort this place is better than most.
The one thing that I will say is that the coffee is delicious.

Very nice place, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Food was good at the buffet and great at the restaurants . Pools and Beach were also very enjoyable. Rooms were nice , mini fridge "stocked" , all amenities you would expect.
Just a couple things keep it from being 5 stars , for me. Like a 15/20 minute window @ 7:50 am. To book your dinner reservation for that evening. Also an all inclusive that doesn't serve any alcohol before 11:00am. I'm on vacation, sometimes you need a little hair of the dog to push through, and the stocked fridge is water , assorted soda, 2- Modelo beers. My son asked for more and was told by room service they could only get 2 when he called down one evening, and they brought them warm. I paid extra for the premium package but was told Captain Morgan was for exclusive members ( buy into the time share crap) but the did serve a good spiced rum so ....
All in all a great time was had by 3 generations of family in a group vacation that will never happen again as my parents are in their 80s . I would certainly recommend this place to anyone.
Puerto Adventures as a whole is awesome, what a great place . Highly highly recommend.

We went to the Japanese restaurant and it was delicious! Ivan and Arturo did an amazing job welcoming us! Very polite and attentive and always there to make our dinner better. Amazing time and definitely recommend! Hopefully you get them as your server and chef so you’ll have a great time!

Myself, my mom and my daughter just returned after a 10 day stay at Catalonia Riviera Maya. To say the least, it was the worst experience I have ever had on a vacation. The buffet food was terrible and very boring same food every single day every single service nowhere to get a snack other than the crêperie or the sandwich hut both of those were also awful. Absolutely nothing to do for activities. Who the heck has a beach party at 7:30 at night and zero bar service additionally, who the heck has a pool party at 7:30 with no bar service. We couldn’t get a drink before 11 AM. Pool bars closed at 6 PM. Beach bar closed at 8 PM. Lobby bar had absolutely no seating. The service was also awful, One bartender manning the top side and bottom side of the pool bar at both locations. You had to wait at least 15 to 20 minutes at either end to try and get a drink. As far as the booked restaurants go, Ayana was good, but they advertise a fire show which never happened We were able to book this restaurant twice and never saw a full Japanese show either time. We couldn’t get into book the Spanish restaurant or the Italian restaurant at any point over the 10 days even waking up at 7:30 in the morning having a good Wi-Fi connection and trying repeatedly to book the restaurant. We attended the steakhouse twice also, first setting was decent. We had the beef tenderloin which was cooked well and the sides were also good. Second time we went to the steakhouse. We ordered the ribs. They were fatty and the lobster had soup tasted like it had been soaked in salt Not edible!! The week that we were there March 31 until April 9, 2025 I had to complain four times at the front desk that our refrigerator in our room wasn’t working. It wasn’t until I brought the Warm contents of the refrigerator to the front desk that they finally sent someone to replace the fridge. The beach was covered in sargassum, Which we anticipated being that it was the beginning of that particular season, however what we didn’t anticipate was the horrendous slave labour that we had to watch the staff attempt in order to clear the beach. Other resorts, we have stayed at provide a ATV with a ranking system attached to quickly clear the Sargasm and then have Staff do some minor raking in order to clear the space. Let’s not get started on the beach It was rocky and on a hill very small, trying to get into the water at any point was Painful and there was absolutely no sound no matter how far you swam out nothing but rocks not very deep water and that was with wearing water shoes. We brought my 18 year-old daughter with us and she was bored to tears. What kind of a place has beach volleyball in the wind and can’t pivot to give an alternative activity when there are high winds happening and a hill that the ball rolls down did we go to grandma camp Where all they give you is bingo and cornhole. Exceptionally disappointed Paying $2600 Canadian for 10 days was an absolute waste of money. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else pay the extra 500 bucks you’ll be much happier.
Disappointed
