I don’t understand why so many negative reviews on this resort. We stayed BlueBay grand Esmeralda with our two kids. Upon check in we upgraded our rooms to partial ocean view $300 cad to be closer to the ocean and main pool. Its well kept good room nice view but, i don’t mean other basic rooms are the same. The food was amazing we enjoyed until last minute of our stay. Very friendly staff from kids club to bar tenders to servers to reception good people. The ocean though it’s not swimmable. The entertainment was also is okay except the music selection. Overall for the money we paid it was a great deal.beautiful landscape too.

Do not waste your money had the worst service!! Buildings are old the toilet came right off the floor and we had to change rooms at 3 am in the morning. They had a night they didn't have enough food for the amount of people they had, for the buffet. Then we book the steak house for our last night. We purposely did not eat lunch as we were looking forward to the dinner. When we get there they tell us there is no steak house just the regular buffet. If you make changes inform your guests. Lastly it seemed they pulled a scam. The Day before departure, I went to go return the two beach towels. I was supposed to get a card But the gentleman in the towel booth did not give me a card back I asked is there not something else I should get or do you mark down a room number and he told me no So then the next day we go to check out and we don't have the towel card and so they charge me $60 US for two used shitty brown towels that I didn't even get to take home with me To argue That I asked the man in the towel booth and he told me there was nothing else I needed to do. The manager came out because at this point, I was clearly upset and told me if I don't pay it they're holding my luggage hostage so I can't leave but They would kick me off the property so at this point because the bus was getting ready to leave. I had no choice but to pay the $60 US which equals $99 Canadian I will never ever give blue Bay grand Esmeralda my money. Unbelievable. I honestly hope people really listen to this that it really was a pretty crappy place. Go spend your money elsewhere. You'll have a much better time.

We had an amazing stay at BlueBay Grand! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and relaxed. The resort is beautiful — stunning ocean views, clean and comfortable rooms, and plenty of fun activities to enjoy throughout the day.
The food and drinks were great, but what truly made our experience unforgettable was the outstanding service — especially from Jorge, one of the servers at the resort. Jorge was incredibly kind, professional, and always had a warm smile on his face. He made sure we were well taken care of every time we saw him, and his attention to detail and friendly attitude really stood out.
Jorge, thank you for going above and beyond to make our vacation so special! Your hospitality made a huge difference, and we truly appreciated everything you did.
We can’t wait to come back to Blue Bay — and we’ll be looking for Jorge when we do!

Extremely Disappointed – Would Not Recommend
My stay at BlueBay Grand Esmeralda was frustrating from start to finish.
• The lobby was extremely hot and humid — no fans, no airflow. Very uncomfortable check-in.
• Immediately greeted by a pushy timeshare salesman when all I wanted was to relax after traveling.
• Golf carts are supposedly available for transport, but rarely seen. Expect to walk a lot in the heat.
• Rooms are outdated, poorly maintained, and I found bugs in the bathroom. The AC barely cooled the room.
• Food was below average, and the drinks were cheap and watered down. Only positive — bartenders were friendly.
• Pool water looked murky and unclean, and there weren’t nearly enough lounge chairs for guests.
• Restaurant reservations must be made the day before — everything gets booked quickly. First-come, same-day seating would be better.
• Checkout process was unnecessary and confusing — having to get a slip to leave the resort? It just added more frustration to an already bad stay.
Overall, I would never return and cannot recommend this place. Unless they refund me, I won’t be giving this resort a second chance.

Stayed at BlueBay Grand Esmeralda in July 2025 for a one-week vacation — and overall had a great experience!
The resort grounds are lush and peaceful, with beautiful greenery, lots of wildlife (we saw coatis, iguanas, birds), and a relaxing vibe throughout. The pools were a highlight — clean, big, and never too crowded. Perfect for lounging and enjoying the sun.
Our room was simple but clean and comfortable, with great housekeeping service daily. Nothing luxurious, but everything worked well and we slept great.
The staff were absolutely amazing — 5 stars across the board. Always smiling, helpful, and professional. A big thank you to the entertainment crew and restaurant servers who made each day more enjoyable.
Food was good overall, with plenty of variety at the buffet and some solid à la carte options. We especially liked the Italian and Mexican restaurants. Drinks were decent and service was quick.
The beach had a lot of seaweed during our stay, so we mostly stayed by the pools, which were well-maintained and had fun activities going on.
Highly recommend BlueBay for a relaxing
and budget-friendly getaway — especially if you enjoy good service, nature, and pool time. Would definitely consider coming back!
