Laughably bad. Aside from the nice building, this place is at best a two star and has all the markings of a property bought by investors intent on extracting every euro they can. Five star resorts do NOT: start their renovation and construction works in June, continue to charge full price and fail to disclose said works, block the entrance to the hotel with construction trucks, and close two of the restaurants on site, all with no notice and full price. They stuck us in one of the worst rooms in the complex. Look online, you’ll see zero photos of small rooms with no outdoor space, and yet they found one for us, on the first floor, just above a noisy bar. No possibility to change the room of course. Just shut up and pay. The pillows are flat, room amenities are non-existent, our window had a big crack in it, and the soft close on the door was broken. In all, it’s just pretty terrible.
Update: we were assured there wouldn’t be any renovation work on Saturday or Sunday. Sitting by the pool at 12:30 on Saturday listening to the construction. It’s happening one floor below our room. The room we were also assured was the farthest away from any construction noise . The crappy room with no terrace. You just can’t make this stuff up🙄

Hotel Ona Mar Menor Resort, advertised and sold as a 5-star hotel, is currently no better than a 2-star property. I was really disappointed, especially after returning for the first time in 18 years (when it was previously operated as an Intercontinental Hotel).
The hotel is undergoing refurbishment, which is not clearly advertised. As a result, both the food service and gym facilities are being run out of temporary rooms and are of very poor quality. The food was consistently substandard—poor in both quality and taste—with hot items served cold and looking unappetising. None of the onsite restaurants were open during our stay.
The gym consisted of cardio equipment, all of which was broken and unusable. The outdoor pool area was dirty, with broken tiles and weeds growing through the cracks. The indoor pool was worse—there was a slimy residue on the tiles that stuck to our skin. Additionally, our room had an electrical fault that left us without a functioning toilet light.
We paid £550 for 3 nights half board, and we are looking for a full refund. We have many photographs as proof.

The air conditioning in this hotel has been the worst aspect of my stay. I have changed rooms three times, and a technician has come to fix the air conditioner in two of those rooms. I am here on a business trip, and the lack of sleep caused by hot and humid nights has affected my performance at work, which is the primary reason for my visit. There is a ceiling fan that helps with the air circulation in the room, but it does nothing to alleviate the humidity or provide cooling.
Additionally, the sink drains in the washroom are not well-maintained, resulting in a sewage smell whenever hot water is used.

A lovely resort around 8/9km from Los Alcázares beach. Well laid palm trees in abundance. There are villas and apartments and a hotel. However if you like walking on the beach every morning then you will need a car.

We have visited the Hotel appartments twice. The apartments are not part of the actual hotel but are managed by it. We did not use the actual hotel. On both occasions when picking up the key upon arrival we got that feeling that we were looked down on and not feeling welcomed by the staff. The apartments were nice and clean though. Kitchen, eating and relaxing area in the same room and 2 smaller separate bedrooms. 2 bathrooms. A big terrasse. Shared pool - one pool for every 20-30 apartments. It is a big area. Some 20 pools in total.
BEWARE - we had booked our third trip to spend a week this summer - 6 months in advance. Just the day before arrival, the hotel cancelled our booking for no reason. I called them immediately and got a verbal confirmation that the booking was still active. My wife had a bad felling and in the evening before arrival, she called them hotel for yet another confirmation. This time the hotel clerk told us, that we (which we had not) had cancelled the booking and there were no other rooms free he could book us for. The clerk then hung up on us. By checking a few other booking sites the same evening we had several options to book the same apartments but to a much higher price. The booking agency told us, that unfortunately they had experienced this before…they offered us a descent compensation. But we cannot recommend to book here, if you want assuredness on your booking. We travel a lot and have never experienced something similar.
