Customer service is alive and well here and the Excellence has it down! My wife and I just had our honeymoon there and couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. Food was great, and the room was so fantastic that we may even model our new bathroom after this one! But the service was amazing. The staff was so very accommodating and would go out of their way to make sure everyone was having the best experience! Shout outs are warranted to Isabelle at breakfast, a trainee who felt like an old friend by the end of our stay! From Freddy who first took our bags to Maria at the lobster house or Carlos at the french place, they could not have provided a better guest experience and made us feel special the whole week. Well worth the money and we dont even drink! Thank you Excellence Playa Mujeres!

This is such an excellent resort! The staff is amazing and takes every little detail into account. We saw one worker cleaning rocks! Everything is so clean and the service is above and beyond. This is our second time at this Excellence and we will be returning. The entertainment staff (especially Nathalie and Angel) were very fun and knowledgeable. I really had fun and a good workout with the fitness instructor Tanya.
The staff at the beach were Josue and Rubi, who were so responsive and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and their English was perfect. Thank you all for making us have an amazing vacation!

We’ve had the absolute best time at this resort. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed, and a huge part of that is thanks to Sully, Lucy, and Emiliano. They have been incredibly accommodating, warm, and genuinely hospitable throughout our stay.
Sully and Emiliano on the excellence beach truly went above and beyond — especially with the thoughtful beachside drinks, special surprises, and constant attention to detail. Their kindness, professionalism, and positive energy made every day feel extra special. You can tell how talented they are and how passionate they are about taking amazing care of their guests.
This trip has been unforgettable, and they are a big reason why. We can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I just returned from a stay at Excellence Playa Mujeres. We booked an Excellence Club Suite with a Private Plunge Pool Terrace in Building 7. The room itself was excellent,clean, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The private terrace and plunge pool were a highlight, with a great ocean view.
There were a couple of room-specific drawbacks. We were in 7418 at the end of the building. While we faced the ocean, there was a hallway that extended past the edge of our balcony. Throughout the stay, people regularly used that hallway to take photos, which made it a bit awkward when we were sitting outside. It also made using the jacuzzi difficult since its window faced that hallway directly. I suspect because of the hallway and our location at the end of the building, the evening entertainment music funneled up to our room at full volume each night. If you prefer turning in early, you may want to request a room farther from the Prelude Bar where the live music takes place.
Food: The Excellence Club upgrade is worth it here. We tried several restaurants, and Magna (club-exclusive) was easily the best meal of the trip. The steaks at The Grill were very good, though it’s loud inside. Lobster House was a great lunch spot and the fish tacos were a standout. Chez Isabelle was disappointing; our food was cold and lacked flavor. We ordered room service for breakfast most mornings and it was consistently excellent. We either ate on the balcony or brought it up to the terrace.
Bars were very good. We brought insulated cups, which helped keep drinks cold longer—I’d recommend doing the same. The mangolada was excellent, and the pink gin cocktail at Cielo was also a favorite.
One downside: the hot tubs were not heated, which was disappointing given that temperatures were slightly cooler than typical for that time of year. We weren’t the only guests who noticed.
Service was five-star across the board. Every employee we interacted with was polite, friendly, and helpful without being intrusive. We were looking for a relaxing, low-key getaway and that’s exactly what we got. I would recommend it.
Splurge
I stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres for a solo birthday trip, and it was an amazing experience overall.
I basically lived at the beach every day of my stay, and a huge part of that experience was thanks to the beach concierge team, especially Jesus and Josue. They consistently checked in, helped me get the perfect beach setup every day, and made my birthday feel extra special with their warmth and attention. Their energy and service really stood out and made my stay memorable.
Angel also deserves a special mention, he kept bringing me personalized non-alcoholic drinks and remembered exactly what I liked, which made long, relaxing beach days even better. The spa experience was also a highlight; the hydrotherapy and treatments were incredibly relaxing and the perfect birthday reset.
The resort itself is beautiful, service is strong, and the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing getaway. No place is ever completely perfect, but the staff really goes above and beyond to make guests feel taken care of.
Overall, I had a wonderful birthday trip and would definitely recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres, whether you’re traveling solo or with company.
