We stayed at Porto Carras Hotel in room 1275, and while there are some positives, unfortunately the negatives far outweigh them.
Positive:
The staff is truly exceptional. From cleaners to kitchen staff, waiters, and receptionists – everyone is polite, hardworking, and at a very high professional level. They were the highlight of our stay.
Negative:
The hotel itself is overpriced and definitely not worthy of a 5-star rating. Our room, overlooking the fountain and mountains, had visible issues: rust had formed on the bathtub drain, the first stream of water from the tap always came out yellow, the panel above the bed was broken, and cracks were visible all over the walls.
On the beach, there are not enough showers, and the beach bar and towel service only open at 10 AM – so if you come earlier, you don’t have access to either. There is only one toilet for the entire beach, which is unacceptable.
Inside the hotel, the second-floor corridor constantly smelled terrible because of leaking air conditioning units dripping onto the carpet. Thankfully, our room was not close to it, but it was unbearable when passing by.
Breakfast and dinner feel like a public canteen. If you don’t arrive early, the overcrowding makes eating uncomfortable. The staff, as hard as they try, simply cannot keep up with cleaning tables, leaving many sticky and dirty. The children’s chairs were always filthy – we had to clean them ourselves with wet wipes every single time before placing our child in one.
Overall:
For the price paid, all of this is unacceptable. The hotel trades on its name and location, but the facilities, maintenance, and dining experience are nowhere near 5-star standards.

Second and last stay at this hotel, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.
We booked a suite for extra comfort, but upon arrival, we found that the air conditioning wasn’t working. A technician came twice, yet the issue was never resolved, and we were moved to another room only after two days.
In the new room, the bathroom lights didn’t work. Despite several reminders, nothing was done to fix them.
For a supposed 5-star hotel, the service is far from the standard. Staff do the bare minimum, and during our 10-day stay, our room was cleaned only 7 times—apparently due to a shortage of housekeeping staff.
The food was acceptable but nothing special. Everything was consistently overcooked, especially the meat, often to the point of being burnt.
To cut costs, the hotel mostly hires students with little to no experience, which shows in the quality of service.
In short, for such a high price, this hotel is simply not worth it. It’s outdated, poorly maintained, and doesn’t even deserve 4 stars.

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The room was spacious(Junior suite) with a view of the pool and the sea. The food was excellent(breakfast and dinner) and the staff was very kind. Pizza was perfect every night. Beach and the pool was great and very clean. Perfect hotel for kids and real holiday!Highly recommended!

We had an overall pleasant stay, but there are a few areas that could definitely be improved.
• Daily cleaning was not at the expected standard.
• Pool area atmosphere: there is no music at all, which feels unusual compared to other hotels.
• Pool water: extremely cold.
• Sunbed reservation policy: unfortunately not respected or enforced. I noticed people leaving towels and objects overnight to reserve sunbeds, but nothing was done about it despite the rules clearly stating otherwise. However, when I left my towel for just 1 hour (the rule says 2 hours are allowed), other guests took my sunbeds. When I asked reception for help, I was simply told that sunbeds cannot be reserved and nothing could be done — which contradicts the posted rules and leaves paying guests in an unfair situation.
On the positive side, the food was excellent. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the Athos restaurant, and the Piazza Marina Trattoria served absolutely delicious meals.
Overall, the dining experience and staff hospitality were highlights, but better attention to pool facilities, cleaning, and policy enforcement would make the stay much more enjoyable.

Porto Carras Meliton was an amazing experience — very kid-friendly with plenty of amenities for the whole family. We especially loved the marina, the bar by the marina, and the taverna near the beach, which served excellent food. The only downside is that it can get very crowded, especially with the all-inclusive option. It feels like the restaurant capacity doesn’t fully match the number of guests. Overall though, a beautiful place with a lot to enjoy.
