We stayed at Cerro Mar Garden in Albufeira and overall had a very pleasant experience.
We arrived very early in the morning because of an early flight, and unfortunately our apartment was not ready for quite some time. It seemed that the previous guests had checked out late, which delayed the cleaning. However, when the new shift at reception started, the staff did their best to help us. Originally we had booked an apartment in the Atlantic building of the same complex, but they upgraded us to an apartment in the Garden section, which actually has a slightly higher rating. We were very grateful for that.
About three hours after arrival we were finally checked in, and the apartment itself was wonderful — spacious, comfortable, and with a beautiful ocean view.
The only small issue was that our electronic key cards didn’t work properly at first. These cards are used both for entering the residence and for activating the electricity in the apartment. After calling reception, a staff member came to us in just a few minutes and replaced the cards. Considering that the normal walking distance from reception to our building is about seven minutes, this was impressively fast service.
The hotel offers several facilities including a swimming pool, sauna, and fitness room. Pool towels can be rented for a €5 deposit (or you can bring your own), and massages are available for an additional fee. Breakfast is offered as a buffet if it’s not included in your booking, and dinner is also available with a reservation.
The location is also very convenient — within walking distance of the old town, restaurants, and the beach, but still quiet enough to relax.
Unfortunately, I had one less pleasant experience at the spa reception. The woman working there did not seem very friendly, and it felt like she was reluctant to communicate in languages other than Portuguese. I noticed that she was much more welcoming with Portuguese guests. Because of this interaction, I decided to reduce my rating by one star.
The parking area is free around the complex.
Overall, this is a comfortable apartment hotel with beautiful views, good facilities, and helpful reception staff. With slightly more consistent customer service, it could easily be a full five-star experience.

Just a short walk to the old town, the pool was good. We were here in February so the outdoor pool was a little chilly. The receptions staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The only thing id say was the the gym wasnt amazing- it had no air con( dont know if that was the time of year) and the weights selection was all a bit mismatched. Also most of the equipment you couldn't add weights to. Other then that though a brilliant stay and highly recommend

We stayed here over the past week and had a nice experience overall, rooms were nice, hotel was nice, we had a fantastic view of Old Town and the sea which was a big plus, hotel drink prices were reasonable although one evening we ordered 2 portions of take away fries one night and wer charged €12 for skinny frozen mcdonalds fries which were slightly undercooked, not great, pool was nice, kids got the beds and we got the sofa bed, had a few rough nights of sleep as its quite hard, Wife and daughter used the sauna and had a lovely experience, had a games room for kids, indoor pool which was a nice option, upon arrival we were hit with a surprise tourist tax which we were not expecting, hate places that apply hidden charges, declare these charges at the beginning so we can see the real cost of staying in your establishment, our regular cleaner was nice and looked after us and made sure we had everything we needed in our room like toilet roll, fresh towels etc but on one morning we did have 2 different cleaners enter our room with no warning, scanned themselves in without knocking and then closed the door and walked away without communication which was very weird, seemed a bit suspicious behaviour. Hotel has a free shuttle bus which is handy for going to old town but last one back was 5.30pm so had to use those steep steps to get back in the evenings, free Wifi was a big plus for the kids, overall I would recommend 👍

We always stay here when we come to Albufeira. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Love the facilities and good location for exploring the area. Highly recommend.
An update would be that after staying here for nearly 10 years the apartments could do with a refurb re furniture fixtures and fittings etc. However this is personal choice and the apartments are spotlessly clean.

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in… honestly, it would be generous to call this a 2-star hotel.
• Cleanliness is terrible. Dust everywhere, stains on the furniture, rust on the air conditioning (which didn’t even work), and the kitchen was never cleaned.
• Beds are awful. The mattresses were completely sunken in and extremely uncomfortable. The “third bed” in our 3-person room literally felt like a board with springs, we all left with back pain.
• Bugs & hygiene. There were ants all over the apartment. Staff sprayed something once but then ignored the issue.
• Unhelpful service. We had to call multiple times just to get extra sheets, and overall the staff was not proactive.
• False advertising. The so-called “spa” is just a humid indoor pool , nothing relaxing about it. All the photos are overly edited, the rooms look NOTHING like the photos.
• Overall neglected. The place feels old, dirty, and poorly maintained, with zero attention to guest comfort.
I don’t understand how this hotel still has good ratings, it’s completely misleading. Save your money and avoid this place.
