Hotel is situated directly on the beach, getting to the hotel from the airport was really simple, just take the A2 bus and it goes practically right outside the entrance.
My room was comfortable and clean, I noticed the aircon was disabled but I did go in January, so maybe it would be turned on during summer months, there was a ceiling fan however, and the balcony door could be opened for fresh air.
The staff were always wonderful which made the stay very pleasant. The general area is catered towards German guests, so if like me you don’t speak the language you may feel a little left out, or in some cases people assumed you knew German and spoke to you in the language, honest mistake though and quickly rectified when they realised, all staff I spoke to at the hotel were fluent in English, same can be said about the local shops.
I enjoyed my stay and will be coming back in future.

Do not go to this resort! We booked this resort based off the reviews and it’s all lies! This resort is absolutely disgusting. There’s no security on the resort at any time of the day. The rooms are so small no anir conditioning and our room had poo stains on the toilet and black hair all over the floors when we got in. The location is a disaster… there are German people yelling and screaming outside the resort kids throwing up everywhere. All German restaurants on the strip. There’s nothing about this area or hotel that feels like Spain at all. We checked in… and within 4 hours checked out and went to the marina melia… phenomenal resort.

Very pleased with the hotel. Nice welcoming reception. Nice sized, clean rooms, only disappointment was the size of the bathroom, which was very small but we managed.
Hotel has a really good breakfast included in the price, which exceeded my expectations (as you never know with a free American hotel breakfast!).
The selection was great, everything you need. Hot selection of bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, etc. Also fresh fruits, pastries, fresh juice, teas, etc etc. My family and I didn’t need lunch as it filled us up so much. It’s really busy between 9-10am though so be prepared or go earlier.
Pool was on the smaller size but absolutely fine for the kids to have a dip.
Fisherman’s Wharf is on your doorstep, so anything you want to see there is not too far by foot. Lots of restaurants to choose from there as well so no need to go anywhere else if you don’t want to venture too far.
Opposite hotel is a Safeway if you need any snacks or toiletries.
If you need some clothes washing there is a laundrette about 4 blocks away - ‘Wash This’ (the hotel laundry service is VERY expensive) Russ who works at Wash This was super helpful!
Literally two blocks away is the start of a tram line, next to Starbucks, it goes straight to Union Square, so super convenient to explore the other part of San Francisco.
We parked a car overnight at the hotel car park and it cost $57!! (for 12-24hrs). There is parking on the street and other car parks about but we didn’t really know how to use the on street parking (all a bit confusing for us Brits :-) or where the other car parks were (until it was too late) so I’d suggest doing a bit of research if you want to get a cheaper rate, wish we had.
So all in all I’d 100% recommend the hotel for a very nice, above average, very fair priced hotel ($700 for 3 nights for 4 people in 1 Room - Queen) in a good tourist area of San Fran. Thank you Hotel Riu!

The hotel is very nice - rooms are pretty and tidy, food tasty and plenty to choose from, especially breakfasts are amazing. Staff extremely friendly. Very calm and adult atmosphere.
There were only 2 minor downsides to our stay: the hotel is in a German party location. So if you have a room facing the side of the hotel, be ready for party noises at night and singing Germans at 2am.
Also I would appreciate complimentary water with dinner and not being charged for it. But I have noticed this seems to be the standard nowadays even in nicer hotels.

Great location but they didnt have Air conditioning in the room that they dont tell you before booking and when you check in. They will say that it automatically turns on at 2pm but it doesn’t. They will only tell you when you complain that it’s a problem. Paid $$$ for this hotel but it’s too hot in the room. They will advise you to open the window and the ceiling fan but it’s too noisy outside and the room is still is hot with the ceiling fan. you won't get sleep, such a waste of money.
