Nerja
Nerja is situated just 50km away from Malaga. This former sleepy fishing village, with beaches of soft powdery sand and sparkling clear waters, sits beautifully in an impressive mountain range. Quaint and charming, Nerja holidays are perfect for families and couples who want that fantastic beach and history blend. Sweeping views of the Mediterranean and nearby areas allow that tranquil feeling of being at one with nature. Ancient monuments and buildings add a certain spice to this authentic Spanish holiday where you can sit back, relax and have fun.
The old quarters of the town are so attractive and remain virtually unchanged in their narrow winding streets, terraces and white washed houses. Flowering tubs grace the front doors and balconies along the way and bathed in wonderful sunshine, creates a sense of timelessness. The locals are warm and friendly and the charm is so alluring. So with high class beaches, pretty streets and a history soaked background, Nerja holidays are perfect for relaxing breaks for families and couples of all ages.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. Paid extra for a sea view room and loved it! Buffet pretty descent. Staff friendly. If you don't have the full all inclusive, at dinner, there are no free drinks included, not even water, so take your own with you if you don't want to be charged. Massage at the spa was very basic and definitely not worth the money. Spa hottub & hot stones were cold so only ended up going once. Beds are acceptable but not pillow top comfort. Resort is getting dated but clean and good value. The 20 min walk into town was perfect for us!

Right on the beach! Well maintained, and friendly staff. Easy walk into town down the beach to the boardwalk.
We stayed during the winter holidays and had such a great time we came back again for another week in February. 2 bedroom apartments are a good size with kitchenettes: small refrigerator, microwave, and two burner stovetop.
We didn't cook much, just sometimes at lunch, as both stays we had breakfast and dinner included (half board). Breakfast and dinner are excellent. Lots of choices. Breakfast menu is fairly standard with small day to day changes, while dinner menu the mains change every day with great choices, including great selections for kids. My daughter is grown but doesn't like spices and she always had lots to choose from.
At breakfast, there are usually some type of digestive water, like mint and lemon or rosemary cinnamon, as well as on some days juice smoothies. As well as juice and coffee from the machines.
At dinner, many choices for the mains as well as full salad bar, breads, cheeses, cold cuts, and deserts. So half board is definitely worth it.
We didn't do all inclusive which adds lunch and drinks throughout the day. Lunch looked excellent though, and lots of drink choices are available. Since we didn't do all inclusive, we just purchased a large water at dinner and shared it between the 3 of us.
The hotel is kept clean and housekeeping staff come every day. The pool and beach are all well kept, but storms and such come through in the winter, making it hard to keep up with.
It's a nice walk down the beach path to the boardwalk in town. You can walk all the way to the Balcon de Europa. That's about 7000 steps round trip from the room.
Overall we really enjoyed our stays and highly recommend.
One small comment: the incline from outside by the pool into the lower level gets slippery when it rains. Needs resurfacing with slip resistant surface. My daughter fell twice, and she was wearing high traction sneakers.

Rooms are adequate with most things you need. Shower over bath a bit outdated now and a struggle for me and hubby to get in and out for shower due to mobility issues. Also quite away from Nerja centre but again if you are fit it is no problem at all and is a lovely walk. There is a bus just outside hotel which takes you in and it's only 1€ each way so no problem. Food plentiful and lots of choices. The meats were really good. Chicken and pork especially. Pool looked lovely but it was Christmas when we went so too cold for most people to go in. Lounge nice for a drink during day and evening. Entertainment was available but we never went so unable to comment on that. We were All Inclusive and the drinks had sufficient choices from 10am till late.

Rooms are nice. Very spacious. We had a second floor room with pool and sea view.
Big balcony.
Location is out of town but it's a lovely walk along the sea front or you can catch a bus which is only 1 euro. Taxis cost 8 euros.
Reception staff were not friendly on check-in which did not give a good impression.
Food is too be desired. It wasn't to our taste at all. It was bland cold tough stale and unacceptable. Service was fine especially as staff were busy.
Drinks were ok...staff busy.
Nerja is a beautiful place to visit

It's a solid 8 out of 10. The hotel is very decent for the price. Rooms are spacious and clean. The rooftop pool is nice, although not heated, so quite cold outside of the summer.
The breakfast buffet is decent, nothing too special but good quality of food and quite a wide selection.

I expected a higher level of service from a four-star hotel. When I ordered a lemonade, I was served a bottled Sprite without clarification. That in itself is not a major issue — what was disappointing was the complete lack of interest when I politely tried to explain the misunderstanding.
Attention to detail and responsiveness to guest feedback are what distinguish good hotels from average ones. Unfortunately, this small interaction suggested a lack of both.
Not a disaster, but not the standard I associate with this category of hotel.

Beachfront location (playa chucho), sea view rooms are really worth it, sunsets are beautiful! The staff is welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is OK, a bit too much oriented towards visitors from the UK though. A disappointment for me was a smell in the bathroom, this really needs attention. Otherwise the rooms are clean and comfortable

Nice hotel although found it too far out from Old Town, but great if you just want a beach break. We paid extra for a Seaview, which we got, but not impressed with room and bathroom, room big enough but not much storage, only one drawer and hanging rail. No drawers in side tables and a cheap table by the TV with kettle, cups and very limited tea/coffee sachets (need to bring your own milk). Bathroom was old and needed work, shelf falling off wall, broken ceiling panels and mould around shower inside and out! Sent email to hotel about disappointment but still no reply nearly a week later. Would I stay again, No.

10/10 for a 3*+/4*
Fantastic location, rooms super clean and very spacious with a modern bathroom.
All the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
The new rooftop pool for 2025 is the best selling point, beautiful views and comfy sunbeds.
Breakfast is good, lots of options.
Value for money, this place is excellent.

Things to do on Nerja holidays
At the heart of Nerja is the astounding Balcon de Europa which is a magnificent promenade along the edge of a towering cliff and formerly the site of a grand Moorish castle. Once there, spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding area captivate you and make for memorable photographs. At lower level, Nerja is fantastic for its small coves and beaches against a backdrop of mountains awash with wildlife. Plenty of watersport activities are found here to help you while away the hours basking in the sun’s rays, so you can do as much or as little as you like on your Nerja holiday. Restaurants, bars and café’s are perfect for that Spanish cuisine accompanied by fine wine along with the everyday typical Brit dishes loved by all.
The history of Nerja is evident in its many wonderful monuments and architecture. Take the 17th century ‘Church of El Salvador’ for example. This fine display is a mix of baroque and Moorish and easily attracts throngs of tourists. Then again, why not visit the stunning gardens of Capistrano Playa that descend to Burriana Beach. Or for a real flavour of natural and unspoilt views head to the magnificent caves close to the town centre. Here, archaeological delights such as paintings and many more items are housed dating back to pre-historic times. All in all, Nerja holidays provide a fascinating wealth of things to see and do so come and discover this enchanting resort.
