Had a fantastic stay at this hotel with my partner! It's right by the beach and surrounded by all the essentials: restaurants, supermarkets, and even the old town just a short walk away.
An ideal spot for relaxation.

Great hotel in a perfect location! The gorgeous beach is just out front, and the historic Old Town is only about 10-15mins walk away.
There are loads of bars & restaurants in the area and it's all really accessible. The staff at the hotel helped us book a local excursion which was really helpful.
There are 3 swimming pools at the hotel, including one indoors.
The room we stayed in was a good size, and it was worth paying a bit extra for a balcony & sea view.
The beds are comfortable but there don't appear to be any double beds, only singles pushed together.
The (half-board) food is nice, but pretty standard buffet style stuff. It was all labelled but it wasn't always clear what was vegetarian/vegan and what had meat in it. However it was all pretty tasty. We did prefer to eat out in the evenings though as there are so many good restaurants in the area.
There is also a Bistro cafe and an A La Carte restaurant on site, both facing the beach, and at the right time you can catch a lovely sunset too. We had nice drinks at the cafe a few times, and ate at the restaurant twice and enjoyed the food there.
The staff were mostly all really helpful & friendly. We only had a disappointing interaction once. The reception staff could speak an impressive array of different languages which would be super helpful!
The hotel is very clean and tidy, and there are quite a few spaces where you can just sit and pass the time if you wish.
We had a brilliant time at the Aquila Porto, and I would definitely recommend it, even just for the location alone!

Wonderful and polite service, high personal culture of the staff, comfortable rooms with a wonderful view of the sea, tasty and varied meals. The stay was very successful, I hope it will not be the last. Thank you very much!

For a Hotel that claims to be 5 star, the rooms are simply not good enough. The inside of the hotel, especially rooms could use some work. In addition it was zero sound isolation both from the hallway and street so I cannot recommend this really. Service, breakfast and pool area was decent.

An amazing hotel close to the old town of Rethymno and by the beach!
The rooms were very clean and everythng was maintained very neatly!
Breakfast buffet was a dream and offered anything from up to 7 types of eggs, fruit, different breads all the way till creatan cheeses and freshly made smoothies.
The complete staff was always friendly and we felt very welcome!
