Great value hotel. 3 min walk to beach - 15 to the best area for sunbathing. 20m walk to excellent shopping centre or surfing area. Great food available at restaurants/cafes nearby. The staff are so helpful - a real asset to the hotel. It's a shame rooms do not have balconies or fridge but they are basic and comfortable. The hotel has an excellent roof terrace (found space to do yoga in the sun every morning) with a delightful heated pool, small gym we used everyday, sauna and bar. All this and breakfast buffet included. Superb value for money.

Rooms were comfortable, a but tired looking but clean and enough space for storage . Beds were comfortable. Staff were very friendly and responsive. They have good tours leaving from the hotel which was worth the money. The hotel is close to Santa Catalina (10 -15 min) walk which is one of the two bus stations. A local bus stand about 3 min walk has frequent buses to San Telmo and direct buses to the north coastal areas. Food was good though a tad repetitive for vegetarians, but very healthy and good dessert and soups

Rooms need a serious update in line with the rest of the hotel. Sergio on Reception was very helpful and friendly. Dining Room - a lot of variety but unfortunately hot food was cold everyday. Unfortunately we won't be going back or recommend this hotel.

For a city centre hotel in the one the busier areas of Las Palmas, the Astoria is well placed. All of the attractions are within walking distance, or are a short walk to a bus stop or taxi rank. There are plenty of beaches to choose from and a vast array of seafront bar/restaurants. The hotel restaurant could be a little crowded during breakfast times, and the rooms could use a light refresh. There are two lifts one of which goes from floors 0-5 & the other from floor-1 - 5. Floor-1 is where the restaurant is located and floor 5 is the rooftop terrace, swimming pool, with sun loungers, and the terrace bar. The hotel is also wheelchair accessible with easy access from the street to the reception area. All rooms have a safe, which can be hired at €2 per day, with a €5 deposit, refunded upon returning the key. If you are planning a city break, then this hotel is well worth the money.

Hotel is roughly a 40 - 50 Euro taxi away from the airport.
Hotel is located near a beach and has two supermarkets within a couple minutes walk at most. + A casino nextdoor.
The hotel itself is more than nice enough, however, there is SIGNIFICANT ISSUE. The issue is that there are A LOT of ongoing roadworks outside of the hotel, bringing down the overall finish of the area.
This IS NOT the hotels fault, but it did impact our trip and upon arrival, made me think "what have I booked".
Checking in was pleasant enough. Hotel staff have a decent comprehension of the English language which is great because our Espanol is poor at best.
The room is more than adequate, plus you get two room keys, one can be left in the room to allow constant flow from the air-conditioning. Ideal for ghostly looking pale-skinned Brits and alike.
We opted for Half-Board, the morning breakfast was quite nice with decent options. Evening meal was more than pleasant, with good quality food & ingredients, although it's VERY limited. Due to the lack of choice of an evening time, we ate out, not an issue as I only booked Half-Board over Bed & Breakfast because it was a couple quid more per person.
So having said that, even if the evening meal was extremely poor, it cost so little extra over bed & breakfast, it would have to be a disaster to be disappointed.
This hotel has a 5th floor rooftop bar with pool, a pool table, lots of indoor & outdoor seating, plus a large room with huge flat screen TV, which showed football most evenings, this was very welcome.
The bar itself, drinks are cheap enough, their two beers of choice are Tropical (330 ML cans) or Dorada on draft, small or large, large being 500 ML, no pints in the canaries!
A large beer on draft cost €2.50 & a cocktail was €5.50. They also do lovely bar snacks, these cost quite a lot! But if you're hungry it's all pleasant enough but not cheap!
Overall decent place, would go again, the condition of the surrounding area let this place down, but it's not their fault. The gentleman on reception explained that the workman are extremely slow, the roadworks had been going on Monday - Friday for over a year! I cannot comment on when this work will be finished resulting in a nicer stay.
