The beach is large with lots of chairs, it’s honestly spectacular. The pools are a great layout for families although they were far from clean and if you want a shady area to sit you have to go out at about 5 am to mark your spot. The food was enjoyable and the a la cart restaurants were very good. It was difficult to get an early reservation in order to eat before the babies had to go to bed, you have to go down to guest services very early and request this and then go back later in the day to confirm. The service was overall quite poor, that’s not to say all employees were unhelpful but it was a mixed bag depending on who you got. I had to fill bottles of milk for my baby and many employees would give me a carton for the room but I did have one woman flat out refuse and only offered me a cup which wouldn’t fill even the whole bottle. Also there is no non-dairy milk option so if you or your child has an allergy this would be an issue. We were travelling with family and young babes so we asked for rooms to be close together ahead of time and were refused any help both ahead and at the resort when we landed. We also asked to reserve cribs and we’re told they were first come first serve so we had to bring our own travel cribs to ensure our babes had a safe place to sleep. If we didn’t ask ahead we could have shown up with no where for our babies to sleep. The rooms are dated which wasn’t a big deal to us but the toilets didn’t flush very well and the room wasn’t always cleaned daily, we each had a day where a room wasn’t cleaned or towels weren’t replaced. Overall the resort is a great size and the pools and amenities are great for young families but I would say the service really needs to level up to match the same standard.

Excellent service.... all the staff was welcoming and helpful.... the ocean was amazing (if you like a little waves)... shout out to Omar at the PM bar, he is the best.... the overall atmosphere of the resort was unreal... laid back but wide open and free... most relaxing time of my life... thanks for the memories.

The location was amazing, with a beautiful white sand beach. It is very convenient and easily accessible for everyone. The wait staff and entertainment crew was superb! It was a great time and place to go! Rooms need to be upgraded but overall the amenities around the resort was clean and in good shape.

The grounds are clean and well kept. The ocean view, breath taking. This is an older hotel with horrible plumbing. During our week here we had the same sand filled sheets, singular dirty coffee cup ( when we asked for a cup for my spouse, we were told “no”). The guest services guy was aweful. We attempted to get dinner reservations our first 4 nights and were told everything was booked ( getting to his office at 07:05 in the morning). As soon as he wasn’t working, the ladies were able to get us booked for meals. The general buffet was good and well stocked. The guest services man is the primary reason we will chose another hotel when we return to DR. The spa was clean and a nice experience as was the private lobster dinner on the beach (not booked by guest services) Most of the consensus of the American guests was this is not an American friendly hotel. We weren’t sure if it was nationality or that we didn’t purchase the 100k “vacation club” that was aggressively perused day 1. As many reviews state, there is a lot of diversity at the hotel and almost all guests were pleasant. Few staff spoke English. Most of the bar tenders mix light, but we are very light drinkers, so this was fine. We stuck with bottled water and had no digestive concerns. There is a medical clinic on site, but never had to be used. We were locked out of our room on 4/5 occasions. We did note day care and children activities which would be nice for young parents

Great choose for family, Long Beach for walking and several activities inside and outside the hotel. The food is fine, pools are big and great, it can be better the buffet and the restaurants reservations can be highly improved. The place overall smells like cigarettes smoke and some rooms are not good at all, bad smells like old wood wet, air conditioned with leak and the bar not have consistency in the cocktails because the preparation vary for the bartender, Small Gym

Absolutely love the occidental Punta Cana ! This was our second time visiting in the last 7 years and it was just as good as the first time! The food in the buffet always changed daily and you could find something for everyone,The drinks at the bar were always good and the service was amazing. Night time they always had great shows/entertainment on the main stage,the beaches were absolutely breathtaking and super clean. Rooms were also super clean and up to date,The restaurants on the resort were always nice and each one had a different vibe with great food. Customer service was always great and anything we needed was delivered right away. The pool swim up bar was a great addition and the bartender Yessi was AMAZING! Super friendly and knew exactly how to make the drinks perfectly. The spa worker Nelson was also super sweet and we were taken care of perfectly! Definitely would come back!

Beautiful beach. For the cost of 2080 for 2 people it is worth every dime. Do your homework on how to speak Spanish or bring your Google translating app. Food is good and fresh. Beds are comfortable. Alcohol is reasonably good. It is worth upgrading to premium for the bar on the beach or you are waiting 45 minutes at the buffet bar. Hotel staff is friendly if you treat them with respect. Mexican Italian and steakhouse all good. We haven't tried oriental or seafood. The entertainment team is great and they keep you going. Rosaura, from entertainment team was spectacular, very friendly and welcoming. Ask for her when you go.We will be back. Don't go to occidental club presentation unless you're really interested.

Booked this trip as a birthday surprise gift and did not regret it at all. We did the Royal Level and from arriving at the hotel that’s the experience we arrived to the moment we left, everything was great not to mention every staff member was friendly, and helpful. On arrival we were shuttled from the lobby to our private section of the hotel for check-in and briefing then showed to our amazing suite. The room was clean and just amazing, with a lovely view and wonderful amenities, which was cleaned and stocked daily. The resort itself was beautiful and so much fun, there was nothing that was needed that was not available. They had a buffet, several restaurants, snack bars and bars that had great food and drinks, the food was great quality, and the portions were really good. Most restaurants were open for lunch but required a reservation for dinner and we were lucky to try all but one restaurant during our trip. The employees at each area of the resort were super welcoming, friendly and helpful. I have to give a shout out to the manager of the Royal Level Luis and the hotels Guest Service Manager Betania they both made our trip so comfortable and enjoyable. This was by far my best vacation and would definitely visit again.

Honest Review is that, the food is okay, the customer service is also okay…. but the entertainment is quite amazing. that recreation team ensures that there is always something to do regardless of weather age or language. I would considered coming back solely based on that! the foam party was the highlight of my trip. They are carrying the resort on their back

My family and I were there for 3 days and 2 night at the royal level rooms. The services was amazing. They were friendly and very attentive, specially Julian. Anything we needed no matter the time he was there. The food was good. We had our restaurant separate from the rest of the hotel but still were able to enjoy the whole hotel. I will recommend this hotel definitely will be coming back.

Avoid buildings 15 & 16 (on the edge of the resort) as there is a service road behind them that connects the facilities. Noise from service vehicles, workers and trolleys starts as early as 6. Friendly and pleasant service surpasses this inconvenience however.

[This is a real review, not auto-generated like many of them I believe are here] Non-VIP, Superior Deluxe, 2 adults Overall, I think this is a 3* hotel, not really 5*. Our stay has been pleasant as we did not look for luxury, but there are a couple of things worth calling out: Positives: [++] The resort is big with many cool amenities (multiple restaurants / snack bar / buffet). You won't be bored even if you don't leave the hotel at all. [++] Buffet food is solid, with lots of options and good quality. There's also the option to book the Japanese / Mexican / Brazilian restaurant for dinner. [++] The superior deluxe room is spacious and clean, although it could benefit from renovation. Areas of improvement: [--] Some staff will try tricking you to sign up for a free VIP breakfast, but it's a scam to attend a 1hr presentation about travel deals. We declined it, and they kept insisting. Bad customer experience. Save yourself some time and don't fall for this. [--] The beach is a bit rocky, so either stick to the pool or bring swimming shoes. The pool is really good. [--] At check-in, we were told that we had to pay for a safe. I think it's better to include this in the price than announce it as a surprise.

Now its "sunscape dominicus la romana" ( Hyatt group). Nice hotel ( still renovating after the brand Change. Terrible service/Staff. Slow, incompetent, Many Times nowhere to be seen, namely in pool, terrible free towel policy, making people reserve lots of sunbeds in pool and beach ( and dont use it) Making very very hard to find a free sunbed. Hyatt people: get your stuff together, fast, else this Will be a flop. For the time, the worst 5 start hotel experience in DR ( been in dominican republic Many Times)
