We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Elounda Bay hotel, and it was a truly exceptional experience from start to finish. The service was nothing short of perfect and incredibly considerate; the staff anticipated our needs and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable.
The hotel's beach is a real highlight—pristine, well-maintained, and a perfect spot for relaxation. The food was consistently delicious, with a wonderful variety of options. Breakfast, in particular, was fantastic, offering a huge selection to start the day right. We also loved the range of sea activities available, which added an element of adventure to our trip.
Elounda Bay truly lives up to its reputation as a "Leading Hotel of the World." The attention to detail, impeccable service, and top-tier amenities make it a standout destination. We can't wait to return.

The hotel is by no means bad, so I want to make it clear that my two-star rating should not be seen as criticism of the hotel itself, and especially not of the staff.
The reason I am giving only two stars is that this is absolutely not a 5-star hotel, although it presents itself as one and charges accordingly. At best, it’s a 4-star property. The food is fine, but nothing special. The grounds are spacious, yes, but far from a 5-star standard, as everything feels old and in need of renovation.
The rooms are by far the weakest point: outdated, worn down, small, and very nois. you hear everything.
The best thing about the hotel is the staff. Whether at reception, housekeeping, or service, everyone is extremely friendly and attentive.
The worst thing is the value for money. The hotel sells itself as a 5-star property, which it most definitely is not, yet still charges 5-star prices. (For example: a non-alcoholic beer at the pool costs €8.)
Not worth the Money, but not a bad hotel

perfect location surrounded by stunning scenery, its own two small private beaches, and several pools. food excellent in quality and choice, staff lovely, quiet area away from all the noise and mayhem of busy resorts their crowds. perfect for couples, families and more mature holidaymakers wanting to avoid the nightclubs, party goers and drunken tourists. slightly older building and decor but doesn't detract from our stay. excellent!

The hotel cannot really be considered a 5 star. The staff was kind and welcoming. Food was ok for breakfast and dinner, but I had the impression that it didn’t change much from one day to the next. The buffet itself lacked decoration, felt dark, and did not have the refinement you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The rooms were not well decorated and too simple. The location is quite far from everything, so you can’t really go anywhere without renting a car. In the morning, it was very noisy because the doors need to be slammed to close properly. The place feels old and in need of renovation. The sauna is very small, and you have to rely on a buggy to go to another complex in order to use it. The fitness area was ok, prices at the bar were quite expensive.
We also stayed at another 5 star hotel in Crete during our trip, and the comparison is impossible to make - the difference clearly showed us that this hotel is not truly a 5 star.
Its a decent place, but be prepared to find more of a 4 or less star experience rather than a true 5 star.

We stayed at Elounda Bay Palace for a week. The food was very good and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which we really appreciated. On the downside, the room felt quite old inside( bungalows) and didn’t match the price we paid – definitely overpriced for what it offered. Overall, a mixed experience: great service, food and location but the accommodation needs an update asap.”
