Overall we had a very nice stay at Athena Palace and there were many positives.
The rooms were great, comfortable, and exactly what we needed for our family. The staff throughout the resort were friendly, welcoming, and whenever we had a small issue it was handled quickly and professionally, which we really appreciated.
The location and views are beautiful and there are many employees who clearly work hard to give guests a great experience.
A few areas could be improved. The resort activities were very limited compared to other resorts we have visited. We also found the entertainment program was almost entirely focused toward French-speaking guests, even the posted activity notices were only written in French. This made it difficult for non-French-speaking guests to know what was happening or feel included. A more international approach would make a big difference.
Also, many of the extra games and activities around the resort came with additional charges.
We would avoid spending money in the resort gift shop. Instead, we recommend walking a few minutes down the street and supporting the lovely older lady at the small local shop , she was extremely kind, friendly, and deserves the business.
Overall, Athena Palace is a beautiful resort with great rooms and many wonderful staff members. A few improvements with guest inclusion and activities would make the experience much better.

I highly recommend Athina Palace Resort and Spa! This hotel is incredibly beautiful and spacious, making it easy to enjoy long walks around the property. We celebrated our honeymoon here and were completely satisfied with our experience. The staff is wonderful and always ready to help. Our room was clean and beautifully appointed. The food was delicious and offered a great variety. We enjoyed walking to the beach, but there is also transportation available if you prefer. The sea and the beach were pristine and well-maintained. Additionally, there are bars by the pool and on the beach, enhancing our relaxation. Thank you, Athina Palace Resort and Spa, for an unforgettable stay!

Overall, our vacation left mixed feelings. The island itself is beautiful, with amazing sea views and very nice sunsets, but the hotel definitely does not feel like a real 5-star resort.
The beach is decent, with small pebbles instead of sand. The sea in May was still quite cold, so swimming was difficult and took time to get used to. Only one day was warm enough for comfortable swimming. There is a shuttle to the beach sometimes, but walking back means going uphill, so transport is definitely appreciated.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is the views and the large territory. Walking around the resort is very pleasant. There are two pools, bars, drinks, ice cream, and snacks available during the day. Unfortunately, the snack selection is extremely limited and almost the same every day. The pools were also too cold in May.
The rooms and small houses around the territory seriously need renovation and cosmetic repairs. Cleanliness was one of the biggest disappointments. Sand was simply swept under the furniture, bed sheets were often not replaced but just rearranged, which honestly was shocking for this level of hotel. During our whole stay, fresh bed sheets were changed only once, and during the last days some sheets were even torn. Towels were also not always replaced with clean ones.
Food quality was another weak point. Breakfasts were very repetitive, lunches often felt low quality, and dinners had more variety but still many dishes repeated daily. Vegetables were cut carelessly, fruit selection was small, and fruits were often not even peeled properly. During the last few days, the food experience became very disappointing.
One very positive thing included with all inclusive were two dinners at the Greek tavern inside the hotel. The atmosphere there was excellent, food was tasty, and the waiters were extremely polite and professional. On the other hand, the modern restaurant inside the hotel was disappointing — meat was tough, full of tendons, and overall the food quality was poor.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Car rental directly at the hotel is more expensive than outside companies, but very convenient because you can rent a car within minutes without deposit or additional insurance. The SPA and massage were also very good, although expensive.
One thing that felt very strange was that almost all entertainment and activities were done only in French. It honestly felt like the hotel was designed only for French guests, even though there were many tourists from other countries. Many people simply could not participate because everything was exclusively in French. For an international resort, this is a big disadvantage.
Would I return again? Probably not, unless the hotel goes through renovation and improves the overall quality and international atmosphere.
The views are beautiful, but unfortunately beautiful views alone are not enough for a real 5-star experience.

We have recently stayed and the all
Inclusive is very nice apart from the entertainment staff! Once they realise you don’t have a blue wristband they are not interested - apparently their English is not good but managed to find some on day 9 of our break. With a teenage son he would have loved to have been involved in the entertainment and daily games but constantly walked past and not even engaged at all, genuinely like we hadn’t paid to be here. If you are French you will love it, such a shame as the active pool bar man was lovely, daily conversations and made it really pleasant. Nadia the lifeguard and Maria in the main restaurant in the evenings ( doesn’t work Mondays ) were attentive and friendly. The hotel itself is well kept and the lunchtime staff were also kind, even the shuttle bus driver had a smile- the same can’t be said for the man in the shop ! Wow! Just a shame as I thought all inclusive was for everyone. This was a let down for the hotel.

We had an excellent holiday. Service all round fantastic, great rooms, great food choices especially the Taverna and A La Carte both of which, despite being included in the all inclusive package, I would happily have paid extra for. Will definitely return.
