What an impressive user experience! Our first visit to Malta and stay at the AX Hotel was truly exceptional. For a mere 25 euros extra (note: off-peak season), we could upgrade to an Executive Suite with a private sauna.
Arrival: The staff left us impressed with their incredible friendliness. Never before have I been treated so warmly and respectfully in any of my previous hotel stays. Despite the affordable off-peak season rates, we experienced top-notch service that made us feel like VIPs (even though we didn't avail ourselves of such treatment). A huge thank you to the entire hotel team for a fantastic vacation.
Room: The Executive Suite was an absolute dream. The view could have been better, but the room was one of the cleanest we've ever stayed in. It was spacious and had everything one could need – simply fantastic.
The culinary experience was just mega. The variety and quality of the food exceeded our expectations. The waitstaff were uniformly great, always attentive and friendly. Without a doubt, this hotel must be recommended – from the excellent cuisine to the top-notch service, an all-around successful experience.
Finally, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the entire staff for this wonderful vacation. Your outstanding service and the friendly atmosphere made our stay an unforgettable experience. Thank you very much!

On paper we got great value for money, but our stay was plagued with bad service – or maybe lack of communication between staff.
1. The booking was on my name, and all but one of us checked-in at the same time. I told staff at the front desk that the remaining person would arrive later, and gave them their name. When the last guest arrived, they had a lot of trouble checking-in because they were told there wasn't any reservation under my name. It turns out that someone had decided to change the reservation under the name of another guest.
2. We had requested twin beds for both rooms through Booking. When we arrived the beds on both rooms were joined together – a large bed configuration. We told staff at the front desk, and they promised to fixed it. We went out for dinner, and when we came back the beds still hadn't been made as 2 twin beds. We had to make the request again and wait. Only then it got done.
3. There was opened milk and juice in one of the room's fridge. I asked staff at the front desk to please clean that up, and they said they would. It was never cleaned up during our whole stay.
4. Similarly, I had asked for a toothbrush and a bathrobe, and staff at the front-desk promised to have them delivered to our room. Didn't happen. I had to ask again.
5. Woke up on Sunday at 7am with loud sounds coming from the toilet and a strong smell of chlorine.
6. During breakfast, each time I stood up to get some food, someone would take my plate and cutlery away. I'd have to constantly ask for new cutlery.
7. At breakfast on Sunday I sat down, and the cutlery was still dirty.
8. Check-out is on the later side in this hotel. Room service knocked on the door on the last day at 9am to prepare the room for the next guest. I told them I'd be checking out close to the check-out time, and left a "do not disturb" sign outside my room. They knocked the door again an hour before check-out time to once again check whether they could prepare the room for the next person. Staff should know whether the room has been vacated – prepare the room then, not when I'm still in the room!
I can only conclude that basic guest requests are consistently missed because staff aren't talking to each other. This is a 4-star hotel based on its amenities, but as long as the service remains this dysfunctional it's far from actually having 4-star service.

The breakfast was good
The hotel is within residences area and you need to walk 7-13 minutes to reach to the sea front sidewalk and ferry terminal.
The room is acceptable yet you can have better options in the nearby hotels with same or even less price.
The hotel room has no cool A/C but heater in the winter time even though it was so warm where thankfully the room services gave me a fan.
This hotel has a connection to the sister hotel the palace hotel in the other side where you can dine.
Again I stayed one night then I booked another better choice with less price.

Just stayed for a week, it was like living in a building site (07:00 -16:00) plus the road outside is closed at one end and cars are honky their horns all day long (non of this was mentioned when booking). The staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is plentyful, but of average quality and the hot food is often cold. The balcony rooms are of good size, but only one sitting chair ?. The balcony looked out onto the building site, lovley !!. The indoor pool is nice but too small for the number of guests . To sum up I would say my stay was OK, (been better with ear defenders for the noise), it's 3 star hotel at best.

Fantastic staff and great rooms in the cozy backstreets of Sliema. It’s well worth the visit. The restaurant at the roof top has very good Asian fusion offers.
