It is really one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed. The location is great, just in front of the hotel there is a beach with the black sand.. very beautiful one. Also from our room was a spectacular view of the ocean. The food was also good, there are thematic dinners: Italian, Mediterranean, etc so you can try different options. But the best part is people, who are working there. Everyone from the receptionist to the chef was so nice and polite! I was impressed. My husband was on a special diet and they even prepared deserts specifically for him ❤️ I adore this place and will definitely come back!

A classic that you always want to return to. Being a hotel that shows the era in which it was built, which for me has its charm, the facilities are impeccably maintained. The rooms are still comfortable, the view is fabulous as they all face the sea and the cleanliness is immaculate. The all-inclusive is overall good, honest and in line with the rate charged. The Ocean Bay team is truly a plus. It is because of the welcome and friendliness that we leave wanting to return. From the reception to the restaurant, from the employee to the management, the service is warm and impeccable. We felt at home and at family. Madeira has a special way of welcoming that in this hotel is taken very seriously. Thanks.

Very nice hotel, value for money. Big room with comfortable bed and balcony with a beautiful view. On arrival at midday I was greeted by smiling and helpful ladies from the reception, left my bag at storage room. My room was ready before check in time which was nice. I had nice poncha served by very nice older man at the bar, he looked after me during my stay. Food of good quality, big salad and dessert section but not as big of hot food. Due to small issue with serving planning on the Seafood Day the best quality salad disappeared within half an hour. I mentioned that to restaurant manager and on my last lunch before my flight I received complimentary grilled salmon with chips and salad, very tasty I need to say. I hope to see you in the near future, thanks again for the nice stay to all staff from Pestana Praia Formosa Waldemar

We had a lovely week at this hotel as part of an EasyJet package. The staff are warm & friendly from Receptionists to Waiters to House Keeping. The place was spotless. The food was to my taste, lots of healthy options, fresh produce & handmade cakes! (What's not to like). Nice evening entertainment. Very relaxing. I can't praise this place enough, we were a bit apprehensive due to some negative reviews but don't understand them cos the hotel was busy the entire time. A good spot all round. I recommend them although they might not be 'luxurious' but if you prefer 'calming, relaxing, peaceful with lovely views' then this beats hands down the poshest of posh extravagant hotels in town.

Great place to stay. Food excellent, drinks such as Beer, wines and sangria are plentiful. In the evening its the same you get free sprits, but the house spirits are nit much to write about.The entertainment was 1st class and the shuttle bus into funchal was a game charger.
