The pros: Nice view from our balcony, the Portuguese authentic style of the hotel, the swimming pool was nicely cleaned, direct access to the beach through the hotel.
The cons: The hotel is advertised as a 4 stars but the service is closer to a 2 stars. No enthusiasm or smile from any of the staff. The breakfast is really repetitive and of a low quality (I would call into question the actual freshness of some of the products). Breakfast stops serving at 10.30am but my partner and myself were publicly humiliated for showing up at 10.10am.
On our last day, I was working from the table on our balcony. A bucket of water was poured from the upper floor and unconviniently felt onto my laptop (which is now non functional) and other belonging. The hotel denied all forms of responsibility. They dragged me to the room upstairs to meet and discuss with the residents rather than trying to solve the problem by themselves. The hotel manager could not be less concerned and the general atmosphere in the hotel seems to be a mere reflection of her attitude and sense of care towards customers. Our impression was that the hotel has become a shadow of what may have been a glorious past.
I would not recommend paying such a high price to receive this treatment.

Good hotel with an awesome view on the bay and a really nice garden area around the pool and along the way to the beach. If you want a quiete and relaxing place without huge hotel around this is the right place to go.
The whole design of the hotel is lovely and much nicer than those huge blocks.
Only thing to mention is that some parts of the room had their best years already. But regarding the price and what you get I am really happy with the choice.

A wonderful hotel with stunning views.I totally disagree with the views made by someone called Francisca. We have been staying at the Casabela for many years. The hotel has won many environmental awards from Tui. They have planted and preserved the land around their property and repaired old farm dwellings . They collect water for the gardens and run solar panels to heat their water. Look at the photos you will see Someone seems to have a problem but I certainly don't agree with them.

I tottally disagree with the comment of Mrs. Francisca.
How can a person be so unfair and far away from reality?
The fact is the owner of Casabela has always reserved and preserved all the area around the hotel.
The hotel has got many awards and a good sustainability program.
The Hotel Casabela is an example to show the world, how nature and landscaping should be done.
Casabela is integrated in a big and beautiful natural park.
I know the hotel for a long time and I can assure you that the standard is:
- Prime location
- Private pathway to the beach
- Best views
- High class and excellent service
- Good food and of course the friendly and professional staff.

The owner of the hotel is a disrespectful man that treats villagers badly. He's building more and more in ferragudo and destroying this wonderful place with bad and ugly architecture. I tried the hotel and it offers low quality for what you pay per night. I don't recommend
