Bad points:
No hot water for showers (daily problem) power cable for fridge in room was dangerously extended as the original cable length was too short to reach the plug socket. Bathroom flooded. Breakfast fell well below par for similarly priced hotels on the island. Balcony seats are very, very uncomfortable to sit on.
Chap on reception could hardly speak any English which came as a surprise for such a hotel.
Bathroom towels were a bit tatty and have seen better days.
Good points:
Beautiful location. Grounds and rooms were kept clean. Staff were polite. Cocktails were enjoyed
I think the hotel is charging us for a 4 star hotel but they are only spending 2 star budget.

Me x my wife recently stayed at the royal bay
We found the staff very friendly and could not do enough for you room was spotless. And lovely location .had no trouble with sunbeds around the pool. Although the beach beds could do with a update. Breakfast was a bit repeated x colud do with been a bit hotter.

Great view, nice and always smiling staff. The hotel is quiet, nice pool and bar next to it. Breakfast is better than previous years, everyone finds something for themselves.
Rooms are big and always clean and the rooms with a sea view are fantastic.
Pool/Snocker table and TVs at a reception are great addition to pass the time.
The hotel is couple of meters away from the beach.

The location is perfect as the building is facing the sea.
There are few free sunbeds to use on the beach. Unfortunately several of them are broken and need repairing.
For the price point and the category of the hotel, these are the things that need to be improved:
- towels are changed only every 2 days and this is ok as a hotel policy. However, all of them - especially if used - should be changed and not only few
- they give the showergel only at the beginning of the stay and don't promptly give more once it is (almost) over
- breakfast starts at 8 but it's not until 8:30 that all food is brought to the buffet
- no gluten free or lactose free choices for breakfast
- the breakfast tables are left for long time with used dishes. If someone wants to sit outside, usually has to clean the table themselves
- the common areas like breakfast room and bar are not air conditioned
- the menu for drinks shows given prices but later a higher price is charged because "the menu is old"
- the bathroom has a glass door that gives zero privacy
- no bottles of water available in the room. Water bottles should be a basic service and it should not be the case that guests have to pay for it usually 3x the real price or have to go and buy it themselves
As also said in other reviews, the towels are old and with holes and the breakfast is very basic. I could live with this even in a 4* if the rest of the service was OK but it's unfortunately not the case.

We stayed at Royal Bay, and unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. If you’re considering booking — trust the negative reviews online. We absolutely would not recommend going there.
Positives:
• 1 star for cleanliness — the room was relatively clean.
• 1 star for the location — the hotel is directly on the beach, which is the only real highlight.
Everything else fell far below expectations.
The hotel is outdated, poorly maintained, and has an overall worn-down feel. It does not live up to its claimed star rating in any way.
The breakfast was practically inedible — instant coffee, lowest-quality ingredients, and close to no fresh or appetizing options. We skipped it after the first couple of days.
The beach towels were dirty, some with actual holes — something you’d never expect in any decent hotel.
Even worse, the owners smoked indoors in the lobby every evening, making it impossible to relax in the common areas due to the strong smell.
We raised our concerns with TUI (our travel agency), but they were completely unhelpful and unresponsive. There was no support or resolution offered.
We were so disappointed that we decided to leave early at our own expense, cutting our holiday there short just to get away from the place and relocated.
Overall, this was a frustrating and disheartening experience. We strongly recommend choosing a different hotel — Royal Bay is not worth your time or money.
