Food
The food in the hotel bar was fab. Portions are big and the prices are fair. The breakfast that’s included is basic and continental - toast/rolls, ham, cheese, butter, jam, cereal, milk, yogurt. There was fruit at the start but for the last few days there was none. We got bored of the included breakfast as it was the same thing every day so we ate in the bar instead.
Location
The hotel is located beside a supermarket that has everything you need. Only a few steps to the nearest pebbly beach and a few minutes from bars and restaurants. There is a bus to kos town that runs twice in the hour but we used the electric scooters instead.
Staff
The reception staff, the breakfast ladies, bar staff and the cleaners work very hard. They’re all friendly and very welcoming. Our room was not swept at all throughout our 2 week stay which was a bit of a bummer. But overall the beds were made daily and if we needed new towels you leave them on the floor. We had an issue with our tap and we notified the reception and it was fixed while we were out. The family is very friendly and genuinely work hard to make you feel welcomed and well fed.
Grounds
The pool area is a big big let down. The pool is ridiculously deep - the shallow part is 1.20m and the deepest is 3.20m which I would note if you are planning to travel with children who may not be able to swim. There is no lifeguard. There is no kids pool. There is also sunbed warriors that put towels on sunbeds even at 7am even though it is stated by the pool that no towels on sunbeds before 8am.

Just stayed at hotel iris for 2 week with my partner. We have no complaints. It was a very affordable holiday, we spent no more than £500 which included flights, baggage, transfer, and of course the hotel along with bed and breakfast! The lady’s who run the breakfast are really lovely ( as was everyone working at hotel iris ). The room was perfectly fine. I thought the retro headboard was quite cool contrary to what others seemed to say. The shower took a minute to figure out, it needed to be on so that the pressure could keep it upright but once it was on, it was great, really good pressure. We got air con when we arrived, we asked about this which I feel is fine? Someone else complained in their review that they weren’t offered it, but we asked about it and it was sorted out no problems. It was €8 a night which we were happy to pay after having to pay much more than that when in Rhodes last year. Admittedly, we were quite lazy this holiday, so spent quite a lot of our days around the pool. The pool is great! And the staff that works around the bar are lovely. There’s a really nice young couple that we saw the most, who were really friendly and approachable. The girl ( Selly I think her name is - sorry if this is incorrect ) makes the best smoothies 😁. We wanted to say a proper goodbye but unfortunately didn’t quite get the chance. The hotel had everything we needed. I really liked their efforts to be more environmentally friendly. They had signs about trying to reduce water usage, as well as a method adopted to change your bed sheets and towels. I saw a review complaining that their sheets and towels weren’t changed. Your sheets and towels can be changed as regularly as you wish them to be. There is a laminated card in your room ( which this reviewer obviously did not read ) which instructed customers to leave the card on the bed if they wanted their sheets changing, and to leave their towels on the floor if they wanted these changing. Overall, we had a great stay and would come again:) thank you to everyone at hotel iris! 😁

Perfect little base for our getaway. We got this break on a deal, well a right steal to be fair. And cannot complain for the price, we went self catering and the kitchen was adequate for us two, the pool area was clean, rooms were clean and tidy with a nice sized balcony. We spent most of our time exploring Kos and the old town. The beaches and all the restaurants. We were not looking for nightlife so stayed away from the front and ventured the back streets where it's peaceful. We did the 3 island excursion and highly recommend.

Arrived for a 5 night stay to a fancy looking hotel lobby. Reception man came out and obviously didn’t want to be there. Asked for our passports then sat in silence behind desk for couple of minutes.
Given key and directions to our room.
Unlocked the door..boiling hot…thought we had entered the 1970s! No upgrade in this room the headboard had a radio in it! A bath with no plug, no tv, shower over bath but was very powerful.
No control for air conditioning (had to pay an extra 40 euros we found out) but should have been told of this before we left reception.
Breakfast was rubbish. Limited choice but plenty of places to sit
Didn’t use hotel pool as wanted to stay out of rubbish room for as long as possible. Towels not replaced. Fridge balancing on small wooden table dangerously.
Would not stay at the Iris again

So here goes….. I am a woman of pretty simple tastes, I’m not that person who is prone to complaining or making a fuss unlike others I seem to see and find extremely annoying. I would say my bar is pretty low as opposed to my husband who likes the comforts of life. If you are a type of person like my hubby who likes things perfect and on the fancy side then the room we had is not for you so save your self the stress. If not I imagine you will spend a lot of the holiday complaining about the numerous inadequacies of this accommodation. Just to be clear I am not complaining about this room as our holiday was cheap, £1400 for three adults with a basic continental breaky thrown in and we went for 10 nights. So that’s a bargain all day long. We shred a room so it was tight, not a problem willing to sacrifice for economic reasons we also paid for air con obvs. As u can see from the pictures we he room is so old it’s actually retro and the headboard would possibly have some antique value and deffo get snapped up at some cool and happening retro store. The bathroom was reminiscent of my first hols abroad in the early80’s, again I actually find this kinda cute and nostalgic. However, I’m pretty weird… so my friends say. If you are averse to the basics then the cheap and uncomfortable mattresss could be an issue, the door that doesn’t close without a good foot shove and the pretty weak air com may be a hardship for u. Oh and the shower head needs some bodging to make it stay. Like I say me and the son love a bit drama and are very much not of the diva variety so we thought it mostly amusing. There’s a super cold fridge which identifies as air con so as a crazed menopausal women stand in front if it. It works wonders. It was a quiet hotel when we stayed mid July and seems to be run by a family. We were in the older rooms and I believe they have upgraded some others which you can pay more for. There are two lovely older women who do the breakfast and they are adorable. They make the cake and flapjacks themselves. Breaky is basic though but perfectly good enough if u want a meal at the start of the day. I’ll be honest we eat out every night so save our spends for this. The hotel pool has a bar and food but we rarely sat there except for beer breaks on occasional pool days. They do a steak night, music night and games night. We didn’t really attend but had a drink some nights there after being out. It really lacks atmosphere for me and the staff just seem knackered and not particularly chipper. We hired bikes from ideal who are the psalidi side of kos but town. Great older couple who couldn’t do enough for us. Kos town was incredibly hot and busy at this time of year and we won’t do it again but that’s down to preference. June is far nicer and quieter. Hire bikes to get u around it’s totally fab. Be warned though tourists and locals use scooters and mopeds on the cycling lanes so your wits are needed about you. Lambi beach is nice if you head past the harbour and go first right at the roundabout, google map old river which is a bar and they do free beds if u buy something. It’s busy though. Just before the old river is a lovely icevream and pastry shop where it’s got a traditional offering rather than sitting in a large generic bar. It’s preferable for me. Go to paradise beach it’s great and lovely views we went with a tui excursion but busses also go there.
