Great all inclusive family hotel away from the noisy main strip nestled next to some fields. But a short walk to the beach and the old town for some shopping. 2 fantastic pools , always sunbeds and parasols very clean everywhere. Great food and drink different stuff for the fussy and adventurous. You can eat all day if you want as food is always available. Unlimited quality ice cream for the little ones. Restaurant staff constantly cleaning your plates and tables and bar staff very quick and all are very friendly. Great Greek nights and managers love to get involved. Rooms were spotless and cleaned daily with air con in the bedroom and lounge. Will definitely use it as a base if visiting Crete again. We could not fault this place. Everything you need when on holiday to relax

Have just spent 9 days at the Solimar Ruby with a couple of friends and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Malia! We were a little put off initially by some of the poorer reviews however the good ones far outweighed the bad and for very good reason. The hotel was immaculate, housekeeping were in everyday to clean the room and provided fresh bottled water. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, in particular the bar staff at the pool bar were excellent! There was a few days where it was a little on the noisy side with people heading out to the strip but it certainly wasn't enough to disturb us and to be fair was kind of expected staying in a hotel so close to the strip - it's about a 15 minute walk. There are 2 pools at the hotel but just to be aware that one of the pools is reserved for the upgraded/premium rooms, if you can I'd recommend the upgrade! We definitely felt it worth it, the second pool just has a more chilled out vibe. We had a really late and very delayed flight in and arrived to the hotel to find 3 plates if sandwiches and cakes made up in the mini fridge as well as bottled water, such a great touch especially after travelling for so long and thinking we were stuck till breakfast. Really handy location for going out on the strip and only a 15 minute walk to the beach.

I do not recommend this hotel! The doors must be slammed shut! It's a huge noise! Internet costs 12 euros per room. The TV has 6 TV channels that work very badly! Water must be bought from the store and it's all inclusive! It's 2 stars, not 4! The beach is a 20-25 min walk away, it's not close and it's expensive, etc. In such heat you need a taxi! Better is a hotel close to the beach and with a private beach! There are no mosquito nets! They are everywhere and in the room.

Absolutely loved this place. On arrival, we found out we were the 1st guests this year, so basically we had the full hotel and staff for 4 people. The hotel still provided full all-inclusive, and it was amazing. The staff here are so welcoming and friendly they all went that extra mile to make sure you were happy. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough and we are definitely looking forward to coming back

The two star review is mainly due to this hotel being advertised as 4*.
It’s nowhere near the standard of a 4* hotel.
It’s clean but that’s as good as it gets.
I am not a fussy eater, but the choices are really bad. 3-4 evenings in a 7 day holiday there was literally nothing that I wanted.
The food was always luke warm, never hot even if you arrived for food as the restaurant opened.
My girlfriend tripped up a step from the restaurant and had a nasty cut to her foot which required stitches the following morning, when I asked the staff on reception for a first aid kit I was given some cotton wool and some betadine, they were also quite unhelpful.
This place should be nothing more than a B&B unless you’re happy eating tasteless food that isn’t even hot.
My tip would be to book somewhere else and just go Bed and Breakfast because the restaurants in the old town are far better than eating at the hotel.
