22-28 Dec. We had a very pleasant stay at the Aluasun Rojo Lago. The hotel is conveniently located just a short Uber ride from Málaga Airport and is set in a lovely neighbourhood close to Playa de la Carihuela. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops nearby, and the beach and Paseo Marítimo are just a few minutes’ walk away. The long promenade is also great for walking or running.
Check-in was warm and welcoming. The reception area is clean and spacious, with a large bar and lounge area. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis; breakfast was buffet-style with a good selection and enough variety to suit most tastes.
We booked a junior suite, which was spacious and comfortable, with a lounge area, kettle, TV, small balcony and very comfortable beds. The bathroom was particularly large. Rooms were cleaned daily. While the rooms felt slightly dated in places, this didn’t affect our enjoyment. The hotel was quiet at night and we slept well.
The rooftop pool area was a real highlight, with great views, plenty of seating and sunbeds, plus a bar serving drinks and food. There is also a second pool available.
Staff were friendly throughout our stay. As it was low season, staffing levels appeared reduced at times, but this didn’t impact our experience. Special thanks to Miguel and Mario on reception, who were welcoming, friendly and professional.
Overall, a relaxing adults-only hotel that we would happily recommend when staying in this area.

Stayed here half board 16th to 23rd Nov. Location is perfect and less than a minute to the beach and even less to all the shops bars and restaurants.
Rooms are a little dated and could do with a little updating. Room was on two levels, bedroom and bathroom on one level then two steps down to the living room which is has a sofa, fridge, table and TV with English, German and Spanish speaking channels. Large sliding doors to the balcony which just about gets a table and two chairs on. Room has air conditioning however if like me you like and ice cold room due to outside temperatures then you're out of luck because it's controlled centrally and at this time of year is set to warm rooms up even on its lowest setting of 17 degrees. Ended up sleeping with air con off and balcony door open
The room is serviced every day.
There are two pools, one on ground floor and the other on the roof both are served by a bar. The rooftop also has a Jacuzzi with stunning views of not only Torremolinos but out to sea. The rooftop bar also serves food.
The 3 lifts are small (fit 4-5 people) and slow but do the job they're supposed to.
The breakfast gives you a wide variety of choices, cereal, fruit, yogurts, pastries, cooked etc along with the usual tea, coffee and juice.
The evening meal again gives you a variety which varies each day
The staff are friendly and always helpful.
I didn't arrive by car however with regards to parking it doesn't have a lot and you may have to park on the streets nearby.........if you can find a space
For me it's location and service far outweighs the need to update the rooms which I feel are not quite 4 stars but just slightly better than 3

Absolutely lovely hotel! Staff friendly and attentive. Rooms to a good standard and very clean. Restaurant was busy at times, however food was plenty and hot. Location is 30seconds from the beach which is a massive plus, and having a rooftop pool is awesome. 2nd time here, and will rebook again.

This is a basic 4 star hotel.
The rooms are simple, dated but very spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable which makes for a great nights sleep. There is a TV in the room with English channels (BBC, ITV etc). The fridge is a bonus. The safe in the room is chargeable.
Please note there are hardly any plug sockets, no USB ports so don’t forget your adapters.
We were originally on the 3rd floor but the room smelt of dampness where the shower had flooded and seeped under the wooden floorboards from the bathroom into the hall area and created a smell in the room. Fortunately, we were allocated another room which was much better although the aircon wasn’t working. Despite making several requests this was never fixed.
The restaurant serves breakfast and evening meal. Breakfast and dinner was ok but very hit and miss. If you are a fussy eater (like my husband) you could end up with a plate of chips or bread and butter. We ate out most nights.
Despite this, the staff are lovely, and make the stay in the hotel a pleasant one. They all work so hard. The location of the hotel is perfect with the sea, shops, bars, buses all within easy reach and we would have no hesitation in returning.

We had a really nice stay here. The food was great, the rooms were comfortable (a bit noisy sometimes, but that’s okay), and the staff were super friendly. The food here is actually better than in many of the nearby restaurants, which often serve quite greasy dishes or food that seems aimed at British tourists.
Some of the staff made our stay even better. Special thanks to Ivan for being so nice, and to the lovely girl with the Harry Potter tattoo (sorry, we didn’t get your name) for being so friendly and helpful. You both really made our stay extra pleasant.
