Our first impressions of the Vila Galé hotel were that the reception area and lounge were very dated and in need of a refurb. The floor tiles were comprised of alternating orange and black-streaked white marble effect squares, and the furniture was a mix of dated chairs and tables and black sofas.
The receptionist was very friendly and gave us an early check in. We never had to wait too long for either of the two lifts. Both had the unusual habit of bumping twice before opening.
The upstairs carpets really did need to be ripped out and replaced, as they were very old and well trodden.
Our junior suite was really spacious and consisted of two separate bedrooms; one with two single beds and the other with one large double. The configuration of the bathroom was rather odd, with the door opening no more than about 50 degrees before hitting a stopper that prevented it from slamming into the toilet.
Two issues in the room that did surprise us were firstly, the lack of any coffee making facilities and secondly, the small complimentary bottle of water that wasn't replenished on subsequent days.
We asked at reception for a kettle etc. and one duly arrived in our room a few hours later, along with coffee, tea and a couple of single cup-size milks. As was the case with the water, the coffee and milk were not replenished after the first day.
Rather irritatingly, the two TVs in our rooms turned on everytime we returned and inserted our room key into the power switch, meaning that we were constantly turning them off.
On the plus side, the large double bed was very comfortable, and the two airconditioning units worked really well. Another big plus was the large balcony that faced the marina and we were able to watch a couple of really nice sunsets.
The breakfast area was quite sizeable and open for more than 4 hours, so we didn't have to queue to get in. There was a wide choice of fruits, yoghurts, juices, cheeses, meats, bacon, mushrooms etc. and the egg station was manned by a very capable chef who made very nice omelettes and other egg dishes.
While the hotel wasn't actually located on the marina front, it was only a couple of minutes away on foot and we could see some of it from our room, partly obstructed by various buildings between the hotel and the waters edge.
Apart from some of the niggles mentioned above, overall we were happy with our stay, and the hotel is well positioned in terms of the restaurants, bars and shops. It was certainly a hit with the golfers who comprised most of the hotel's customers when we visited in October.

It’s okay… depends what you’re looking for.
If you want a reasonably priced hotel, somewhere to sleep with a pool and a bar you’re sorted. If you’re looking for a modern, spacious, quiet and peaceful experience look elsewhere.
The hotel still looks as it was when built in the package holiday era of the 90’s. Everything is cream, wooden doors that are starting to fray, bathroom that getting tired.
Breakfast is average, decent selection but you can taste it’s not the best quality stuff.
Pool is a pool, not massive, plenty of sun loungers, the odd selfish reserving towels. Loud music from 9:30-18:00 ish.
Can hear most of the road noise from the rooms, not well insulated.
As I said, depends what you want. We just used it as a base to attend a local wedding so it did the job without many frills.

This is a nice hotel. The place is generally busy. Nice gym and pools one indoor which is great. Staff are helpful but had an issue with room service. Breakfast was just okay. Rooms are average, I did ask for a double bed but didn't get it.

Stayed here a few nights and it was very comfortable and easy to navigate. Staff were super nice too. My only complaints were that they blast music all day, so don't plan on napping, and that the entrance is a little dangerous feeling at night. it's basically an alley on either side of the hotel to walk to the entrance from the Marina. I'm sure they're trying to minimize the foot traffic from the marina bars and clubs, but it felt a little sketchy to walk on foot into the building after dark (and the only alternative is a dark park to walk through instead). I'd love to enter the hotel on a real sidewalk and not just a dark alley. Otherwise, was a great stay. I'd stay here again, if I found a great deal.

Very dated facilities, with big rooms and nice view but there was terrible smell coming from bathroom all the time. Also you have to wait forever for room to be cleaned, basically till 5pm. No option for late check out so had to stay in reception area for 5 hours. Most of the staff is incredibly rude, especially the guy from the reception. We had been given room on the 8th floor, however during our 7 night stay elevator was out of order several times.Location is good, very close to the Marina, but if you desire good night sleep it is impossible as it is extremely loud all day- all night. Definitely will not stay again!!!
