The hotel is so amazing we extended our stay here. The pool is huge. The fitness room is clean and spacious. I really appreciate their shuttle bus to a local beach - they even pick you up when you call them. The lemon grass shampoo and body soap is a very nice touch. The breakfast is great - a huge spread of food! I highly recommend this hotel.

This is a popular hotel, both among Thais and foreigners, so you are not going to be too disappointed. That said, I found the whole experience somewhat lacklustre.
To manage expectations, you should remember what rate you paid. Although it might be classified as a five-star property, it is not in the same category as the Marriott, the Intercontinental or the Hyatt Regency. That should be clear from the fact that the room rate is between a third and a half of those at the aforementioned properties.
First thing to be aware of is that if you book a deluxe room with a resort view you may, as we did, get a blocked view. See accompanying photo. It took some effort for the staff to change our room. In other Onyx properties, the mere mention of a blocked view has the staff doing everything possible to move you. I queried why guests were not made aware of the blocked view before arriving. The staff member said that the hotel preferred to inform guests after they arrived. I find such a practice indefensible.
Second, staff are not, overall, falling over backwards to help you. In some instances, they were little more than surly. At breakfast, they were pretty lethargic.
Third, breakfast itself was just about ok. I certainly wouldn't include it again if we stayed on another occasion. The coffee was bad, the western options were the same every day, jams and spreads were poor quality and the sausages were cheap frankfurters. Staff were slow to clear tables. However, the actual interior breakfast room was very nice, with both natural light and good artificial lighting.
The rooms themselves were pretty good, each with a large balcony.
Now, and this is the reason I would probably return, the location was excellent. You can either walk to the beach or take the buggy. The beach itself is spectacular. We visited at the end of April and the water was still clear. We walked from one end to the other several times and in those 8 km, I saw no rubbish. It really was pristine.
So, overall, I would recommend the hotel at the 80 dollar price point, but take a room that is a category higher than their deluxe room.

We had a great stay. The room was nice & clean, comfortable. The hotel’s location is good — just a short walk to local markets and great food options. Too bad, the hotel does not have its own beach access anymore but still offer a drop/ pick up to the public beach for guests. Still recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in Hua Hin!

Simply Wonderful – Hotel Amari in Hua Hin
We arrived at Hotel Amari in Hua Hin without a reservation and were warmly welcomed. A special thank you goes to the lovely staff member Mae and the manager, whose excellent leadership is clearly reflected in the overall atmosphere of the hotel. Our wishes were not just fulfilled they were exceeded! The entire team is incredibly child-friendly and attentive. We chose the Family Suite, which was very clean, peaceful, and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent, the restaurant offers a wide and delicious selection and the room service was truly a highlight! The food was prepared with care and the kitchen staff was very accommodating to our individual needs. Since my husband is quite careful with food, we were especially grateful for their flexibility and attention to detail.
We also had the chance to visit the spa and it was absolutely amazing. The team there does outstanding work – professional, relaxing and a real treat during our stay.
We felt completely at home and would love to come back anytime. A true feel-good hotel for families!

When we arrived, we asked politely if our rooms could be close to each other as a family — ideally on the same floor and with twin beds. We hadn’t specified this during the booking, but it seemed like a reasonable request. Ian at the front desk told us it wasn’t possible because the hotel was “fully booked.”
However, we were then given rooms but one of them with a single bed, and when we checked it, it had a strong, unpleasant smell — like humidity. I went back to the lobby to raise the issue and mentioned that I would be leaving a review. Suddenly, Ian said they found a better room for us.
It really felt like the issue could’ve been resolved earlier, but wasn’t taken seriously until I brought up the idea of writing a review. Not a great first impression, and it left us questioning how genuine the customer service really was.
