Are Morocco Family Holidays Expensive?

Embarking on a family holiday to Morocco promises a whirlwind of adventures and delights, with options to suit every budget. This mystical country offers great value for money in accommodation and activities, as well as being an affordable flight that takes just under 4 hours from the UK. If you are trying to keep the budget low whilst travelling, consider avoiding the summer holidays and keep your eyes peeled for flight deals and hotel offers over the Christmas period or during Ramadan. Visiting one of the lesser known destinations, such as Fez or Tangier, can make accommodation prices more budget-friendly. With plenty of free excursions and walking tours, along with the local cuisine consisting of fresh and cheap staples like couscous and vegetables, your holiday spends should be manageable.

What Are The Best Family-Friendly Resorts?

When it comes to family-friendly resorts in Morocco, you will be delightfully surprised by a kaleidoscope of fun and adventure. If you’re dreaming of sandy toes and salty air, Agadir is a perfect ‘fly and flop’ beach resort, with plenty of water sports to keep the whole family entertained. For a more cultural break, transport yourself to Marrakech, where vibrant streets filled with exotic sights, sounds, and smells await for all ages. Adrenaline junkies keen on surfing and quad biking should head to Essaouira, a windy beach town with a plethora of picture-perfect spots. The captivating cities of Fez, Tangier, Rabat, and Casablanca, each offering their own unique blend of history and excitement, are also fabulous choices for a family holiday in Morocco.

Can We Go All-Inclusive?

Absolutely! Whether you are looking for Bed and Breakfast in Marrakech to explore the city all day, or decide you want a hassle-free all-inclusive experience, when you visit Morocco, there are board basis options that suit every need. If bottomless drinks and all-day dining sounds like your cup of tea, consider a wholly all-inclusive property and know your costs are covered beforehand. Often, a range of activities, entertainment, and extra facilities will be included in the upfront cost at these 3-, 4-, and 5-star hotels. Some all-inclusive resorts in Marrakech include Valeria Premium Dar Atlas Resort, Labranda Targa Club Aqua Parc, or Kenzi Club Agdal Medina. For a usually more affordable trip with slightly cooler temperatures, the popular beach resort of Agadir boasts all-inclusive accommodation options, such as Iberostar Founty Beach or Caribbean Village Agador.

What Do We Need To Take?

Especially if you have decided to visit during the hot summer months, all of the usual holiday essentials (suncream, sun hat, swimwear, etc.) should be taken with you, whether you are embarking on a beach break or city getaway. Unlike in some Muslim countries, it is not mandatory to cover your skin or hair as a woman in Morocco, but it is considered respectful to cover up in some public places, and definitely in religious settings, so a long skirt and light shaul are worth packing. Insect repellent shouldn’t go amiss to prevent mosquito bites, along with any other usual medicines and toiletries you may require. You should bring a Type C plug adapter with 2 round pins to use any electrical items and chargers. As it is highly advised not to drink the tap water in Morocco, perhaps buying a filtration bottle could be a positive environmental option.

How Long Should We Stay?

When planning a family holiday to Morocco, there are boundless possibilities depending on your time scale and financial restraints. If you’re yearning for a quick escape from the winter blues, the radiant sunshine and epic escapades of Marrakech are perfect for a weekend city break. However, in a land adorned with this many historic museums, colourful galleries, maze-like medinas, and sensational natural landscapes, you won’t be able to get enough of this country! The abundance of activities and attractions beckons to extend your stay, ideal for an extended city-hopping expedition. Equally, with tons of well-equipped hotels, endless sunshine, and glorious beaches, Morocco’s family-friendly resorts are so idyllic you won’t want to leave. In short, the answer is that Morocco affords you the freedom to craft your holiday duration to your liking - you’ll never run out of exciting things to do!

Best time to visit

If you are planning a family holiday in Morocco, get ready for a whirlwind of excitement with every season bringing its own charm. Generally, spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) are considered ideal times to visit due to the pleasant temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C, fitting in nicely with kids’ Easter school holidays or May and October half term breaks. However, if you’re keen on catching the best tan possible or travelling for a longer period of time, the summer holidays over July and August are a fabulous period to visit. During summer, temperatures in Marrakech and the Sahara can reach up to 40°C, while coastal towns such as Agadir and Tangier still enjoy high temperatures in the high 20s to 30°C, but are perhaps more manageable when travelling with younger children. During winter, Morocco still enjoys plenty of sunshine and avoids the cold temperatures of the UK, making it a pleasant escape over the chilly Christmas season.
