Me and my husband usually travel to Fuengirola 2 to 3 times per year . But was the first time ( and last )we stay at Occidental .
Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the start, it was my husband birthday and I want to do a little surprise for him, so when I made the reservation I requested one of the option they had called stay& love that was supposed to be a bottle of cava and some chocolate-dipped fruit skewers upon arrival .
Then I had sent an email just to confirm if they received my request .
The answer was that they would do what I had requested and plus on my husband birthday they would give a piece of cake to celebrate .
Well despite clearly requesting nothing was done .
I was not asking nothing for free I was very very happy to pay for it .
Next morning when my husband was not with me I went to ask what happened.
The reception person said he had checked and he looked chocked himself.
So he said it was a misunderstood and that was . No a sorry or we will do something about .
I felt so so disappointed .
Very basic hospitality please don’t wage you money in book the deluxe room there is nothing especial . We never stay there again or recommend it to anyone .

Hotel is top notch. We were very looked after and the location is perfect - just across the road from the beach with loads of restaurants around but also more of a residential feel than closer towards Málaga. A couple of great playgrounds nearby if you have kids.

This hotel is beautiful and the staff are first class. It was my 50th and without telling anyone the brought me a cake at breakfast and left a bottle of cava in my room with a lovely message. I would heartily recommend a visit here and it’s perfectly situated next to the beach.

What a lovely hotel. We went with a group of golfers and all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nice breakfast with plenty of options. Nice size rooms, well maintained.

We definitely enjoyed our stay at the Occidental in Fuengirola. We were on the 10th floor which included a great view. The room itself was great too, comfy bed and good toiletries in the bathroom. The air conditioning unfortunately wasn’t strong enough and we don’t even feel like it was turned on for our stay. It was just a bit hard to sleep with the heat. The reception staff were very friendly and professional. The housekeeping lady who cleaned our room was exceptionally lovely, and greeted us every morning. We would have loved to say goodbye but missed her on our last day. We had breakfast included, it was fairly decent. Fresh omelettes which we enjoyed everyday. Breakfast also included mostly British style foods, along with fresh fruit, pastries, a selection of fresh meats, and juices. There was options to sit outside which was very nice. We had food outside in the Breeze Bar. This was also amazing and reasonably priced. The pool area is quite small and there’s definitely not enough sun loungers for the amount of people staying at the hotel. The location is in the more quiet part of Fuengirola but yet within 10 minutes walking distance to all the main pubs and restaurants. The only thing that bothered us was the very slow elevator. Overall a great stay, we will be recommending.
