Spent the weekend here as a solo traveller (May 2026), and was welcomed and checked in by the the fabulous Sandra, or, Mi Chica Loca as I called her - she was brilliant.
The room was simple, clean, large, loads of airflow from the balcony sliding doors and the bathroom was wonderful.
The place was quiet, calm and the food that you can get from the pool side bar was tasty, especially with an ice cold glass of San Miguel to enjoy it with. Had a dip in the quiet pool, and it was lush.
Love the location (only a 2 min slow walk to the shopping centre and beach area) and right next to the airport (even better if you love plane spotting, like I do!). For me, this place is a bit of a hidden, understated gem. The beaches nearby (Honda, Matagorda, Guacimeta) are incredible.
I booked via Lastminute.com but you'll find these on most booking sites for a fantastic price no doubt.

Solo traveller.
Another one of those places that I feel people turn up to expecting something it isn't and leave a scathing review for no reason. San Marcial is lovely, a quiet apartment area that has a decent pool, a good on site bar and supermarket that has everything you need. The apartment was a good size, had a fridge and loads of cultlery for my use and the bathroom was also clean on my arrival too. All the staff in the reception, bar, supermarket and cleaners were all nice and very welcoming and helpful and the guests staying there when I did seemed a great bunch too which I feel like would be the norm. Ideally located for anything in Matagorda like the beach and restaurants.
If I had to leave any critism it'd be my bed was quite creeky but it was comfortable none the less.
A great stay and i'd definitely take the good words said about the place over the bad and lower star ratings on travel sites when making your booking, it wouldn't have so many returnees in the reviews if it wasn't good.
Thank you!

All staff very friendly and helpful, we were allowed to check in a a bit earlier. The swimming pool really well developed. Location of the apartments close to the beach but a bit far away from the center of Puerto del Carmen. The bar was great- we had food/drinks there every day and enjoyed everything we tried- staff great again. Plus we had 2 welcome cocktails for free.
A bit outdated apartment-in need for refurbishment, the terrace very dirty do not think it has been cleaned at all. The wifi connection was bad and totally missing in the bedroom. No shower gel/shampoo left in the bathroom. There is a constant noise of airplanes due to its location close to the airport.

Rooms were oke for the price, the bed is very uncomfortable and hard me and gf got bad back pains from sleeping on them, the couch is also dated and not that comfortable. One night while outside we heard that the room next to us had cockroaches and two days later I found 5 cockroaches in our apartment which is very unpleasant to see.
Staff is very helpful and quick when it comes to ordering taxis and giving advice.
Good location everything from shops, restaurants and the beach is within 5-10min walking depending how fast you walk.
Pool is decent size and perfect to cook off on hot days if it’s cloudy then it might be a challenge for most since it will be very cold.
Overall just need better beds and mattresses and look into the cockroach situation.

Pretty cold indoors and a bit damp in areas. The windows didn't fit or shut that well. Very little hot water (only managed one hot shower all week) No water at all for most of our last two days (we got containers of water from the pool to flush the toilet) There was no maid service at all so the room never got cleaned, (only in-between guest occupancies) the beds were never made or changed, the towels were never replaced, toilet rolls were never replenishedand, and there was no soap.
Internet only available in reception, nowhere else
