This was our first visit to Portugal and Tivoli Lagos was recommended to us by friends who had stayed earlier in the year. We spent a week here over the Easter period.
Yes, the decor is in need of some TLC but we loved the character of this unique hotel and everything was of an at least acceptable standard.
The service, food and staff were all excellent. We were on a half-board package and ate in the buffet restaurant for breakfast every day, and 4 or 5 evenings of our stay and were very pleased with the choices available and the quality of the food. The restaurant and bar staff were all so nice and helpful.
We thought the free drink voucher scheme, in exchange for not having the room serviced, was a wonderful idea. More hotels should consider this.
As someone with mobility limitations, I found Tivoli Lagos well located with easy access to the boulevard and the old town, and the marina, bus depot and train station were just a short walk away.
I would happily recommend the hotel to friends and family and look forward to a return visit myself, in the not too distant future!

The hotel was significantly nicer than I expected based on the reviews. It was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. The only qualm was the old wooden boards around the pool that were a tripping hazard. There are also a lot of stairs all around the property, if you need ADA accessibility definitely mention that when you book because not all of the areas are accessible due to stairs. They are super strict on the 3pm check-in. The breakfast buffet was solid but nothing special.

I must admit I was apprehensive about staying in this particular Tivoli hotel due to some poor reviews, however my husband and I had a very nice relaxing stay.
It’s a unique hotel with lots of different blocks and rooms which were apparently added over the years so yes some areas need some maintenance.
We were lucky to have an upgrade to a deluxe room which was two rooms one a bedroom and the other with a sofa bed. The rooms were modern and clean and had plenty of storage space, more than most hotels I’ve stayed at. Large bathroom with a very good shower although it could be improved with more shelf storage for toiletries. The balcony had seen better days with some cracked tiles but it was too cold and windy to sit out ( mid February)
We really like the restaurant for the breakfast buffet which wonderful and we also ate one night in the hotel restaurant which was very nice, good food and wine and not too expensive.
We enjoyed drinks in the relaxing bar area and took advantage of the free drinks voucher, beer or house wine or soft drink if you decline room service that day.
One of the best features of the Tivoli Lagos hotel is its location in the centre of the town. Lots of bars and restaurants in walking distance and a short walk to the marina and bars and restaurants there.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and I would happily stay there again.

We stayed here in March when the resort hotel was still called Tivoli Lagos Algarve Resort, now renamed to NH Lagos Algarve Resort. Overall, we had a very good stay and felt that the hotel offered excellent value for the price we paid.
The resort is a little old in some areas and still needs major upgrades in certain facilities, but you can clearly see that renovations have already started in parts of the property. Our room felt modern, comfortable, and nicely updated, which we really appreciated.
The breakfast was amazing with a lot of choices and many places to sit. The resort itself is large, safe, and includes free parking, which was very convenient for us. Another big advantage is the location — it is within walking distance to the heart of Lagos, making it easy to explore the city.
I’m not giving it five stars because it feels like a luxury five-star resort in every aspect, but because for the price we paid, it exceeded our expectations and gave us more than we expected. Overall, it was a very good stay and a great value option in Lagos.

This is an old hotel that could do with some TLC. The rooms can be on the small side, but be aware that this place is a rabbit warren and you need to be taken to your room aftwr check in otherwise you will waste time finding it! The reason for this is its built into a hillside, it was a good 5 minutes from out room to reception via a lift and a long, long corridor. Room.was adequate with a small balcony and a noisyish aircon unit.
The staff were great, the breakfast was sumptious, best go before 0800 to beat the golf crowd.
There is a bar on the first floor with a large projection screen for watching sports, it is well used of an evening. There is a resturaunt in the hotel but given the numeous eateries nearby we didn't use it. There is an Irish pub and an Indian resturaunt within walking distance if needs must.
Local cuisine abounds however and when in Portugal...
I was there in November and it was wet, there were no additional drying facilites offered for walkers or Golfers, an opportunity missed for the Hotel I think, just their regular laundry service for clothes and nothing for walking boots or shoes.
There is a resort of sorts there with a pool and sun loungers. I would go back again but not in High season.
