I stayed at Hotel Las Palmeras during my trip to Fuengirola in February. While the hotel excels in terms of logistics and location, the internal environment may be a challenge for those who prioritize a quiet, sensory-friendly retreat.
The Highlights: Location & Service
Unbeatable Access: The hotel is perfectly situated just a few meters from the harbor and the promenade. It’s an ideal spot for peaceful morning walks by the water before the crowds arrive.
Efficiency: Check-in was a breeze. The staff were friendly, professional, and highly efficient, which made the arrival process much less taxing.
The View: My room featured a balcony with a lovely view of the surrounding area. It’s a great spot to enjoy the coastal air from a private vantage point.
The Environment: Noise Levels
As someone who prefers quieter surroundings, there are a few things to keep in mind regarding the soundscape of this hotel:
External Noise: Depending on your room's placement, you will likely hear the hum of nearby bars and restaurants in the evening. This is typical for such a central location, but worth noting if you are sensitive to ambient city sounds.
Internal Disruptions: The primary drawback was the lack of soundproofing between rooms. I experienced significant noise from the adjoining rooms and corridors—specifically loud conversations, doors banging, and music playing into the early hours. Unfortunately, there seemed to be little consideration from other guests regarding noise levels at night.
If you are looking for a central hub that is steps away from the sea and managed by a great team, Las Palmeras fits the bill. However, if you are sensitive to noise or need a guaranteed quiet environment to recharge, I would recommend requesting a room away from the elevators/main corridors or bringing a high-quality pair of noise-canceling headphones.

The hotel is in a prime location. The hotel needs lots of TLC, but the rooms are very clean and the staff are very welcoming. We understand that the hotel's prime location is a significant advantage. It's also noted that while the establishment may require some attention and care, the rooms are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. Furthermore, the welcoming nature of the staff has been positively acknowledged. We appreciate you sharing these observations about the hotel's amenities and services.

Met expectations for a 4-star hotel at a price of just over €40 per night with breakfast.
Location is great, breakfast buffet had decent variety and overall everything was very clean, albeit a bit old.
There are a lot of bad reviews, to summarise those. Consider ponying up some extra cash for a different hotel if:
- You expect modern and recently renovated
- You are sensitive to noise. Nearby bars and discos are loud, especially during the weekend

Staff were brilliant reception bar restaurant and cleaners. Rooms are large and in good condition. Food was good fresh not always hot though. My bedroom external door didn't seal closed so noise from outside travelled into my room. It is very good value for money and convenient for public transport. Pool area could do with modernising. But I have stayed in a few bad hotels and this is NOT one of them.

My stay at Las Palmeras Hotel was extremely disappointing and fell significantly short of the standards expected of a 4-star property. The overall experience reflected poor maintenance, inadequate service, lack of transparency, and very poor value for money.
The room suffered from numerous basic issues that should never occur in a hotel of this category. There was no toilet brush in the bathroom, the bathroom door did not close properly, the bed produced constant squeaking noises, and the pillows were extremely small and uncomfortable. The room mirror was visibly dirty, and there was dust on wall pictures, clearly indicating insufficient housekeeping and attention to detail. These conditions do not even meet basic hospitality standards.
The terrace was dirty and poorly maintained, with no ashtray provided. The fridge was completely empty, and guests are required to pay extra simply to use the in-room safe, which is unreasonable and outdated practice. Electrical facilities were completely inadequate: there was only one usable socket for charging personal devices, while the TV, fridge, and room phone were all connected through a single extension with three connections. This is clearly unsafe and entirely unsuitable for a room booked for three people.
Hotel facilities were also misrepresented. The swimming pool was closed due to the off-season, yet this information was not disclosed at the time of booking. This lack of transparency is misleading and unacceptable, especially when facilities influence booking decisions.
We paid in advance for breakfast and dinner. However, on 31st December, dinner was unilaterally replaced with lunch without any prior notice due to a private New Year’s Eve event. This decision demonstrated clear prioritisation of private profit over guests who had already paid for services, with no compensation or alternatives offered.
Food quality was consistently poor, forcing us to eat outside the hotel and spend additional money. As a result, the stay represented a complete waste of money.
There were also serious safety and hygiene concerns throughout the hotel. Multiple floor hazards were present in the main corridors, and rubbish was left near fire exit doors, which is unacceptable and potentially dangerous.
Customer service was particularly poor. At check-in, the receptionist failed to explain any hotel facilities, services, or procedures. No information leaflets were provided, no welcome or assistance was offered, and the room cards were simply handed over in an envelope with a brief mention of the floor number. This lack of professionalism further reflected the hotel’s overall disregard for guest experience.
Based on this experience, I strongly advise potential guests not to book this hotel and not to waste their money. The hotel’s 4-star rating is highly misleading, and there are far better accommodations available at the same or lower price. Even basic hostels offer better cleanliness, transparency, service, and value than this establishment.
