My experience at The Fives…
This was my second time at the hotel. I came back with my children and my in-laws, and honestly, I do not recommend it. During our first stay with my husband, we had an amazing time — there was lots of entertainment and plenty of activities during the day. However, this time it was a nightmare trying to get into any restaurant. The food is very good, but with the waiting time (more than 30 minutes for a table), you no longer enjoy your meal the same way.
The only highlight was Oscar, who provided spectacular service. The rooms were clean and in good condition, although my in-laws’ room had humidity issues. We reported it to the front desk, but we were never given a solution.
The entertainment was practically nonexistent. Nothing mentioned on the hotel’s website matched what was actually offered (very boring). We paid for a table at the Super Bowl event, which promised lots of fun, but there were only a few musicians and nothing else. The shows during the week were very low quality and poorly organized. Whenever we asked the entertainment staff about activities, they never had clear information. My children looked forward to the activities, but they never started at the promised time. Not to mention the Aluxitos Club program, which was very basic, and the staff in charge were in a bad mood — very disappointing.
The beach is beautiful as always, and Sonia was very kind, preparing our lounge chairs every morning — that was definitely a highlight. She recommended that we speak with a manager, and he kindly helped us secure a reservation at the sushi restaurant, but this only happened on our last night.
We communicated our concerns multiple times to reception, entertainment staff, and guest services, but no one was able to provide a solution. Overall, it was disappointing, and we definitely will not return for our future vacations. It’s a shame because the facilities are beautiful and very well located in the middle of the jungle.

Beautiful property with spacious suites, a great beach, and a very unique jungle setting. One of the coolest aspects of the resort is how the pathways wind through lush greenery, including a small onsite cenote, which gives the property a distinctive atmosphere you don’t find at most all-inclusive resorts.
We traveled as a large multi-generational group and overall had a very nice stay. This is truly a fantastic family-friendly resort. The kids programming was outstanding - from the kids club to evening activities like face painting, breaking piñatas, and impressive fire shows. The staff clearly love interacting with children and go out of their way to make them feel welcome. Our kids created some core vacation memories here.
Dining was mixed but had some highlights. The French restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast, with consistently strong food and one of the best omelette stations on the property. The taco stand near the beach/pool was also a standout for casual lunches. The Mexican restaurant, however, was a bit of a letdown - the food felt fairly generic and the setting overlooked a pool and villa area rather than offering much ambiance.
Our biggest initial challenge was restaurant reservations, which were difficult to secure at reasonable times and created the impression of a noticeable “two-tier” experience between residence club members and regular guests. However, once we shared feedback, guest services responded quickly and stepped in to personally assist with reservations for the remainder of our stay. Their responsiveness and accountability made a significant difference and left us with a very positive overall impression.
One additional note: while the main pool area is beautiful, it is essentially the only large pool space and can feel crowded at times. More large pool options would improve the experience.
Overall, a beautiful, very family-oriented resort with a unique setting and a team that clearly cares about guest satisfaction when concerns are communicated.

We visited in February 2026 with a three year old. Coldest Feb for years but plenty warm enough for us except in the pool.
Our room in a villa was excellent although we were surprised there was no cutlery or wine glasses which would have been useful even with all-inclusive. These cost extra.
Food was very good indeed. We used Koh Thai, the Brasserie and Flavours.
The hotel was superbly maintained and the gardens were lovely.
It was nice to be surprised by animals occasionally - spider monkeys, coati and a range of birds. Our 3 year old was thrilled to see a bat.
Entertainment was varied and high quality, including for children. The kids club was interesting and felt very safe.
Service was outstanding. The staff all seemed to like their jobs, had time for a chat and made the atmosphere special.

The food was incredible. I had some of the best dishes I’ve eaten in a long time. The lamb and octopus dishes in Seasons were amazing. There are so many restaurants that even after staying 7 nights there were some we didn’t have time to try. All the waiters were attentive and a lot of fun especially during the dinners. The breakfast and dinner buffet was also very high quality. My ambassadors Liz and Andrea were able to get anything we needed during our stay. There are so many activités happening throughout the day. Some of the highlights were sushi and ceviche making and painting. And if you show up late they will literally stay later and do it again for you until everyone who wants to do it has had a chance to participate which is great because we are on vacation and don’t have watches half the time.
My favourite thing we have done here has got to be Temezcal and the meditation/rituals at the spa. They replicated indigenous practices for health and wellness. It was so unique something I’ve never seen at any other resort before. I will definitely be coming again. We had a minor issue with the room and they took it seriously and fixed it so they are very on top of everything. Lastly the beach when I went in February had no seaweed so we spent most of the time at the beach.

This was our second year at The Fives and it did not disappoint!
The grounds are beautiful and constantly being maintained; staff are genuine and friendly; food is even better than last year; and I even got to enjoy the fitness classes this year (pilates with Memo was top notch)!
As a family of 4 with 2 young children, this resort met our needs. Many kids friendly pools across the grounds.
Our ambassador, Melisa, was incredibly helpful and very available. Gigi, was so gracious and helpful.
The Gin bar made a delicious dirty martini.
The tacos are just delicious.
The list goes on!
