We had such a great stay at the Westin Dragonara! From the moment we arrived, everyone was super welcoming and kind. They even gave us an upgrade, which honestly made our day — the room was huge, super clean, and the bed was so comfortable. Waking up to that sea view every morning was just perfect.
Breakfast was one of the highlights — so much choice, everything fresh and tasty, and the staff were always smiling and ready to help. The whole place feels calm and relaxed, even though it’s close to everything in St. Julian’s.
We spent a lot of time just enjoying the view and the pools, and it really felt like a proper getaway. Overall, an amazing experience — we left feeling so rested and happy. Would 100% come back again!

This was our first stay at the Westin Dragonara in Malta and there is much to like about it. But a couple of things diminished our enjoyment and I am well aware that these are mainly personal taste issues rather than major problems with the hotel.
Let's talk about the good stuff first;
The rooms are lovely, they are a good size, spotlessly clean, regularly serviced and quiet.
Service was uniformally very good. From the reception, to the restaurants, to the pool attendants, to housekeeping and the Club staff, everyone was lovely.
The food standard was good. We ate in Palios, the Lounge/terrace bar, the buffet restaurant and the pool bar and the food was very good everywhere.
Drinks were reasonably priced and bar service/cocktails was excellent.
The main pool is a really good size and it's well heated, so swimming is a pleasure, even in very windy early October.
So what wasn't great?
Mostly it's about position.
The hotel is situated on a rock promontory with most of the rooms having a sea view of some sort. But the sun rises almost behind the hotel and then moves around behind the hotel during the day. So if you enjoy lazing on a sunbed, and there are plenty to choose from, you end up looking at the hotel rather than out to sea. Which is a bit sad. There are places where you can avoid this, but the main area suffers from this and you loose the sun quite early in the evening in Oct.
Secondly, the area immediately in front of the hotel's exit is Paceville and that's not as nice as some areas. It's not too far to walk to the nicer parts, but it's not visually as pleasing as we'd have liked.
It didn't help that for 3 of the first 4 days there was problems with the water supply, either no hot water or no water at all. The management were very good about the problem, but it wasn't ideal
Finally, there were a lot of conferences on during our stay. I appreciate that this is good business for the hotel, but we are retired and when we go on holiday, we don't enjoy being in a hotel with loads of people on a conference/work jolly. It's not that anyone was badly behaved, it's more about the way it affects the ambience/vibe.
So this is a very nice hotel, with lovely staff, good food and accomodation, but for us, the location and the commercial users let it down a bit.

Booked tickets last minute going to Malta, next was the hotel to book as the our airline was going to land late at night. We found The Westin Dragonara Resort as we were looking for sea view and needed to relax and enjoy. The reviews we read were very positive and so booked it!
When we got to the hotel it was already 1.30 am. The hotel staff were amazing and friendly. We checked in and headed to our room, and wow!! The room was lovely, beds were super comfy, the view from our room was awesome!
Booked for 3 nights and had a brilliant time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view. Restaurants and bars are walking distances from the hotel. Breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked omelette etc....waffles and pancakes and
had a excellent selection of yummy sweet desserts, fruits, cheese and fresh bread!
All the staff were friendly, and happy to help. We had amazing time at the hotel. Thank you for your great service! 👌😊

A Breakfast Worth Waking Up For – A Shining Star at The Westin Dragonara
Having stayed at The Westin Dragonara several times, I can confidently say that the breakfast experience here deserves special praise — and much of that is thanks to Fabio, the man behind this exceptional morning ritual.
This is not your average hotel breakfast. From the moment you enter, you're welcomed not just with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality products, but with warmth and genuine care from the entire team. The selection is outstanding — everything is carefully chosen and beautifully presented. Whether it’s the breads, fruits, hot dishes, or local specialties, every bite speaks of quality and attention to detail.
What truly elevates the experience, though, is the staff. Simply adorable, attentive, and always eager to make sure every guest feels valued. It’s this spirit of hospitality that transforms a meal into a joyful experience.
Chapeau to Fabio and all the team — your passion and dedication do not go unnoticed. Keep up the excellent work. You’ve set a benchmark that’s hard to beat!

Really was a nice hotel, This is our second visit as we liked it so much the first time. We visited with our 2 teenagers, so this is a great hotel for families. The gym is very good and has everything you need. The
outdoor pool is a bit noisy, really geared towards families in the summer season. The rooms are spacious and renovated, Everything was good, just we had a weird smell everyday in our room.
I recommend the hotel for all round family fun at a good price for value for money.
