Just spent a lovely 2 weeks here at the Occidental Costa Cancún. I would like to say thank you to all the staff who work there and helped to give us a great holiday. In particular, Pedro who helped me with my booking and arranged THE best room in the hotel for me, Sheyla in Guest Services for her assistance, Adilena who did a wonderful job cleaning my room, Maria from the buffet restaurant who always greeted everyone with a beautiful smile and was so helpful, along with mi amigo Milli Vanilly the waiter, mi amigo, who was such a nice friendly helpful waiter there. Last but not least Sandra Cruz the lobby bar waitress, so hard working but always found time to share a laugh.
But really, everyone there worked like trojans, especially as we had the spring breakers there at the same time, thanks to the bar staff of both bars for fitting me in between serving all those shots and cocktails!
As the hotel is a little on the small side, it did feel a bit cramped when it was full but I still had a great time, and compliments to the cooks/chefs. Surprisingly good quality food and a reasonable variety to keep us interested, and the important thing, no stomach upsets whatsoever! And I lost count the number of nights I went to bed and woke up later with the lights still on as the bed was so comfortable!
I have to say this friendly, comfortable hotel gives fantastic value considering the room rates, so thanks very much and hope to see you all again sometime!
There was always a sunbed on the beach, and the sea was calm, clean and shallow. no more than chest high and had a sandy floor and a lifeguard on duty all day. I enjoyed watching the various boats coming and going from the small harbour next door. Very handy for the ferry to Isla Mujeres and other boat trips, though some might not like the very occasional whiff of diesel and petrol fumes.

I recently enjoyed a holiday with my family at Occidental Costa in Cancun. At first, I was a little bit concerned due to some negative reviews, but honestly, for this budget, they are doing an excellent job! The food, cleanliness, and overall service were all up to the mark.
The location is also a big plus — very close to the airport, popular tourist attractions, and offers a beautiful beach view right from the resort.
The food selections, cooking styles, and the 24-hour snack bar were impressive — always fresh with different items every day!
The only part I didn’t like was the 90-minute presentation about buying a membership. It felt a bit pushy and just wasn’t for me.
But overall, the experience was great, and I would definitely recommend it for a budget-friendly and enjoyable family vacation.

Our family just got back from a 10 day stay here, which was probably a little long. The staff are great. The buffet was good, but became repetitive due to the length of time we stayed, but there were some nice theme nights. We ate at the Mexican and Italian restaurants and were not impressed. The entertainment and the entertainment staff were great. Very energetic and enthusiastic. Bartenders were great.
The rooms (despite them giving us an 'upgrade' when we got there) left a lot to be desired. I am sure there were nicer rooms, but ours had a slow draining sink, broken phone in the bathroom and a lot of general wear and tear. And my wife and my room was supposed to have a king size bed, but cam e with 2 doubles. We made it work because we had an adjoining room with our 3 kids in it and we weren't planning on spending a lot of time in the rooms. But again the staff were always ready to clean the room and restoke the fridge daily.
I would stay there again, but for a shorter visit.
Thank you to all of the staff that took great care of us on our memorable vacation.

I stayed at Occidental Costa Cancun – All Inclusive for a week with my daughter and friends, and sadly, this resort did not meet expectations at all.
We booked an oceanfront room with balcony, but the balcony was so small a chair couldn’t fit. We later found out larger balconies are available for the same price, but you have to request them. Throughout our stay, we had to change rooms three times due to poor maintenance—even the suite we paid extra for had issues, including a stained jacuzzi on the balcony that took over 20 hours to fill.
The beach is tiny, and the food was subpar across the board. The only decent meals were the fried fish at lunch and the Mexican restaurant. The Italian restaurant lacked basic dishes like spaghetti/meatballs, and the steakhouse was disappointing. Drinks stop being served at 11 PM(even if you oder room service), which is unheard of at an all-inclusive. There’s no night entertainment or club, and room service is not included in the price if you do order it, it can take over 3 hours to arrive.
The worst part was the constant noise at night. The resort is filled with rowdy, drunk college-aged guests, shouting and partying in the halls until 3 or 4 AM. Many of them would fill water bottles with alcohol before 11 PM to keep drinking all night, which created a wild, chaotic atmosphere—not relaxing at all.
The staff experience was mixed—the bellboys and a couple of front desk male staff were polite, and some male restaurant servers were kind. But the female staff were often rude and dismissive. One refused to let us sit by the window in an empty restaurant, and another nearly denied us dinner because we arrived at 10:30 PM when the buffet closed at 11.
This resort might look affordable, but you truly get what you pay for. If you’re looking for a relaxing, clean, and enjoyable vacation experience, look elsewhere. Not recommended.

Went in April. We had a blast! Big shout out to Roger by the pool.. making every day a blast. His energy was amazing. Juanita is the sweetest woman, Sergio was great to chat with and every other staff member went out of their way to extend their hospitality and make everyone feel welcome.
Rooms we were great. We had adjoining rooms.. it would have been nice for both of us to have a balcony.. but I understand with the setup. The hammock was an amazing touch to the balcony. We used it alot. We were facing to pool.. so it was noisy with shows until 1030 or so. Wasn't to bad. Would rather that view than facing the other ways. :)
Beach was small but it was beautiful. Right next to the wharf though. On the plus side... no sand mites! (Which have gotten me bad in previous beach vacations)
Food was great. Snack bar for a late or early snack with a nice selection at the buffet. Drinks kept flowing. Would definately come back here for an affordable family vacation!! Thank you for the great memories OCC!! 💜💜💜
