Our honeymoon stay at the Gran Meliá in Mallorca was nothing short of unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with the warmest, most attentive service—we genuinely felt cared for every step of the way. Every member of staff, from concierge and check-in to the restaurant team and even the wonderful housekeeping staff who looked after our room so beautifully, made our experience feel special.
Our room was absolutely incredible. The views were breathtaking, the bed was huge and unbelievably comfortable, and we loved having such a spacious living area. The two large balconies made it even more magical—perfect for soaking in the scenery and enjoying peaceful moments together. There was also plenty of storage space, which made settling in effortless, and everything was kept spotless with frequent cleaning, fresh water bottles, and even little chocolate treats throughout the day.
The spa was a true highlight—relaxing, luxurious, and exactly what we needed during our honeymoon. Breakfast each morning was equally impressive: fresh, varied, and full of delicious options to suit every mood.
The location is simply unbeatable. Being so close to the sea made every day feel like a dream, and having a bus stop just a short walk away—with a direct route into Palma in around 30–45 minutes—made exploring incredibly easy.
With air-conditioned rooms, countless thoughtful amenities, and such a high level of care and attention to detail, this hotel exceeded all our expectations. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate such a special time in our lives. We can’t wait to go back.
Roam & Review
A truly relaxing luxury stay in Mallorca. The rooms were clean, spacious, and beautifully designed, with a balcony that opened directly to stunning sea views — definitely one of the highlights of the experience.
The entire property has a calm and premium atmosphere, perfect for unwinding. The pool area, bar, and wellness centre all add to the relaxing vibe and make the stay feel complete.
The staff were extremely helpful and attentive throughout, always ready to assist with any request. One thing to note is that certain amenities like toiletries, an iron, and a table are available on demand rather than readily placed in the room. However, the minibar is conveniently included in the room.
Overall, De Mar Gran Meliá Mallorca offers a peaceful and luxurious escape with excellent service and breathtaking surroundings
It's bit over pricy but it's worth each penny.

A truly special stay at the Gran Meliá de Mar in Illetas 💙
We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to the incredible team who made our time here - especially for my dad - so memorable. The care, warmth and attention to detail shown throughout our stay meant more to us than we can properly put into words.
A particular thank you to Barbara from Guest Experience, who went above and beyond, and to Nuno for such a thoughtful and memorable wine tasting. Blanca greeted us so beautifully each morning at breakfast, setting the tone for each day, and we were equally touched by the kindness of Cynthia, Flor and Ramon.
In truth, every single person we encountered made us feel welcome — even the gentleman preparing omelettes each morning, whose friendliness never went unnoticed (we’re sorry we didn’t catch your name!).
It’s the small touches that stay with you, and this team delivers them effortlessly. Thank you all for making our time so special - it will stay with us for a long time.

Spacious rooms, extensive breakfast - very friendly chef who would get you anything you like - and good local wines and cheeses for a tasting of the island’s treasures. They were just starting up for the season, we were there before Easter, so they had a mix of experienced and dedicated staff and some very new additions. We hope to come back to a little warmer temperatures. A good mails of garden, beach and terrace deck chairs and sun beds. Easy access to the city with bus 4, taxi or Uber, nice options to rent a boat.

We had a genuinely excellent stay at the Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá adults-only property just outside Palma. The hotel (known locally as the "chocolate box hotel") sits right on the water with direct sea frontage — rocky coves, palm trees, and that deep Mediterranean blue at every turn.
Room & interiors. Recently renovated to a high standard: warm oak floors, sculptural ceiling fan, a low-slung sofa, and clean Scandinavian-meets-Mediterranean styling. What impressed us most was the bed orientation — positioned to face directly out to the terrace and sea, so you wake up to sunrise over the water rather than the usual side-on layout. The in-room bar cabinet is beautifully fitted with proper wine glasses, Nespresso, a Krups kettle, local snacks, and a minibar.
The bathroom is large, finished in textured stone tiles with double basins and a generous walk-in rainfall shower. Daily turndown service and complimentary bottled water throughout.
Pools & outdoor space. Multiple distinct pool areas rather than one crowded hub — a sleek dark-tiled lap pool set against the hotel facade, a freeform main pool lined with cabanas, and a natural rock pool carved into the coastline with sunbeds right at the water's edge. The gardens are well maintained with lavender beds, sculpted hedging, and mature pines — there's genuine space between guests, which makes a real difference. Sunbeds are Alberta Ferretti-branded, which is a nice touch.
Food & facilities. Breakfast is a proper Spanish buffet — extensive, good quality, and best enjoyed at a terrace table overlooking the sea. The restaurant, Bombon by Alberta Ferretti, delivers nicely for evening desserts and drinks on the balcony.
The spa and gym are solid: multiple shower experiences, steam room, sauna, and hot tubs.
Location. Illetes is quiet and residential — an oasis compared to central Palma — but it's only 15–20 minutes by taxi if you want the old town, restaurants, or the harbour.
The Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá, Illetes, Mallorca is well-suited for couples looking for a calm, well-run property with genuine seafront access and design interiors. We would return for a relaxing sunshine break.
