We'd seen some of the negative reviews for this hotel, but don't let them put you off. The fact is, Tunisia suffered from covid like the rest of the world and are recovering from it. As long as you go in understanding that yes the rooms are a bit dated and let's be honest you probably haven't paid a fortune to stay here all inclusive then actually you're going to love it. The staff are so polite and helpful, yes tipping helps but they serve you just as well on your first day when you haven't gotten to the cash point. The food is good, there's something for everyone. It gets repetitive, of course it does but you can get great pizza from the pool bar, there's a pasta station, freshly cooked fish in the restaurant and crepes for breakfast. The drinks are always flowing and the bartender by the pool never let's you go empty for long. We honestly loved our stay here, it is clean, there are plenty of food and drink options and it really wasnt that busy so we always got sun loungers. I think the biggest indicator is to look at how politely the hotel responds to its negative reviews; unfailingly polite and acknowledging it will endeavour to do better. We did a few day tours and seeing other hotels in the area and speaking to other tourists, this is actually one of the better places to stay for the money you're paying. It's in a good area, some areas are very run down and derelict but at Mehari it's a well maintained area, you are next to the beach, marina and there's a lovely medina for shopping. Accept you're not paying a lot of money and it's a bit dated and you'll have a fab time.

An absolutely amazing hotel! Stunning location comfortable rooms and plenty of entertainment. The staff were all amazing! Ali at the private beach was fantastic, during our weeks stay he never stopped working and seemed to have eyes on the back of his head ensuring all guests were comfortable and happy he is a credit to the business. All staff were fantastic and made us feel so welcome and looked after! The bar and restaurant staff looked after us so well and housekeeping were amazing too, such a luxury to come back each day to a tidy room, fresh towels and spotless floors. There were minor improvements that could be made but over all an absolutely fantastic holiday, we are already planning our next trip. Thank you Mehari Hammamet!

Stayed here for a week for an all-inclusive break, the food was a big let down, same bland food day in day out.
On the hottest day of our stay, at 32 degrees having no air conditioning in the room was a killer.
The bar stock was very limited for choice.
The hotel itself was clean, the spa was great and the staff very helpful.
Never a 5 star hotel

The hotel has a very good location, but unfortunately the food was a complete disappointment. The organization in the restaurant is poor – grilled meat was hard, most hot dishes were served cold, and eggs at breakfast were never ready, so you always had to wait in a long queue. No water is served at breakfast, the coffee is cheap and bad, and the menu is the same every day – boring and repetitive. Honestly, the quality of the kitchen is no more than 2/6. Without this very low standard of food, it could be a great place to stay.
At the beach bar, beer is charged extra – shameful for an “all-inclusive” hotel. Rooms don’t have kettles, so you cannot have a coffee in the morning, and there are no coffee machines in public areas either. You need to wait until 7 a.m. when the restaurant or main bar finally opens at 8am– very inconvenient.
Public toilets in the hotel were dirty, without towels or toilet paper almost every day. Room cleaning was very basic: just replacing towels, adding toilet paper, and fixing the bed. Plates, mirrors, and surfaces stayed dirty even with daily tips – nothing improved.
Overall, a great location but very poor standards in food.

At first, the welcome seemed warm, but several things quickly left us disappointed. Our room was properly prepared only on the first day; afterwards, the cleaning was inconsistent at best, sometimes just a blanket thrown over the bed. It gave the impression that some guests received more attention than others.
Most frustrating was the constant questioning. Even when speaking Arabic, the staff repeatedly asked us for our room number or card: at the hotel beach, at the entrance, at the buffet, during meals. Being asked once is understandable, but after countless times it becomes tiresome and makes you feel out of place, as if you do not truly belong here. Meanwhile, other guests seemed to pass without the same scrutiny.
During meals, we often felt observed by the servers, which only added to the discomfort. We didn’t fit the picture of a “their” tourist, even though we always stayed polite and tipped well for good service. Some waiters were genuinely kind, but the overall atmosphere suggested we were not taken as seriously as other clients. Instead of feeling like valued guests, we were left with the impression that we had to justify our presence over and over again.
It is a shame, because the hotel itself has many qualities, but the attitude and treatment of certain guests cast a shadow over the whole experience. For us, it will be the last time in Tunisia
