We had the best stay at this hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We’ve truly enjoyed ourselves, and they were absolutely amazing with our baby boy, Nathan. We are definitely coming back!
A very special shout-out to Eylen Garcia you are truly amazing and made our experience even more memorable. Thank you for everything!

We've just had a lovely stay at the barcelo Lanzarote Royal level. Spotlessly clean rooms. Great selection of food (quality produce). Friendly and helpful staff. Access to all areas in the barcelo active hotel across the road which has an Olympic laned pool (available at extra charge 3 or 4 Euro). Free on road parking available at the front and back of the hotel. Well worth a visit.

Stayed Royal Level
Staff soooooooo friendly and helpful.
Food - could be a bit more variety but was happy with quality. Lots of healthy options.
Hotel facilities and location was great.
Drinks - lots of branded spirits available.
Would 100% stay again. We will be back.

Adequate hotel but with notable drawbacks. We stayed for a single night with young kids and had half board. Would not return for the €250 price we paid, too many little things add up and I would probably prefer to pay €100 less for a well managed 3* hotel.
Pros: royal level areas were quieter, but the regular pools seemed nicer and warmer, and had more to do for kids. We only had buffet at royal level (asana) and food and service was good, but cleanliness was lacking with dirty chair pillows, tables were spaced too closely for my liking. Good selection of teas and even coffee was decent (for an automatic machine). Room was spacious. Kids club was nice and large. Staff always pleasant and nice. Resort is huge and seems like has lots to do, especially sports, but we didn't have time for that.
Cons: noticeable sewage smell in bathroom, not bad enough to deal with inconvenience of changing rooms when staying a single night but still very annoying. Our ground floor view was of some bushes and powerplant. Room felt tired overall and sofa bed was uncomfortable, but ok for a single night. Resort is huge and we had to walk a kilometer across the street and 3 floors up to get from the room to the kids club, the resort map is needed to not get lost.
Attention to detail was a bit lacking: room had some dust, sofa bed was not premade, our keys were already deactivated 15 minutes before checkout time and we needed housekeeper to let us in.

I’ll split this review into different sections to give a full overview of the hotel and experience. For reference, we stayed on the Royal Level all inclusive package, which I’d definitely recommend paying extra for.
Food & Drink:
I was genuinely surprised by the food and drinks (in a good way!). All the drinks were branded; beers included Heineken and Cruzcampo on tap, with Sol, Stella and others available bottled. Spirits such as Whitley Neill gin and Smirnoff were all included in the all-inclusive package, aside from a few premium/speciality options. We could also get both regular and sugar-free Red Bull included. The bar staff were great too; they happily made cocktails that weren’t even on the menu, including Long Island Iced Teas.
The food was solid across the board. We only ate in the Royal Level restaurant, so I can’t comment on the main buffet, but there was a really good variation each night including steaks, pasta, fish, chips, chicken, plenty of vegetables, plus a fresh cooking station. Desserts, ice cream and snacks were always available too. During the day you could grab burgers, nuggets, hot dogs, slushies and more from the snack counter.
We also ate at the Italian and Japanese restaurants. You get one free voucher included with your stay, and we earned another by winning the hotel triathlon. The Japanese restaurant, KOI, is an absolute must visit.
Rooms:
The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. Ours had a balcony and a fully stocked mini bar, including alcohol. The rainfall shower was great, and there was a large mirror by the sink area. The bed was comfy, with plenty of storage space in the wardrobe and drawers. Hairdryer, iron, ironing board, hangers and a safe were all provided. There was also a large TV and a sofa area, although we didn’t spend much time in the room as we were out by the pool most of the day.
Pools:
We mainly used the Royal Level pool, which has its own exclusive bar and was absolutely worth the upgrade. It stayed quiet throughout the day and there were always plenty of sunbeds available. There’s also another Royal Level pool around the back of the hotel.
The main pool is huge and also seemed to have lots of available space, although we didn’t spend much time there ourselves. Pool towels were provided and could be exchanged whenever needed.
The hotel also has a 50m Olympic swimming pool. We paid €35 for a block of 10 swims, which was ideal if you enjoy proper length swimming.
Activities & Entertainment:
There was plenty going on throughout the day and evening; bingo, singers, poolside games and other activities. We’re not massively into entertainment, so we usually ended up at the smaller bar in the evenings where they had live singers and acoustic guitar players, which was a much more relaxed atmosphere.
The hotel triathlon in the 50m pool was surprisingly good fun too, and included a free T-shirt and swimming cap.
Location:
Location wasn’t a huge issue for us as we usually book all inclusive holidays to completely switch off and stay around the resort. That said, we did walk into the main town and back, which worked out at around an 8km round trip.
The hotel backs directly onto a beach where you can snorkel around the rock pools, although there isn’t any sand there. We also booked a buggy excursion and were picked up directly from the hotel, which was really convenient.
Overall:
We genuinely loved our stay and would happily return. The Royal Level upgrade was 100% worth it for the quieter pool areas, exclusive restaurant and overall experience. Our only slight negative was the weather being a little hit or miss in mid-May, some cloudy and windy periods mixed in with plenty of sunshine! Overall we had a brilliant trip.
