An Excellent Stay with a Few Caveats
We stayed at Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort for five nights, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. We were a group of six and booked a beachfront family room, which was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The rooms are well-maintained, and the views of the turquoise-green Indian Ocean were truly breathtaking — just as Mauritius is often described: pristine and serene.
The swimming pools are beautifully maintained, and the staff is extremely courteous and welcoming. We had opted for the Modified American Plan (breakfast and dinner), and the quality of food was excellent, especially for those who enjoy multi-cuisine options.
However, there are a few areas where improvements could be made:
• If you are vegetarian and Indian, or not used to an international or multi-cuisine palette, you might find the variety in breakfast and dinner limited. My wife, my friend’s wife, and even my son found it a bit difficult to find suitable options.
• The hotel tends to get overcrowded, and staff appears overworked. For example, during breakfast, once cutlery is placed on tables, it’s rarely replenished for the next guests, and popular food items like croissants, green olives, and fruits aren’t always refilled once exhausted. This made the breakfast buffet feel a bit like a first come, first serve setup.
Despite these minor issues, our overall stay was excellent, and the natural beauty of the location more than made up for the shortcomings. I’d happily give it 5 stars, but I hope the hotel takes note of these points to make the experience even better in the future.
Highly recommended — especially for families and beach lovers!

I recently stayed at the Outrigger Resort in Mauritius, and it truly exceeded all expectations. Spread over more than 1 km of lush greenery, the resort is a tropical paradise filled with coconut trees, soft green lawns, and a peaceful atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease and it features four beautiful swimming pools.
Food lovers will be delighted! The resort has five different restaurants, and our package included breakfast and dinner—both of which were absolutely fantastic.
• Breakfast had everything from cereals, milk, fresh fruits, and chicken sausages to pork salami, along with cappuccino, espresso, hot chocolate, and more.
• Dinner was a global feast—think Indian rice, dal, sabji, alongside Italian pasta in creamy cheese sauce, and a huge spread of fish, meat, and squid.
• The desserts were simply irresistible—the perfect end to every meal.
Our room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with all essentials including a TV, AC, mini-fridge, coffee maker with lots of sachets, an ironing set, and a secure safe. The best part? A sea-facing balcony where we could relax and enjoy the view with a cup of coffee.
Adding to the charm, some evenings featured local music performances at 9 PM, giving us a taste of Mauritian culture under the stars.
In short, Outrigger Resort is a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and nature. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Mauritius.

We had a pleasant stay at Outrigger for 5 nights 6 days. They upgraded us to a beachfront room and the view from the room was spectacular. The pool by the ocean was really nice. The food in the buffet was amazing (not much vegetarian options though). However, the only issue was service which was too slow be it at the restaurant or room. That could be because of the size of the resort and it was a busy season with too many guests. The location is bit far from everywhere but would recommend the resort if you want to just sit in the beach, enjoy a drink and relax.

We had a wonderful stay at the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort, a beautifully located property opened in 2014. The pools are well-maintained and inviting, perfect for a relaxing afternoon under the sun. One of the real highlights is the house reef just offshore—ideal for snorkeling. We spotted boxfish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, trumpetfish, damselfish, and Moorish idols, among other species typical of the lagoon around Mauritius.
The resort offers four restaurants, a fitness center, a spa, and comfortable rooms. While some ongoing maintenance is visible (e.g., new air conditioning units that are not yet perfectly integrated into the façade), it’s clear that the resort is investing in upkeep and long-term quality.
Special mention goes to the Mercado Restaurant, where the service was consistently warm and attentive. Sam, the maître d’, runs the dining room with genuine hospitality and professionalism, creating a welcoming and personal atmosphere that really made our dinners memorable.
All in all, a lovely experience—we would happily return.
