We had a nice stay at Viator Village overall. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful – we arrived late on the first night, and they kindly kept food and snacks aside for us, which we really appreciated. The place was relatively clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere was relaxed.
The only downside was our experience with one of the bar staff members. We asked if we could sit at one of the empty tables by the windows during dinner (our stay included dinner), but the bartender told us those tables were for “bar only” guests. Unfortunately, no one sat at those tables for the entire evening, so it would have been nice if there was a little more flexibility instead of such a firm “no.”
Aside from that, it was a positive experience, and we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for 9 nights and it was a lovely stay. All the staff were friendly and super helpful, 3 separate pools and plenty of sunbeds, hotel also has a mini mart which is super convenient!
Myself and my boyfriend are both vegetarian and unfortunately there were not many options for us on the dinner menu. Would also love to see a meat substitute at breakfast, such as vegan sausages. The beds were also quite firm which is the only slight negative we could say about the rooms.

Stayed here the last week in August. Brilliant place!
We'll start with the Cons first.
1- Previous reviews have mentioned the beds, they're not the most comfortable and a softer mattress and better pillows would have been preferred but they not horrendous.
2- Says self catering but there's no oven and the microwaves are old and not up to the task. Bit sparce on equipment for cooking as well. That said you're probably going to eat out anyway.
Now for the Pros!
1- The grounds and the pools are lovely, well kept and clean! Top pool (big one) is where all the kids play and the bottom pool is usually quiet and no kids if you want to be out of the way.
2- The restaurant. Other reviews have said it wasn't that good but we are there twice once for lunch and once for dinner, both meals were well sized for the money, well cooked and presented and service was quick. Would recommend the steak and piri piri chicken.
3- Breakfast, we decided to pay the extra to have breakfast included. Served 8-10.30 if you're wondering. There's was plenty of choice and it was all cooked well.
4- Rooms, cleaned daily. The odd fresh towel during the week, they replace toilet rolls so you don't have to buy them and they'll empty your bin. Rooms are kept clean. Big thank you to the cleaners! Was great having a nice fresh room to come back to. Also ironing board, iron (decent size not a tiny travel one) and a decent hair dryer are supplied so you don't have to take yours.
5- Location. It's a bit hilly to walk to and from the hotel but it's not too bad. We had a car so we could always drive to the free car park about 2 minutes away in Ferragudo but the walk is alright. The beaches in the estuary are perfect if you have kids as the waves/tide is really gentle due to the break waters at the harbour front and they're really clean.
All in apart from the beds mainly this is a great place to stay and explore the area from.
All the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Service is excellent. Would visit again.
Places to visit if you're there.
Portimao harbour on a night especially with kids.
The beaches in the estuary.
Ferragudo is lovely with plenty of restaurants and shops.
Zoomarine is a must with kids (gets busy though in school holidays)
Alte, and area with a natural spring, waterfall pool you can swim in and a canal like structure at the top to swim in.
Sand city, the sculptures are pretty cool. Chilled out place to have a walk and some park bits for the kids to play on. Suggest the evening when it's cooler.

We booked this hotel with a package deal with Tui. We did see a lot of positive reviews before we booked but we experienced this hotel different.
Pro’s:
- Well located if you have a car!! There are many beautiful beaches and restaurants within 15 min drive
- Ferragudo on walking distance with nice restaurants and bars
Con’s:
- The rooms are very simple with uncomfortable furniture and very hard beds!
- the apartments are very noisy, we heard the neighbors talking and a baby crying in the mornings
- no towelservice and you need to buy a towel in the minimarket. Bring your own towel!
- we ordered a burger in the restaurant and this was overcooked. We got a new one which was almost undercooked and had no flavor.
- No music or any activities at the hotel by day
Overall we had a great holiday in the Algarve, the people are friendly and the food in very tasteful. We would come back but we will choose a more comfortable hotel next time. But if you choose Vitors Village make sure you rent a car to explore the Algarve.

I recently stayed at Vitor’s Village for a festival happening nearby.
Pros:
The location is fantastic—peaceful yet walkable to town, which made exploring Ferragudo easy and enjoyable. The pool area is beautiful and well-kept, a perfect place to relax. Breakfast was also a highlight, with a solid variety and fresh options to start the day.
Cons:
That said, there are several policies that just don’t make sense and detract from the overall guest experience. For example, there are no pool towels provided—you have to buy them, which feels unnecessarily inconvenient for guests. Similarly, there’s no complimentary coffee or tea in the rooms; instead, you’re expected to purchase pods. These may seem like small things, but they really add up. As someone who works in hospitality, I can say that simply charging a bit more per night and including these basics would go a long way in elevating the overall experience.
Another frustrating issue was the requirement to pay the room deposit in cash, which meant we had to walk into town to find an ATM after a long travel day. I’ve never stayed anywhere that doesn’t take a card hold for a deposit—it’s just not efficient.
Also, aside from breakfast, the food on-site was underwhelming, so I’d recommend exploring local restaurants for lunch and dinner instead.
There’s a lot of potential here, and with a few guest-friendly changes, Vitor’s Village could offer a much more seamless and enjoyable stay.
