This resort is a little run down, with decent facilities (beach, pool) but showing its age (both elevators in our building were broken most of our stay). They will constantly pressure you to join their privilege club, sit through a presentation for perks, etc. The food looks good, with lots of variety, but for some reason I never had an appetite when it came to actually eating it. The only really outstanding food item was an exquisite cauliflower soup at one of the specialty restaurants. However the low rating is mainly because there was a nagging feeling of dishonesty from the staff. Several incidents left us with very low confidence about the place, and bitter feelings. Can't prove anything but we’ll pick a different resort next time. 1. My wife left a personalized jacket on a chair at one of the bars. No one could have honestly not noticed that it belonged to a guest. It was not turned in to Lost & Found; it just disappeared. 2. My goddaughter left her rings, one with a very small ruby, on the end-table next to her bed. It disappeared one day while we were out, when housekeeping were the only people in the room. 3. Upon checkout, we were not allowed to leave the property until we paid a $50 fee, without any documentation. The desk clerk maintained that it was mentioned on a letter she claimed we had been sent, but refused to explain it, and refused to give permission for us to be released from the resort until my wife relented and paid. We requested a statement explaining the charge and she refused, and the management company did not respond to subsequent email and phone requests.

Positives: Friendly Staff: The hotel staff was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, contributing to a pleasant overall experience. Flexible Check-In/Check-Out: The early check-in at 1 PM and late check-out at 1 PM was a significant plus. Additionally, we were allowed to store our luggage until 5 PM, making it easier to enjoy our last hours without the burden of our bags. Quality Buffet and Drinks: The buffet offered a diverse selection of delicious food, and the drinks were well-prepared and enjoyable, enhancing our dining experience. Negatives: Limited Activities: Despite a variety of activities advertised, there was a noticeable lack of events during our stay. Aside from the nightly show, the hotel felt quite quiet and somewhat boring, which may not appeal to guests looking for a lively atmosphere. Humidity Issues: The rooms suffered from excessive moisture, which was uncomfortable. The absence of a dehumidifier made the situation worse, affecting our overall comfort. No Iron in Rooms: The absence of an iron box in the room was inconvenient, especially for guests who prefer to look well-presented without having to request ironing services. Expensive Taxi Service: The taxi service offered by the hotel was quite pricey. We discovered that walking to the nearby road and taking a bus was a far more economical option (30 pesos compared to 800 pesos for a hotel taxi). Limited Golf Cart Availability: While the hotel provided golf carts for transportation, their limited availability often prioritized guests checking in and out, leaving other guests waiting or having to walk longer distances. Terrible beach: The beach was terrible with a lot of seaweed

I booked 2 rooms. The first with a king bed and the second one with 2 queen beds but received both rooms with 1 bed each. Front desk didn't want to switch my rooms. They wanted me to come the next day and see if they had availability. My refrigerator didn't work it took them 2 days to make it right had hot drink. Front desk services needs to improve and customer care needs to be taken in to consideration since we book to have a good experience without any problems. Waiters were great.

Staff are absolutely lovely, very friendly and helpful. They truly go above and beyond to try and make your day great. Unfortunately, we had NO hot water the entire week we were here. Not just our building, but multiple buildings had no hot water. Not even hot, WARM water. Water was colder than the pool and ocean. Food has its ups and downs, but really the staff and entertainment is the best part.

This is a decent cheap resort. Would I come back? No. I’d rather spend a little more next time to get a better experience. The room was outdated and honestly not clean enough for my liking. The food was okay, with the Mexican restaurant being the best. The resort staff is lovely, they were always happy to help! Shoutout to the lovely servers at the Festival buffet. We loved going there for breakfast and lunch! We went to the Halloween circus show and was pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it. And upon check in, Jacqueline and Cristal were able to get us a room even though we arrived at 7:30am, this definitely made our experience better. We barely spent any time at the beach or any of the pools due to never having a place to lounge as people saved spots like crazy. The beach/water isn’t pretty either. So if you’re looking for a cheap resort, this is the one. But if any of the above points are a deal breaker for you then I’d recommend that you stay away. I gave it a 3/5 stars due to the low cost but honestly would rate it more 1.5-2/5 in terms of the facility and overall offerings of the resort.

Fidel, Jose, Jorge, Maria, was incredible!!! Everyone at the hotel was incredibly hospitable and nice. All of the staff from the chef, to the mixologist, the front desk, and everyone at all of the restaurants were extremely respectable and helpful. They requested the best items on the menus, the service was on point, and never was there any sense of disappointment. If you want an incredible all inclusive experience this is the place to be!! I can't thank everyone enough, thank you for making mine and my husband's experience the best that we could've ever expected. We will definitely be back soon for more fun and adventure, thank you thank you thank you!!!

Our November 2024 stay at The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences was simply unforgettable! Traveling as a family with a 4-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 6-month-old baby, we experienced a level of care and hospitality that truly exceeded our expectations. The staff were warm, attentive, and always eager to ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The food options were outstanding, with a variety of restaurants to suit every taste. We loved the beachfront choices, offering casual pizza, Mexican dishes, burgers, and fresh seafood, as well as more formal dining spots perfect for an evening out. Each meal was delicious, and we appreciated the range of choices that made dining a joy for the whole family. The pool areas were another highlight, with several pools to explore, including a stunning infinity pool with sea views and a dedicated kids’ pool that quickly became a favorite for our children. The hotel is wonderfully family-friendly, providing all the essentials for a young family right in the room. If anything was missing, the lobby staff were only a call away, ready to accommodate any need. We were also impressed by the kids’ club, which offers supervised activities where children over 4 can play on their own, while those under 4 are welcome with a parent. We did encounter a minor issue during our stay, but Miguel and Mercedes took care of it quickly and professionally. Their prompt attention turned a small inconvenience into a testament to the staff’s commitment to guest satisfaction. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we highly recommend The Fives Beach Hotel for families with young children. From the beautiful facilities to the dedicated staff, it’s a perfect destination for a memorable family getaway!

very nice location and food, service was excellent. amazing selection of entertainment (special shoutout to Daniela, Gabriel, Fernando and Daphne) + things to do during the day, really lovely when the weather is nice, so many pools to choose from and they are all kept very well. the beach is great, with food and drinks so accessible, so you can easily spend a full day there. rooms are mostly great, with just a few tiny things that seem a bit outdated, but overall very satisfied. slight sewage smell in one of the rooms but it was near the mangroves so it is understandable. the gym was also closed with no notice for renovations so they could’ve given us a warning or an alternative.

Almost everything about our stay was perfect. Captain Erik and his Bell boy Crew were awesome and extremely helpful and friendly. Everyone was very pleasant and always had a smile but there were 2 exceptional staff members that stood out to us: our server at Flavours, Bernardo and one of the shuttle drivers, Gaspar. All of the Shuttle drivers were great. The food was mostly great and the Margaritas were delicious. The spa services were very relaxing starting with the hydrotherapy sessions. Adriana and Angelica were very professional and the facial/massage were excellent. We will definitely be back.

Our family’s experience was beyond great! My grandmother and I were there for 5 days for a wedding, and everything was amazing! The service was outstanding, especially the little carts that drove us around from places to places. I would specifically like to recognize Isaac from the cart services. He was super sweet, kind, helpful, my grandmother had unfortunately gone to the trip with a cast on her foot and he would always get in and out of the cart to help my grandmother. Not only him, but the rest of the guys from the cart services were amazing. Events were wonderful, the food, the drinks, everything. We would definitely love to go again in the future!

My family and I have stayed at Playa 8 or 9 times over the past several years, we really enjoy staying here or we wouldn’t keep coming back. The staff has always been wonderful and they remember us from our previous stays. The property is beautiful and the ocean out front is too. We just arrived today to do our first Thanksgiving on the property! So sorry to hear “Grandpa” retired a few months ago - loved seeing him from year to year, glad he had a wonderful retirement party. Thanks for making our stay memorable.

The pool area with WAY TOO many cabanas that they charge $170 for each day is ridiculous. There’s just a handful of free lounge chairs by the pool that are pool side, I’d say less than 25. And a bunch of other lounge chairs have umbrellas so no laying out. “The Royal” was a lot better than Hilton. The food options are terrible. They changed the menus. Pretty disappointed. The beach is about gone and rocks hurt if you try to enjoy the water.

I've stayed at this property 2 years in a row now and I just absolutely love it. The service is nothing short of spectacular every time, and the property is gorgeous. All the restaurants and bars are great, with the craft cocktail bar being our favorite and the bartender I forget his name but he also does music on the side. Alejandro is always so very helpful at the front desk. Location is also perfect right next to 5th Avenue and a short walk to the ferry to Cozumel. Highly recommend

We just got married and spent a week here, and I have nothing but positive things to say! The service and staff are incredible. Delicious food and drinks, the all inclusive is absolutely worth it! Nancy and the entire wedding team were phenomenal to work with and everything came out perfect. There are plenty of upgrades at every restaurant and throughout the resort. We opted to do a package at the spa, as well as upgrade to do Chef’s Plate one night, and both were totally worth it. Entertainment team and shows each night were great, we really enjoyed them. The beach area is pretty small, but the pools more than made up for it. We definitely are already considering returning for a future vacation!

The food is amazing at this all inclusive resort! Our favorite restaurants were Asiana and Chef’s Plate. The food at Chef’s Plate was so tasty and definitely worth the extra $$ Also, a huge shout out to Rodrigo from the Entertainment team for leading a fun and challenging Aqua Strong class! The workout was unique and challenged our core and stability. Rodrigo was a friendly and engaging trainer.
