A lovely stay but this is not even close to a 5 star hotel, I would say it is a great 4 star hotel. The rooms are just a little tired and in one our AC did not work. The breakfast whilst accommodating just lacks the hot buffet options top of the range hotels have.
We stayed in two rooms so got to see what the ocean view and rear view was like. I would always go for the pool view or ocean view as the rear view is just a road and is noisy.
The entrance foyer is lovely and the staff are great. Just for the 5 star price you are paying the place needs to work on the little touches.

Lovely this place. Absolutely beautiful hotel. The staff are wonderful and the rooms are lovely.
The location is quiet but not too far from amenities either walking or a short ride to the old town by taxi costs just 10 euro. The hotel is just a few steps from the beach too. It's fabulous 👌

Everything perfect. Very attentive stuff on the reception. nice interior, everything clean and on point. Good spa, fitness, outdoor and indoor pools, very close to the beach and nice view on the sea and the mountains. The food in the restaurant was also very tasty. Will definitely come back.

I stayed at SH Villa Gadea in Altea from May 27 to June 3, 2025, and the experience exceeded all expectations.
The hotel is absolutely stunning — elegant Mediterranean architecture, lush gardens, and breathtaking sea views that made every morning feel like a postcard. The room was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped, with a lovely terrace overlooking the pool and the coast.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. From the front desk to the restaurant and cleaning staff, everyone was helpful and professional. We felt truly cared for throughout our stay.
The breakfast buffet was outstanding — fresh fruit, local specialties, and plenty of healthy and indulgent options. The pool area was quiet and beautifully maintained, and there was always a sunbed available.
The location is ideal for a peaceful holiday. The hotel is just a short drive from Altea’s charming old town and not far from other Costa Blanca highlights like Calpe or Albir.
All in all, a fantastic place to relax and recharge. I highly recommend SH Villa Gadea to anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a truly serene atmosphere.

I wouldn't remotely call this a five star hotel. Service level is way below the expectations anyone would have on a five star property. They are very reluctant to supplying your needs - for instance, a wine opener was impossible for them to send up, and two empty wine glasses would incur a 5 EUR fee. Laundry service was not available on a Saturday, clothes would be delivered back on Tuesday evening. They don't valet. Simple things like that, every single day, weird. Nothing major, but they add up.
Most restaurants were closed throughout our stay, and the ones that weren't were pretty abysmal. Breakfast buffet is big, but of so-so quality... Luckily there are very good restaurants near to the hotel, but still, definitely not five star level.
The general design is impersonal, rooms are dated and not well equipped. No ironing, and the ones you can get sent up to your room are embarrassingly bad. The TVs are old and you cannot stream to them from your device, so you are stuck with Spanish linear tv. No coffee maker in our room.
Outside pools are COLD. I know, it's not uncommon in Spain for the pools to not be heated, but the true five star resorts definitely have it.
At the end of the day, I would probably rate this hotel as a low end four-star establishment. Not terrible, but definitely not luxury.
