I hope this personal review helps others make the right choice when planning a holiday in Portugal.
Our stay at the Pestana Blue Alvor Beach Hotel was truly exceptional. From our 15th-floor balcony, we enjoyed a breathtaking view of the beach and the ocean, which added something special to every morning and evening. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the quality and variety of the food exceeded our expectations.
As a family of eight, we were able to spend meaningful time together, thanks to the excellent facilities and thoughtful organization throughout the hotel. Football games, tennis courts, and the indoor swimming pool provided enjoyable daily activities, while short trips to nearby local towns added charm and authentic Portuguese atmosphere to our holiday. The beaches and coastal walkways were simply beautiful.
What truly made this stay outstanding was the hotel staff. Every member of the team showed professionalism, kindness, and genuine dedication to guest comfort. Their hard work is clearly reflected in the smooth management, high-quality service, engaging entertainment, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. It felt like every detail was handled with care and pride.
There is always room for small improvements, but without hesitation, I can say that we would happily return. Thank you to the entire Pestana Blue Alvor Beach team for creating such a memorable experience — we look forward to coming back, perhaps with even better dance moves and karaoke confidence.

I came and stayed here for a birthday trip,we turned up to the hotel where we were welcomed with lovely staff at reception, we had a couple of issues with our room but they were sorted instantly, our room was beautiful and even in January the sea views are beautiful. The rooms were spotlessly clean. There was food left for us when we arrived as we arrived later in the evening. The bubbles bar has such a lovely atmosphere, with lots of places to chill out at. They have a good verity of drinks, and entertainment. All the entertainers, bar staff, receptionist and those in the food areas went above and beyond to ensure that we had a good stay! The relaxation pool was lovely and relaxing and had a lovely temperature. The food had a decent verity to choose from from 7.30 - 10pm including a snack bar in the middle of the day. My partner and I can't wait to return here again soon In the warmer weather! 😊

We came with a group of my friend's for her 50th birthday. They catered very well with a cake and the decorations were nice and simple. The hotels staff were amazing and friendly, including Teresa and Hugo and the bar staff who were all very attentive and the entertainment was good, albeit very quiet. The whole hotel was spotless however the housekeeping let this down, as we kept having to ask for water and to clean our rooms daily and they would leave cups and plates dirty in the room for many days. Also they are not very sociable. Food was good but we were expecting more portuguese cuisine especially the portuguese tarts but none were available so a bit disappointing. We visited off season so maybe during high season things would be improved? However, the sauna and steam was very good and we pretty much had it all to ourselves during our one week's stay. The swimming pool was not very warm and the rooms neither, especially at this time of the year and we had to speak to maintenance many times to help regulate the room.

Our whole experience was superb from check-in to check-out. The food was gorgeous, the rooms were extremely comfortable even providing lovely little extras as welcome gifts. We have stayed in many hotels over the years and the staff we met were second to none. Bar staff - 5 stars, Restaurant Staff - 5 stars, Animation Staff - 5 stars. Hotel Facilities - 5 stars. A fantastic stay in a great hotel. Our thanks go to everyone who made our stay so good.

We had a great stay at the hotel in January, although there were a few nuances that I’d like to mention below.
Pros:
-Stylish rooms, a stunning ocean view, and everything was very clean.
-The common areas are beautiful, with many aesthetic details.
-The food was delicious — fish and seafood were available at every meal.
-High-quality cocktails made with good spirits.
Cons:
– The spa area is very small.
– The hotel positions itself as a 5-star property, yet there were no slippers or bathrobes in the rooms.
– On one evening, the main restaurant was closed and dinner was served in the à la carte restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was not very good — it felt like there was an attempt to save on ingredients, and starters and desserts were not replenished.
Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. The downsides did not spoil the overall impression, but for some guests these details may be important.
